That would make no sense what so ever if you could behead a monster. It would imply that the monster is walking around with no brain which is retarded. The only case in which beheading would be acceptable would be in the case of say a multi-headed monster that could act as a hydra......THAT WOULD BE EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean you would have to do a lot of damage and it would be really hard to behead.
And if you do you would get special items.

I think it wud b cool as an end fight move and at the last hit you would have to punch in a certain combo for it to happen.

The problem is, a monster can't exactly fight without a head, and cutting the head off at the end like some kind of finishing move just seems like senseless violence to me (not that the entire game itself isn't excessive violence, but cutting off heads would make it feel like some sort of stupid mindless gore game, and really not even be cool at all if they toned down the blood, so either way, headcutting just wouldn't work).

that should only be if the monster's about to die, and then you stun them with a sns sheild or gs slap, then, as someone said, pucnh in a certain combo.
(it shouldnt be too gruesome)

As far as I'm concerned beheading is the same as death since in folklore, reality or doodles no head = dead. For those that say OMG LES MAKE IT A COMBO FINISHER OR SOMETHING!!! No monster hunter's known for it's simplicity and this ain't king of fighters with linking combos and stuff. Hell you can't even jump unless you're at the edge of a cliff in the series so how would a finishing animation go?

Maybe there would be a gauge that fills up slowly with each attack (very slowly) and when it's full you can do a special animation. I understand that it is senseless violence, but there are people in this world that like to see something cool even if it is senseless.
I keep thinking of Final Fantasy for some reason...

Not that I play it It just looks like the kind of game that would have a guy do some jumping around when you click buttons and make it look cool.

Sir, Monster Hunter is a game with more reality than other games out there. I believe that you should be able to take a monster's head as a trophy but only after you kill the monster

Would it be safe to assume that by monster's head you don't mean jaggi mask or the los hammers?

Like In jump four Jaggi, you should be able to carve a head after it's dead from the head as well as from the rewards :D

Uh, did you come up with this by yourself lol?

@Ugthorf wrote:
if there's a new feature I want, it's decapitation.

upon delivering 50% of the monster's total health in damage to the neck, the head sails off.

Possible when neck is separate hitzone, so, you can't behead the royal ludroth but you can behead a rathian. Epic music could play, (so long as it wasn't a capture mission. You'd pretty much have to aim for nothing but neck or monster will die before neck is severed lol, but you get bonus loots for the beheading, etc.

I think in some monster, the neck is a separate hitzone. Lagiacrus and Agnaktor is the best example for this.

you can see which monsters have necks here, section 7b:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/wii/943655-monster-hunter-tri/faqs/59207

yeah lagi and aggy both have necks too.

but of course this would be a new game so different monsters, etc.

anyway there's certainly plenty of ways they could do it. my idea was to make it a challenge to behead the monster before killing it with damage to other hitzones.

That actually sounds like a good I idea, but maybe only online and it appears in your lodge, and maybe only if they are gold crown monsters i.e largest or rare sub-species i.e silver rathalos /yes/

or,or,OR!!

How about when a monster has limped away and gone to sleep, you can cut off the head ONLY with a perfectly executed lvl3 charged GS swing. No combo needed, and makes sense.

Oh also the blade has to be sharp enough to penetrate the monster's skin, If it bounces, No decapitation.

Parents whos kids play this game may not like this, and complain.
It may be a bit gorey for a game like this, after all ive seen 7 year olds play MH3.
Does the MH series really need this to make it epic anyways?

No, I thought about what I read up there (in different topic).
So then I thought why not just make a topic about beheading.

Essentially I just used your idea...
