| I have been playing offline mostly, taking it nice and slow killing everything along the way, but I think I have finally hit my wall in this game. I am up against the three beasts. Rathalos, Barioth, and Diablos.
I have gone up against all of them and failed D: The closest I got was with the los, he limped away twice and was sleeping. I was sure I had him but I guess I was careless because he chewed me a new one when he woke up and took me out quick.
Right now I am using Barroth armor gemmed for attack M and out of the cold resist down. And for a weapon I am using my SA Rough Edge.
Any advice you guys could give? I am starting to think I need to switch weapons and try out different strats. I probably just need to keep going at them and I will take them down, but up until now I have been able to take on everything on my first try except Barroth which took two tries to take down.
This game is starting to remind me of the love/hate frustration levels of Demon Souls. |

Good job knowing about armor skills this early in the game...My advice is to get Lagiacrus armor and get his Switch Axe,then since Rathalos is weak to thunder, then use that weapon to farm him for his armor (You'll have a rough time getting the plate) Once you have his armor make one of his fire weapons (Preferably the Djhin) use one of his fire weapons on Barioth (Use the Djihn since Barioth is a pain at first).. At this point you can either farm Barioth for his armor of make one of his Ice weapons for Douche-ablos (He is annoying and a douche) after that you'll unlock Uraguaan (Uragay) and Agnaktor...There both extremely weak to water so make a Royal Ludroth weapon and Upgrade it as far as you can for offline..After you have beaten those two you can either use you Lagiacrus armor or Rathalos armor on the final boss (Not spoiling for anyone who doesn't know)
Good job for knowing armor skills and doing offline first (I sense non noobiness) |

| Thanks for tips. Lagi was a pain, but I am sure I can take him on a few more times. Armor Skills didnt take me too long to figure out. Once I had the auto block charm and I noticed it was the only active skill I had even though I had points in attack, and some other skills. I played around with making the full Jagi armor just cause I like having full sets then noticed the attack S was on my active skills list. Put two and two together after that.
I do have few other questions. Super Nutrients. I keep forgetting to use them. Are they worth it? Does everyone else here use them? And traps and bombs. Should I use them at the start of the fight or wear the monsters down a bit before? |

Once you get online you'll have to deal with noobs that have mixed armor sets with no skills, people using ludroth armor against a fire monster, people with all negative armor skills, and people who don't even care about them even if you tell them.. |

| You sound like me when i was at that level. I had Barroth too, and i stood no chance against all three of em. I farmed Lagia, till i got his armor (full). The horns might be a pain, but it is an awesome armor set at that level. After you get that, Los, Bari and Blos should be no problem if you match them versus a decent weapon. Good luck. |

| Your question about the Mega/Nutrients, there's a better way to do that. There is a Felyne Food Skills Chart on the Wikia. You should print it out.
A better use of those Mega Nutrients is to make Max Potions to carry in the case that you cart. You can eat to increase your health and another stat (limited). You should carry Energy Drinks and use the Rations provided at the start of each quest for max stamina.
Good Luck on the rest of offline. |

| A pretty standard formula to follow for fighting monster in my opinion is as follows.
In preparing for the fight, always match your weapon element to the monsters weakness. For Los - Dragon or Thunder For Barioth - Fire or Thunder For Blos - Ice or any element but Fire
2nd is to try and use an armor that doesnt have a big weakness to any special attacks the monster might do, mainly fire in the case of Los. The other 2 arent to bad either way.
After that bring your standard item pouch of items but what I find to be most helpful is to bring 2 or more LBB+ if you have them. LBB+ really slam offline monster for a big chunk of their HP. I like to set a trap and then set them up, but this can backfire if they fireball or ice storm your stuff.
Also always bring 2 traps and I like to use one after a minute or so into the fight or to get my bombs off, and then I use the 2nd either to cap or to get in lots of hits when the monster gets fatigued.
Now for each specific monster I recommend the following
For Los - Wind resistance is a great skill to have against him. Also flash bombs are a must, I generally bring 5 and sometimes the mats to make more. Aim for the head when he is in a trap or flashed out of the sky.
Bari - bring a fast weapon that can block, ie the SnS or even a lance. Flash bombs work on him as well. Stay on your toes and dont get greedy.
Blos - Bring LBB+ and LBB for this guy. Sonic Bombs are your friend as well as flash. I recommend using the Ice SnS as it will allow you to Sonic him and flash without putting your weapon away. If you get him sonic'ed when he burrows, keep hitting him until you sense he is about to pop out. Get your flash bomb ready and when he pops out flash him down. Its an easy way to get tons of hits off on him or use your bombs. Be sure to Block or have the tremor resisitance skill when he burrows at you.
If you are still have trouble watch some of SocialDissonance's videos as he does offline with level appropriate gear.
Good Luck and welcome!

| Thanks for all the input everyone.
I haven't used the food skills much at all, I am definitely going to be trying them out now. As for the LBB+ I heard they do not go off by themselves so how do you use them with traps? Set up the trap then set up the bomb, or wait till the monster is trapped then set them up? After that how do you get them to go off? Will the monster set it off when he hits them?
Lol I am learning so much right now, just dont want to stop. |

Are SA's that bad? I havent played with much anything else expect for the SnS and GS. I kinda want to try out Lance and Hammer but cant get used to them. And I dont have much interest in the LS. |

| LBB's can be exploded by putting a small barrel bomb beside them, or throwing stuff at them(like paintballs) or hitting them in anyway.
Switch axes seem kinda lowpowered to me. It seems they must be more used in axe form than in sword mode, but I use them more like hit & run with the sword and when the gauge runs out I return to axe mode. Any way I came to the conclusion that GS is better. |

| I thought it was pretty weak at first as well, but then I started using the Sword mode a lot more and I noticed my kill times seemed to be a lot quicker. I also dont really use hit and run tactics any more. I try to get in close and underneath the monster and sidestep and roll when I need to.
Also I found out not too long ago if you press R+X+A you can draw your weapon in sword mode which makes it alot easier to get some nice damage in. |

I recommend trying to learn Lancing or hammering too, but SA isn't bad, if you can use it efficiently. |

| I got Rathalos with Thunderclap Barioth with Wyvernblade "fire" and Diablos with Icicle Spike+.
Rathalos gave me some grief, but the others weren't too bad... |
