I'm just sort of... disappointed? No, that's not quite it, but short of thumbing through a thesaurus it'll have to do.

I was ready to try and chase off the 'Lord of the Seas'. I filled up on Potions, Mega Potions, Stormsender seeds. I even packed along herbs and blue mushrooms to make more Potions if/when I would surely need them. I equipped my Ludroth gear and Royal bowgun for what I thought would be a watter-based battle. Only it wasn't. Heck, the only reason I even had to swim was because I went looking for him in the ocean first. The only reason I even got hit by Lagiacrus was because a pair of Jaggi were standing where I tried to roll to.

I should be happy that this mission went so smoothly, right?
So that this can be turned into some sort of discussion instead of me debating with myself, why don't others give examples of instances that fell short of their expectations.

was it the slay or repel mission? if it was repel he comes back later all pissed off.

The repel. So when he comes back, I can expect to get beaten to a mushy pulp?

He comes back enraged so just expect his return to be much more of a challenge than the first. Of course, if you've got uber-1337 skills then you can knock him out anyway.

Repel took me 10mins. Hunt, 40mins.

Yeah, when i did the Repel mission, it only took me a couple minutes, wayyy easier than i thought it would, i didnt even need to heal, i came went to kill him later, i had to use all my potions and herbs, and killed him just before i would have had my first feint

He's a an absolute cakewalk on land, good luck however, fighting him in water. He's an absolute different fight there. Much tougher. I'm not gonna say he's...impossible or anything, but he will give you a run for your money the first time you fight him like that.

Yea he gets stuck hydro spin dashing, thats my made up name for a move he uses sometimes, and just shoots from one side of 10 underwater to the other and repeats over and over, can get pretty annoying but you want it to be tough so i'm not gona give any tips on it.

Yup that repel mission was so easy it wasnt funny. but an actual lagia fight is much harder.

if you cant kill him use a lance its much eaiser and you wont die but i guess i you want to kill him fast use a longsword

MH just loves luring you into a false sense of security about things before it really nails you with the reality of it. Just like how they always give you that quest to go do something easy and then ... Opps theres a Tigrex or.... Opps theres Lagi. now run.

Or heck, they'll occasionally even do something tough, and then make it tougher. Prime example being the powderstones quest. Oh ok, I have to carry it. No big deal. Oh it hurts me...ok... Oh, right, carry it ALL that way... Oh what, an URAGAAN? ._.

lol yeah I lucked out on that quest and he was never in that area when i was comin through. small favors. but that quest isnt so much tough as it is annoying, especially, id imagine, for someone new to the game who dosent realize the stones will keep draining ur health and came unprepared. Once they understand that... Uragaan is really just the extra middle finger to those players.

Laagy was rediculously easy in repel. It took me two tries to slay him in the hunt quest though. And I just faced him again to get more mats for my Laggy armor and even though it took 40 minutes, I still wasted him. He didn't even have a chance to rest, actually. Capture Guru popped up and a little voice in my head went "Joy!" then shocktrap'd. A little advice, farm Barroth for his armor, lightning res is crucial.
