| Hay guys, I've been debating this myself for quite awhile,
Basically, for those who know of the Crystal Path of weaponry, it eventually splits off into 1 of 2 choices, which is extra damage output, or added 15% affinity.
For me, I'm currently using the Tough Break (B), which gives the options for upgrade as Soulbreaker (P) or Soulbreaker (G).
The damage output of P is relatively high at 1026, but the G gives an added 15% affinity and 976 damage.
Basically, which is the ideal choice? My play style with the SA is basically run in, attack in sword mode, back away, charge up the sword again, and rinse - repeat.
Also, those who are using other Crystal Weapon variants (Hammer, GS, SnS, Lance) would be cool to know what you guys picked. |

Raw AP always will give a better damage output.
15% of 25% extra AP => 15/4 = 3,75 % Extra damage average.
976 * 1,0375 = 1012,6
1026 > 1012,6
Remember, affinity do NOT affect elemental damage.
Even with lots of AP buffs ( Like the powercharm / Talon , demon pots, food skills, attack up, etc..) Raw AP will be better. A little bit of mats also. BEST scenario for affinity
SA multiplier: 5,4
Power Charm: 5,4 x 6 = Power Talon : 5,4 x 9 Mega Demon Drug: 5,4 x 5 Armor skill: Attack up (L) = 5,4 x 20
20+5+9+6 = 35
35* 5,4 = 189
(976 + 189) * 1,0375 = 1208,687 With the affinity weapon.
1026 + 189 = 1215 with the normal weapon.
Of course, with affinity you might get lucky , and end up dealing more damage, but the same way, you can end up doing way less.. average, you will do less damage. Not much of a difference tbh, but there is a difference.
Anyway, IMHO , get the one you will feel more comfortable. Do you like crits? Do you feel lucky? Go affinity , even if you will end up doing a little bit less damage, you will be happier , placebo effects are really important ; )
But, mathematically speaking , extra damage is better than affinity |

Righteous amount of maths right there. I think I'll go for the higher AP over the affinity. Thanks for that! |

| Don't criticals cause more monster flinching and better chances of breaking off limbs?
I run a 60% affinity setup and seem to flinch bosses and cut tails like no one's business. |

The monsters flinch when they get damage to a certain point, for example, a los will flinch when been hit in the head, once it reaches 200 damage.
Odds are, the "Blow" that makes pass that 200 damage is a critical, but thats it. Its more an illusion / Placebo
So, no , crits do not make the monster flinch , high damage output does, and we all know, crits help getting a high damage output, and a steak of crits, is a good amount of damage.
But having a higher damage output without crits, would mean even more "flichs" |
