I was wondering if anyone could give me a detailed guide on long swords. I mainly want to know which ones are useful and what armor to use with specific swords. Thanks for advance for the help.

Fire: Wyvern Blade "Bloom", or Wyvern Blade "Rose" if you don't have/want Sharpness +1
Water: Jade Vagalhao
Ice: Glacial Diva
Thunder: Nether Dilemnity
Dragon: Altheos Altrusta (does not need Sharpness +1)
Poison: Megrez's Asterism with Gigginox X armor
Paralysis: Depths of Midnight with Gigginox X armor

Typically, the armor is up to the user, depending on what they like for armor skills. It's always a good idea to try and get Sharpness +1, whether through armor or talismans, unless the weapon has a base purple sharpness to begin with. Evasion +1/2 is also a pretty handy skill to have. Focus is handy but not really that necessary, and Razor Sharp is always nice. Attack Up is also a nice bonus if you have it, but the armor skill Honed Blade (Edgemaster skill points) is basically both Sharpness +1 and Attack Up (L) combined, something that I know Vortiene likes. But as I said, armors and skills are mostly based on what you prefer, so typically it's best to just find what you like. I personally am aiming to get the Stygian Zinogre armor, which has Evasion +1, Dragon Attack +1, Full Charge (increases damage when at full health), and Focus. However, there are many perfectly viable armor sets, such as the Helios mixed set (ZZZXZ), mixed Abyss sets, and more.

Some of the skills I'll list are good on any blademaster weapon, but for longswords, try skills from the pool of: Sharpness +1, Razor Sharp, Attack Up (S/M/L), Defense Up (S/M/L), Focus, Speed Sharpening, Capture Guru, Evasion +1/+2, Evasion Up (distance), Critical Eye +1/2/3, Honed Blade, Rock Steady, HG Earplugs, Fire/Water/Ice/Thunder/Dragon Attack +1/2 (depending on your weapon).

The status weapons are both the variants of the Nargacuga longswords, and the poison one starts with purple sharpness. They don't have the element until you have awakening, which is why you use the Gigginox X armor for those two. It gives Awaken, Status Attack +2, Razor Sharp, Element Attack Down (doesn't matter), and you can gem in Evasion +1 easily. Trying for Sharpness +1 is a good idea for the paralysis one though, if you have a good enough talisman.

Watch this video for a list of the G-rank armors and armor skills if you'd like. ^_^

You forgot to mention Pyro Demolisher (slime LS) which is overkill on pretty much everything.

I personally like to use as para LS Soulstranger because of its unique looks. I run standard LS set with Honed Blade, Evade+1, Focus and it's doin good. So i recommend it.

Alright, thanks for your help. Also for the Helios mixed set, what armor parts do I need?

The helios mix set is helios Z with X waist. It gives HGE and sharpness +1.
Since i use reaver "calamity" a lot i prefer this set:
Spoiler:
It also serves as a great sword, gunlance and hunting horn set so its not a specefic set.

If you want to use a raw weapon, you do NOT want to go for Honed blade. At G rank, weapons have really high raw damage, so using critical eye+3 is best because it increases raw damage by 1.25(1 + affinity in decimal). AuL is a fixed boost meaning it will always add 20 damage to true raw regardless of initial raw power. In other words, it adds 66 damage visually on your status screen for LS.

Disregarding many other mathematical factors, let's compare AuL and CE+3 with raw.
An ls with 330 raw
AuL → 330 +66 = 396
CE+3 → 30% affinity x 25% raw damage boost: 1.075 damage boost
330(1.075) = 354

Clearly AuL wins here. Now let's look at a raw weapon of 940

AuL → 940 + 66 = 1,006
CE+3 → 940(1.075) = 1,010
The difference may not seem large, but when using Nero's Calamity or Brachy's LS, using CE+3 with them is necessary to compensate for the lack of elemental damage. Of course, having CE+3 with with an attack up is very nice.

What can i do that adding CE+3 require 20 skill points while Honed Blade only 10. Not to mention you need to pair CE+3 with Sharpness+1 which is another 10 points. 30 vs 10. I know that on paper CE+3 wins but in reality i don't have tali good enough to make proper set with it. It's really easy to get Honed blade, evade+1, focus as edgemaster talis are very common. As for now i need to roll with it and hope to get something in near future.

I think challenger+2 can be handy here as it gives AuL and CE+2 at the same time. But it works only when monster is enraged. Challenger+2, Sharpness+1, Focus, Evade+1 is accessible with Fastcharge+5, OO tali which i got. Need to do some tests.

You only need a two slot talisman to get Earplugs, Sharpness+1, and CE+3. I have HGE, Sharpness+1, and CE+3 with a hearing+5 O slot talisman and a one slot weapon. Even though you may not get my set if you don't have my talisman, I think you can settle for evasion+1, sharpness+1, and CE+3.

Using gigginox X with megrez's asterism is a freaking abomination. Lucent weapons should be used for their raw and natural purple sharpness, I would recommend using Dire Miralis gemmed for critical eye with any weapon that does not need sharpness +1.

Then in my opinion, if only using Megrez's Asterism for raw and purple, it only has 726 base. Wyvern Blade "Rose" has 858. Altheos Altrusta has 792. They both have elements as well. Why bother even using Megrez's Asterism at that point?

I only recommended it as a poison weapon. And even then, Asthenia Glaive is a good option as well.

It's better because of the natural 30% affinity.

I found HGE/Earplugs/Rock Steady useful only on GS. With other weapons i usually run evade+1 to roll through roars. On LS i run Focus also. It's impossible for me to fit CE+3, Evasion+1, Focus, Sharpness+1. And yes i want them all on my set. Also Earplugs in this game are useless.
