in case of DS elemental gos over raw. but you won't have a choice for you will need another weapon to beat fatalis with in order to get ultimus H&E in the first place.

I did him with an non elemental GS for the first three quests (not kills) and cause I got one in the meantime I killed him with dragon element in the fourth quest. (G-Rank geare)

duals are worthless on fata. You're stuck hitting it's tail or hind legs the whole time aka hitting minimum damage weakspot = fail.

Stick with gs/gunlance/bowgun/bow those are really the only choices for the fatalis family imo.

I heared akantor bow isn't bad. or else anithing with high attack

for bowguns(from mzereons bowgun compendium)
Fatalis
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recommended Ammunition: Normal 2, 3, Fire S
Required Skills: None
Recommended Skills: Speed Fire, Adrenaline +2, Normal S Up, any damage skills
Difficulty to gun: Moderate

What to do: For most of the fight, this is quite simple. Let it turn to face
you, and whenever you can, scope aim up at the head and blast with Normal 2.
Just beware of Snap’n’drags and belly flops, and practice hitting the face
even as it wriggles away from you. It’s quickly a very simple fight, which is
why Adrenaline is recommended, since you’ll only get hit if you make a
mistake. You’ll be just out of roar range for the most part, too. When it
flies up, get out of fireball range and recognise the patterns of the single
and triple fire ball, and when it comes in to land, get close to shoot the
head as it comes down. It’s hovering but not trying to get you, stay just
outside this much smaller fireball range and blast the head. If it’s chasing
you, get close to it to make it stop and then immediately roll out. As soon
as you get close enough, it’ll stop chasing you.

That’s basically it. It doesn’t have an armour mode, so it’ll just be three
or four rounds of monotony. If you’re going for the wings, it takes the most
damage from Fire S. Yes, even more than Dragon. It’s the fastest way to break
the wings, apart from Heroics and Normal S Up.

Honestly just ignore what Haruno says. They aren't the best but if you can pull off Dual Swords on Fatalis then go right ahead, plus you can still get in a good Demon Dance on his head if you get it when he's landing so you'll still get head breaks.

But in my expert opinion (all Fatalis are my bitches) Hammer is a top notch weapon for him. And if you enter his armor mode and your bombs don't fully knock him out of it, you can still Super Pound / Hammer spin to dish out the element damage which doesn't get negated.

And there really are no more decent bows for Fatalis hunting as the one good bow, the Akantor Bow, got the hell nerfed out of it in the prior game. The main reason is that the Charge levels were nerfed which means it can no longer get it's good Charge shot which is a godly piercing shot.

Also if you want to Dual Swords...then go Ultimus Heaven & Earth.

That ^

And what Nova said. Personally i wouldn't dual sword him as well because it really isn't that effective unless you've, a) a good weapon, b) good armor skills, and c) experience with Fatalis. But if a friend of mine can do it (someone who only uses dual swords and on everything), then i'm sure you can do it.

You an expert? Lol wut? And Hammer is passable I guess since its prob the fastest way to finish fata dlc. Just stick with range preferably with auto reload and the Lao hbg and heroics

You aren't the only one who obsesses on Unite you know, I spend most of my MH time just dicking around on Unite because I find it more enjoyable that Tri. And honestly half the time you just end up trolling the forum anyway so I tend to disregard most of what you say, especially since generally you promote only one way to do things when people ask for help instead of providing several options.

All weapons are great for every monster, it just depends on the player, their own skill level, and experience / preferred weapon.

And yes, when it comes to Unite, I do consider myself an expert.

About using DS on fatalis. try to stay on the side of the legs. never stand infront of his belly. and if you need horns or eyes then go with a bow.

I don't agree that all weapons are "Great" on every monster. I think that every weapon class, depending on the hunter's skill is passable for every monster.

As for the question about Fatalis, I do think that Dual swords are a viable option vs Fatalis. I killed every color of Fatalis including my first couple white Fatalises with dual swords.

When Fatalis is in armor mode, ever location on its body, including the head reduces the damage (raw and elemental) to 10% so it doesn't really matter where you hit him unless you're going for breaks or stuns or something.

I read somewhere that the value of elementals on Dual Swords is around 20% less of what the number actually says so it could be deceiving.

Honestly, if your armor has guts with either sharpness+1 or sharpness, then fatalis becomes pretty easy.

Only crimson and white fatalis have armor mode, this is just for normal fata :P (and besides, armor mode=bombing run)

As for the element being lower than shown, I'm fairly certain DS make up for it with their shear speed at inflicting the damage.

but i need less replies about whether or not DS are viable for fata, plenty of points have been established. I need weapon suggestions!

You're adding two things that Nova didn't claim. That's bad argumenting haruno /no/.

Though there are indeed some weapons that aren't too good on some monsters of course (or just not as good as others, that's a matter of perspective).

That's like saying you solo'd said monster with said weapon when all you did was bomb it to death. That isn't using your weapon at all. If he claims that all weapons are great for every monster hunting a hr9 kirin without sword saint piercing and bombs with duals shouldnt be much of a problem.

I'd sort of agree on the bombs, even though they ARE in the game, it's a bit cheap. But what's the problem with needing a skill to make a weapon viable for a certain monster? There's many weapons that simply won't reach their full potential without certain skills, so what's the point?

Explain why you are not allowed to use a sword saint earring. You're basically saying one is okay, but using the other isn't? You could argue that for bombs (as they deal damage themselves, replacing the fight itself with putting them down), but i'd like to see you do that for the earring.

No idea why this is turning into an unelated argument but I seen Fatalis solo'd with a variety of weapons. Instead of switching to an entirely new weapon, ask yourself what you are comfortable with.

Some people say that using hammers are incredibly effective for rathian/rathalos, but I haven't had as much sucess with them compared to greatswords.

From what I can tell and what I seen, it appears that most weapons are pretty effective against fatalis with the possible exceptions of longsword, horns, and lance. Now the only reason I list those three is because I don't have that much experience with using those weapons, and also I haven't seen anybody sucessfully attempt killing fatalis with those weapons.

So basically, sticking with a weapon you are comfortable with and then changing your tactics based on the monster is sometimes more difficult than picking up and mastering an entire new weapons class.

I think win32erroer is right. I understand that you don't want to allow bombs, but I would really love your explanation why you give any restrictions besides from that.
