In the end of the trailer there was a large snake monster about the size of the Raviente that I first assumed was it until I noticed its scales were done very differently. Is this a new subspecies or entirely new monster we have here? Trailer: (Skip to around 2:45 to see it)

I doubt it's Raviente, it's most likely a totally different generic and overly cinematic HP tank that noone will enjoy fighting.

I dunno, seems pretty cool. Probably a lot like Raviente, except at night in a thunderstorm. Ambiance!

If I remember correctly the rules are MHFO and the main mh games can take concepts from each other, but not weapons or monsters, so it's definitely not Raviente.

That is retarded and makes no sense. Where did you read such claims? It's all owned by Capcom which means it's all available all the time. And we BETTER see that Black Rathian sometime soon in the other games.
Also...Lavasioth was originally Frontier yet it appeared in Unite.

Honestly Shadow, seeing as bugs are a big theme of MH4 I'm guessing it's a giant worm. A giant, boring, shitty, cinematic, HP tank of a worm.

The Feral Rathian looks pretty much exactly like Black Rathian, only not as insipid. I'm wagering it's going to have a similar moveset. Honestly, the more I find out about Frontier, the less I like anything that has to do with it. I really don't care if Feral Rathian is like Black Rathian at all, in anything but looks, since MH4 looks to be about a million times better, less expensive, and portable, than MHFG.

Feral organism
A feral animal is an animal living in the wild but descended from domesticated individuals. When the term is extended to plants it reflects a transition from cultivated to uncultivated or controlled to volunteer status

Do we even know how the wyvern virus works? Like, is it basically giving everything a savage Jho mode, or is it something they contract during a quest, or what?

Unless someone translates the Japanese page on the virus, no, we don't know exactly how it works yet. What we do know is this:
*If YOU get the virus, it will prevent you from recovering the red portion of the health bar. *If you have the virus and hit the monster enough, you gain an affinity boost. *You get the virus by being hit by infected monsters.
The Tigrex in the video seems to be infected after it's slain, which implies that these may be zombie monsters, of sorts. I really hope they're not all like this, though... that would mean you have to kill each of these monsters twice! Perhaps this is just the introduction to the virus... I would hope that the quest would start with the monster already infected. Otherwise, you better get DOUBLE the rewards for killing infected monsters or this is a bogus feature. No one in their right mind is gonna kill a monster twice for 45 minutes for a normal haul of parts and items... no way.

I think it would make sense if the virus worked like the "warning hunts" from Portable 3rd except it can happen on any quest and is totally random, so you can fight the zombie monster for more/better rewards or you can abandon and just keep the regular rewards.

Or they could also warn you that the monter you are fighting is most likely infected and that you have to be careful. Remember that story is a strong point now.

Just clarifying a bit. /ok/
The wiki states that you can get infected through infected monsters and of course, the Goa Magara itself.
And if you fail to cause enough damage to the monster that infected you before the virus incubates, you'll also get a drop in defence.
