PostKoei Warriors

Something I KNOW people will post in, because 2 of our most well known members and me play this.

The both series (Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors) follows the events of Feudal Japan; or the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms). You take control of a notable figure from that time period and along with other allies, fight through hordes of enemies and officers until victory requirements are met.

Victory usually consists of taking out the enemy general, but sometimes, your general may have to escape, take out all enemy strongholds, or defeat all enemy officers. The maps are large and colorful, and you can call upon a horse at anytime to help you get around faster.

There are also certain objectives you have to complete along the way, such as taking out a specific officer or escorting some troops. Failure to complete these yields consequences as more enemy troops will often appear, or the map will even be set on fire.

How would I describe the controls? Well it's like Monster Hunter, God of War, and Ninja Gaiden all had a threesome.

The game is fun, but the controls take getting used to. If you plan on getting it, rent it before putting a lot of money into it.

Dynasty Warriors has a simpler style than Samurai Warriors.

I like both equally but Dynasty Warriors has more characters, not to mention it was created before Samurai Warriors.

On a lighter note, these games are awesomely addictive, especially with 2 players.

I was(still am XD) addicted to dynasty warriors/samurai warriors. I loved the fact that the maps were so F**KIN HUGE, so I got it for PS3 and I stayed on that for liek everrrr and the visual effects on that.... It made me use ctrl+jizz way too much XD

After looking up what both series are and seeing the I admit they look fun. Any suggestions for a good first time game for either I can try?

The latest in the series on any platform is fine. They're all practically the same thing.

I might get Orochi sometime soon. Looks pretty epic. Being a crossover plus its own original characters.

Orochi has 3 games out already now

2 of them on ps2 and the newest one is on ps3

they are a story on basically combining both samurai and dynasty warriors together to set up its own unique plot line against the choas King Orochi

the series are all very fun

@chips: Dynasty warrior is said to be the "test project" for samurai warrior as for mapping, action, and other game play system so they can get some feed back from many player then overall those suggestion into samurai warrior

some Chinese site is not very happy about that though which i think is funny XD

I like Dynasty Warriors 'tactics' involving in the warfare, it seemed well thought out. (Like flooding a castle, or invading the Wei castle was a pain.)

Samurai Warriors indeed had better maps though.

After playing through Chronicles though, I just realized that many of the maps are copy-pasted, with alternating textures. Kanto and Hasedo oddly enough didn't even texture swap.

What strikes me as odd though is that the Osaka Winter and Summer Campaign maps are drastically different from the mid point-north.

you'll have to say that those Japanese people really worked hard in observing a certain places while other places are left out LOL

but yeah sometimes the map does seems to be duplicated

as for warfare chips, it's cuz there are way more people with ahsum tactics out there in the romance of the three kingdom over the lower population in Japan XD

I haven't really counted yet, but I think (In Chronicles at least) There's only maybe 7 or so maps total. I'll try and make an official count when I can.

Ugh. SpotPass isn't letting me get the DLC stages. I might have to send it into Nintendo so they can fix the updating software.

Dynasty Warriors 4 will always be the best in series to me.

Oh, and Strikeforce will always be the worst.
