Well the game before it (
which btw you can transfer MHF2 to MHU) isn't hard, in fact none of them are hard "par say" it's a game of skill. It just takes time to get better, like grinding for better equipment/weapons, and learning of move sets of the beasts also helps in the long run.
If you've read about how hard this game is from like IGN(
or others) the only reason they baw on it is because it takes like a good 20ish maybe 30ish hours to
ACTUALLY get into the game. Also game testers are there to try to beat the game and MH is known for their long gameplay time. So thats why these games score low.
The combat system is, in my opinion, amazing. I love the 3rd party view, and some people baw about no locking on, but what that person doesn't realize is that you need the environment to work to your advantage. If the monster ran passed you your camera would follow it and you'd accidentally change direction towards the beast. So the only things to get used to is the camera controls really.
And there really isn't "any" required multiplayer play in this game. There's a single player "campaign" which is pretty good, but I do have to say, this game is built for multiplayer. It's amazing fun to play with friends, especially when you have 4 all together

. But in the guildhall (
multiplayer quests) you unlock more stronger armor and weapons. So its not really required to play in the guildhall, but if you want a challenge then its something to look into. But if you get good at the game, get a good enough armor set, a good weapon

, you could work your way through the guild hall slowly and get through it no problem.

Hope this helps!
