| they're the exact same thing. Only reason why you'd want to forge it outright is if you're unlucky with ancientshards but even then ehhh it's not a good gun to begin with so no big loss |

| In all honesty, the longshot is a very good weapon. You just have to know how to use it properly So long as you have a set built to handle it, you should be fine. There are better guns out there, but I still use it lots.. Lol |

Because of the wonderful combination of folding, having mediocre attack power, and not loading much of anything. |

I dont know much a whole lot about bowguns, but im just gonna take a guess here.
good thing number 1) rapid fire clust
good thing number 2) It has a really long range (dont know if thats good or bad yet :P)
good thing number 3) It's name is pretty cool
good thing number 4) It makes me feel like a badass when i use it
|
To answer your questions...
1) is mostly irrelevant since it only fires 1 per load. Dedicated single-fire clust guns are much superior. Plus clust 2 is by far the best clust shot.
2) Normally long range would be bad, but since it hardly fires any pierce it's actually irrelevant. |

| This should've been posted here: http://mhwiki.forumotion.net/t5664-the-question-hotlineAnd with the longshot, you can essentially rapidfire 15 clust shots, which is good enough for most offline monsters (with bonus shot). But it'll take you pretty long, due to recoil. So i'd reccomend never ever spending any time in getting it, or upgrading it (no point anyway, clust damage is fixed, and that's what you're gonna do with it) It's fun though, which is probably the only reason to use it. <<So now I've become a Moderator ? I wonder what i'll evolve into next ^^'Oh...well...Uhm. This is probably the end guys. Thanks for looking at my signature. Carpet diem!I have been immortalized by Blackheart! |

| it's fun to use to mess around, but it's no cookie cutter weapon.
on a side note, i was once using my longshot on ala, i run out of shots (i ha people bring me berries so it took long anyway) and switch to normal lvl2...
...i enter scope mode... i aim just between the eyes... BOOM HEADSHOT! the guy drops dead!
my best tri moment so far. Random italian guy - qualified as kana's random italian friend EU server R5HRQB - at the moment busy on MHFO killed the alatreon with a normal shot lvl2... BOOM headshot! Wyvern firing squad founder. -dun dun duun- |

| It's not exactly a "good" weapon, in that pretty much anything will finish a quest faster. It is, however, a very fun gun to use. |

It's one of those weapons you'd use if you just wanted to dick around. |

| There are other guns that are superior in every way.
The only unique thing with it are its ability to rapid fire clust.
Some people find its look good but I prefer "spark". |

I have never ever seen a noob gunner before, or that many gunners for that matter. Even then, Longshot is more difficult to get compared to Guan Daos or ian armors.
But I guess when by chance a nub gets ancient shard which becomes a longshot (I bet EPIC SNIPER+=WIN swirls in there heads), and then annoying clustering begins...
Personally, I reckon ian gunner set+longshot would look pretty mad. |
