First topic message reminder :

ceadeus tail.... been farming for them and only got two (from the repel only quest)

in the decisive battle, I've broken his tail numerous times and never got a tail.... (do i actually have to go to the tail and carve????)

(got deep dragon gem almost very time..... and 2 elderdragon blood in one run too...)

or does the repel only quest (save moga village) have a higher drop rate???

MAJOR BAD LUCK?

I wanna make a pellet set, someone got a good idea? I'll need pellet boost ofc, a bowgun that fires pellet 2 or 3, dunno which works better. Really, someone just point me in the right way, i have no idea where to start.

Also, DO NOT give me the: "don't use pellet" stuff. This set will be used either offline or with 3 other gunners. Or with a group of people i just really don't like.
I'm not sure, but using the Bowgun Generator, I've come up with:

Frame: Diablozooka
Barrel: Devil's Grin
Stock: Rathling+ (or LR, can't remember)

It rapid fires pellet lvl 2, does good damage I guess and has a shield too. Its folding and heavy according to the generator, not to mention recoil issues.

I might be too late to say this, but maybe rapid pellet shots aren't so good after reading something you said with pierce shots...

No! Breaking the horn has nothing to do with repelling. If you break the horn, carve it before the quest ends. If you repel him after you break the horn, and you don't carve it, the horn will be gone when you come to kill him.

Don't use pellet :hicc:

But you'd want dober armour, since it's got pellet boost and pellet s up. There's no debate over which shot type is the best a la pierce, pellet 3 is clearly the best (then 2, then 1), so you'll want to maximise the amount of pellet 3 you can shoot. You may as well go all out and use chaos/grin/chaos for maximum power and 6 pellet 3.

Something like http://divinewh.im/s/1.L_1O.N_1U.L_1N.L_1V.L_1T.N_x.Q.1B

Awesome Dain, would've never bothered to look at dober. Didn't know it differed this much from BM dober. Well, makes sense as that has punishdraw i believe. Too bad there's no way to unsheath attack with a BG, would be awesome to KO monsters with that.

Anyhow, thanks, but is there a way to avoid folding? I've really got a particular hate towards it.

Then just go for either T-rex or devil's grin. T-rex for medium and less power, grin for heavy and more power. Either way you lose a chunk of damage and a pellet shot though.

So, I finally have the courage to seriously start gunning. As a noob gunner, I decided to start with pierce sets. I assembled my first "serious" gunning set:

Diablos+
Diablos+
Diablos+
Barioth+
Rathalos

Thundacrus Rex / Devil's Grin / Thundacrus

After gemming, i have: Pierce A All Up / Pierce S Boost / Crit Eye+2 / Evasion+1

Any ideas how I can get Crit Eye+3, while retaining all the other skills? Also, does someone know a good Pierce gunning guide out there? I tried searching in the Guides section, but I was looking for... a bit more detailed about pierce gunning XD

Okay andrew, i've been churning a little, and there are 2 mayor problems.

First of all, you try to mix 1 A-10 and one A-15 skill, without there being even a single armour piece that has any in both of these. On toppa that, you need to somehow get AUX.

Now, Vangis has Sharp+1 and AUM, but has 3 slots only. If you put a dynamo there, and one in a 3 slot (it's an A skill, so you're not gonna get better), you'll need a 2 slot weapon in order to gem in Focus. But that's not probably, most likely, you'll have only 1 (anguish and Devil's crush).

Now, i'm gonna find out a way to do it. If it's possible, i'll get back to you. If not, i'll curse you for asking me to find it. Anyhows, my laptop is slow, so it'll take some time.

For now, i'll leave you with this easy solution with AUS
http://divinewh.im/s/1.1s_1h.I_1h_1a_1g_1e.1t_11.1t
There's probably about 5 or 6 alternatives with other pieces and low rank yamato/baggi, i'll find one with AUM.

When you over-forge low rank armor, or get a high rank armor set, you get access to armor pigment for that set.

To overforge is to upgrade low rank armor with high rank parts instead of forging entirely new armor. People do it because oftentimes the + counterparts of low rank armor have different skills then the low rank armors. And they are not always better skills(rathalos + sucks compared to rathalos overforge) or skills that you need.

I have two questions.

What are the all the armor sets to avoid making or using? Reasons could be bad skills, not worth it, etc.

Other than the Jho GS, can I have the names of some really good GSes out there?
