| Okay so I'm a player from the old wii and well since they cut the online mode It's been quite lonely and boring to play alone and getting a new wii U would be quite the expense... So I looked into getting a Nintendo 3ds XL to play monster hunter on. Two of my main questions are: 1: Is MH good on the nintendo? Is the screen on 3ds XL not to small? are the controls good? And 2. I done some research on the multi-player mode on the MH4 and it seems that you need some kind of adaptor from the wii U? But does the same apply for MH4U? or can you just simply be connected to some internet and play online with no problems? Thanks guys!

| First, on controller: I liked using the Pro controller for the Wii-U, and I still miss not having the right stick to control the camera. Wit that said, the auto targeting with the left trigger is definitely usable, and makes the game take on a different dimension.
As for MH being "good" on the 3DS... Monster Hunter was initially a portable game that was ported over to consoles... so it is "home" when played on a portable, like the 3DS. It is how it was initially intended to be played.
While I might be a little bit biased, it is definitely worth it to play on the 3DS, even though I would love it if they released it for the Wii-U. The game is very visually appealing, and the "size" of the screen really means nothing. You can see everything very clearly, and neatly.
You do not need any adaptor to play MH on the 3DS. All you need is a Wi-Fi and you are set.
TLDR: Buy and play the game. No regrets.

| I have a 3DS, not XL, and the screen is still fine. Controls are easy to learn, camera isn't an issue with the target cam option.
Multiplayer needs nothing since there's no WiiU, just internet and funzies.
Welcome back to MH! :D | |

| Im sure there isnt any confusion considering your post, but I just want to mak sure it is understood. MH4U is the one you can play on the 3DS with no special adapters. Only WIFI is needed for the 3ds to connect to. Any other MH on the 3ds is not able to play online with only the handheld unit. | |

Incorrect. MH was originally a PS2 title, then it skyrocketed popularity on the handheld market.

| I bought my 3DSXL to play monster hunter. I don't have plans to buy anything else for some time either. So in my opinion it is worth it.
The size of the screen on the XL is fine. You will get used to it and it lets you see everything that you need to. The controls are something you get used to as well. Anytime you change systems the controls change so don't even worry about that.
Get the "new" 3DSXL though. there is a difference between the regular XL and the "new" XL. Unless you are tight on cash and have to buy used, that is my recommendation.

Any other MH on the 3ds is not able to play online with only the handheld unit. So only in MH4U you can play multi-player only using the wifi? Yep, that is correct. MH4U has built in proper wifi use.

| I have not seen anyone mention the "New"3DSxl... Just FYI suteshi the "New"3DSxl is the same price as the older modle (unless you find the older one on sale) and adds a few more features that help with MH4U quite a bit (though not needed). The N3DSxl has a faster processor that helps the game load faster and comunicates with the wifi a bit better. You can also use the addded "C" stick to control the camera and post screenshots (offline) to miiverse as well as using the internet while the game is paused. Furthermore it has the Super Stable Face Tracking 3D that adds a lot to the imersion of the game. The game its self is worth getting on any of the 3DS modles as it is probably the most expansive MH game released thusfar in the west. Also the DLC content is still just starting and will offer a lot of free content as it is released. If Tri has been the only game you have played there will be a slight learning curve but overall it doesn't take long to get use to the controls and the new monsters. *correction ADN did mention getting the New 3DSxl over the regular one. | |
