So, Im a LS and Lance guy, and gunning with my aquamatic "spark" was my side hobby when I was a low HR. Well, Im HR49 now and want to get back into gunning, specifically a pierce gunner.

I can farm pretty much everything but jho(only killed one), I already ala farmed for my Dark Claw. What would be the best pierce gunning set that can also SB(Sleep Bomb)? I was thinking Blos/Blizzard/Chaos with blos+ armor set. Does all this sound ok?

Best i could get was this: Blizzard Cannon Frame, Devil's Grin Barrel, and Thundercrus stock. Loads 2/4/5 pierce and 2/2 sleep. Needs recoil down +2 to fire sleep lvl2 w/o recoil, and steadiness +1 to be without deviation. Hard to do with blos armor...

Not very good in my opinion. The raw is not as high as a dedicated pierce gun, the load of peirce lvl1 is disappointing, and the skills required to make it useful are next to impossible to get on one set.

Instead, why not make two guns, one for pierce, and one for sleep bombing. Using blos+ for the pierce gun, and gaan+ for sleep bomb.

Perhaps one of the local bowgun gods can make a better gun...

yeah sleep+pierce isn't very practical because pierce enjoys it's extremely low natural recoil while sleep requires (especially with a low ammo size) a very high recoil reduction. if you are really interested in it i think that blizzard/jho/lagi(-) gun is a decent option, then you could mix blos+ armor with gaan+ waist and ingot+ legs and a recoil+4 talisman (just needs a 3 slot tali) to get pierce all up, pierce+ and recoil-2 easily. don't expect more than one sleep per hunt tho, maybe two. you still have some deviation, wich is not an issue for status but not great for pierce. if it gives you issues you can give up on pierce all up and keep pierce up lvl1 to gem in stability+1.

if you feel like piercing only then los+ frame, jho barrel and bari stock is the most used (and in my opinion effective) combination, switching to blos+ stock for small monsters. some like blos barrel for small monsters too (as in lucas does) but you'll have to deal with some nasty deviation there. As for the armor on this one you can mix blos+ with anything else really.

If you don't have blos+ than regular blos is just as fine, except you'll have to give up on a 3slot piece.

Pierce and sleep really don't play nice together...

The only stock which gives pierce and sleep is blizz cannon, which has no recoil reduction (which necessitates rathling+ frame and recoil+3). And the only barrel with sleep has a range of 1, which makes pierce 2 and especially 3 worse... which is bad when blizz stock is giving us 3 pierce 2 and 3 pierce 3.

That at least shoots 5/4/5 pierce, as well as 3 sleep 2 and 4 para 2.

The other alternative would be Rathling+/Jhen/Blizz. Same armour as before, except you have to exchange pierce all up for recoil down+3. That shoots 4/5/6 pierce, 3 sleep 2 and has a tiny bit more damage. Between the two guns, I'd say the first I posted is better though. It gives you a strong para, and shoots more pierce 1 (in exchange for 2 and 3... but with the long range you get, pierce 1 is much more versatile than 2 and 3).

There's never a need to SB. And Blos/Bari is good if you can get all Blos' buffs and evade.
