| I just looked at the quests in Monster Hunter 4, and I saw the first ones are to hunt a Great Jaggi using each of the game's weapon styles.
I like that because it will allow me to fight using each weapon style, because I might turn monogamist (like I did with hammers in MH3U - until Gigginox taught me how to pick the right weapon style for the fight.)

| That's also something I like about it. If you look at some of the Guild cards for 3U many of them have only 1 weapon used for the entire game, no diversity. I think part of this is brough over though from Tri and those who have played older games, you get use to one weapon and it's difficult to break the habit.
With 4U having different mechanics and new weapons it kind of pushes people to try out each one and see if it works for them.

| I like being "monogamist"... not because I can't adapt to multiple weapons, but mainly because I like learning what strategy to use against all monsters with the weapon at hand. I have done all weapons except the SS, LS, by making a new character, and soloing all the village quests. Hammer, I went all guild... never touched the town, just to see how I would do... G-Ranked and Soon will go to town to obliterate the quests there :-P But that's another story. | |

| I dunno, personally I main one or two weapons for the vast majority of the game in order to git gud. Once I hit the endgame and I start to have less and less trouble with each fight then I'll start branching out and picking up other weapons and their god tier armour sets to just play around with.
Playing one weapon is by far the easiest and quickest way to get to the end of the game, where its then much easier to splash out.
That and I imagine a lot of people don't want to be mediocre with all weapon classes, instead of being mediocre with most and pretty good with one.

I don't know. I always made multiple weapon types. Some monsters I'd always preferred fighting with certain weapons that I didn't like to use as much on other ones.

| I don't monogamize, I polygamize. Sometimes, I have trouble with one weapon type, plan to make a different weapon from a monster I likely won't be farming much, just made an armor set with skills that synergize with it, or even get bored of whatever I was previously using.
In that case, I'll make a decent (read: acceptable levels of Green sharpness) low- or mid-grade weapon or two of that type, do a few runs against low-rank punching-bag monsters, probably the Great Whatevers and/or Yian Kut-Ku so I get used to the ins and outs of said weapon-type. If I like it enough, I'll start investing in that weapon class. I probably will, anyway. I'm quite a hoarder when it comes to weaponry, moreso for Talismans.

| I usually just stick with the bow unless I'm bored and that is what I am going to use the most in the game. I'm just better at using bow that the other weapons. | |

Gotta agree, I just fight some monster SO much easier with certain weapon styles. This also has the added affect of making create many different types, and as tehy say: Variety is the spice of life.

| Been a hammer main since tri and that has never changed, but found some love for duals from 3u. Now I've also added insect glaive to my repertoire but it will take a bit more to get as proficient as I am on a hammer. Then I will prolly mess around with older weps like lance, swax and longsword.
But yea, fightning these new 4u monsters with a hammer seems more pain than worth. Some have very hard teeth which make hammers bounce around (tetsu, nerscylla), most monster heads like to hang around very high and almost unreachable (gravios, najarala) and gore magala is probably a prime example of why this game seems to hate hammer users, because this thing doesn't seem to get stunned at all. It's prolly some status near immunity or something. Add in frenzy mode where standing in front of this guy is plain suicidal and it's dual blades for me instead. <.<

| Learning the Charge Blade, really like the way it's used so far. You can do some pretty nice combos with it between the SnS form and the Axe form.
I've also really enjoyed playing the game in 3D and watching the videos. They seemed to have worked at it quite a bit to get the 3D just right.. a huge improvement over 3U. (also the superstable 3d on the new 3ds doesn't hurt.)

| I've always been a longsword main, but since I did dabble in switch axe back in 3/3U, I really do want to try out the charge blade. However, I'm saving that for later. I can adapt to pretty much any monster with just the longsword, and my skill with it is above and beyond any other style. Learning a new style would just hold me back at the moment and delay my equipment advancement. | |

| I've always been a "stick to one or two weapons" kind of hunter. In this version, I've been diggin the Hunting Horn. I'm not very good at it yet, but it is a heck of a lot of fun.
I really like the monster designs and the new regions. So far, it seems like a really solid game and worth the really long wait.

| In this game I mainly make use of LS and occasionally Insect Glaive, and then bow if the need arises, namely Basarios and Gravios. If I had a reason to use Duals and the Gunlance like I did in 3U I would use them, but I can realistically manage most things without Duals, and the loss of underwater has taken away the Gunlance's utility for me.
I'm probably the only person who just doesn't care about the Charge Axe. Probably because I never cared much for Sword n' Shield or the Switch Axe.
Anyway, for stuff I like in this game...
I like the trading for bits of monsters that don't shoe up in the game. I've always liked the series' world just as much as the gameplay, and that makes it feel a little more interconnected, I guess. I like the little videos that play for the first time I meet a monster, and how naturally they flow into the actual gameplay. Really like the way the Insect Glaive controls and of course I love that I can chain fade slashes into a spirit combo. Probably forgetting a lot of minor things, but whatever.
EDIT: I love the look of the Dunes/Re-imagined Old Desert. It's oddly very pleasing to the eye. Makes me want to see more classic MH areas redone with the way the world works in 4th gen.
