PostSubject: Gamestop super deal   Fri Apr 20, 2012 8:03 am

I am a gamestop power up rewards pro member. They sent me a deal via email. When I saw it this morning, my mind was boggled. It is buy a new PS3 for $100 and get either Batman Arkham City/ Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition free or get a new XBOX 360 for $50 and get the one of the two video games mentioned earlier for free. Now I am probably getting my wii back today, and my dad wouldn't like two game systems in the house at once. So should I trade in my wii, get a new PS3/XBOX 360, get a free game, and it is all very cheap?

Now if I get a PS3 I have to get Unite for it (I believe unite is on PS3), I also have to get Uncharted 3! Although, if I get XBOX 360 then I have to get Skyrim. Which one should I get IF I can get one of them?

ALSO HURRY UP AND PICK THE OFFER ENDS ON 5/3/12!!!
SO EXCITED WANNA GET 'EM ALL BUT I CAN'T SO WHAT DO I CHOOSE!

Well, first off, Unite is for the PSP, so owning the game would be a moot point without the system, (You use the PS3 for Ad-Hoc connection) continuing off of that, Skyrim is available on the PS3 as well. I'm tipping towards either the PS3 or keeping the Wii.

I'm leaning towrds keeping the wii but for different reasons then Lagi listed....

If you are not in a hurry to get one of the current systems out and if your family is in the mind set of (one system per house) I would wait all together. The new generations of systems are fast approaching and even though you may miss out on a few of the games in the short forseeable future in the long run you will benifit from being able to save up and get one of the new systems when they come out (or the current ones out 3DS/vita).

Also Gamestop does great deals on trading in older Nintendo systems for newer ones.... (wii for WiiU might get you a good discount)

Any ways it really depends on if you want to wait or not. Are you wanting to benifit in the short term or long term?

keep the Wii

and like wat dcj said, you might as well wait til the next gen consoles comes out since itll prob be comin out next year?

BUT...if u like shooting games get an xbox 360 ;) ALL DEM SHENANIGANS ON HALO/CoD/Battlefield...the only drawback is paying for XBL but they they dont close most servers so it compensates

and if u wanna be cheap, get a PS3, u still get most of the xbox games but u also get free online....and the drawback to this is that servers will close frequently to older games...

If you give up the wii you're giving up tri, zelda, mario games, and a gamecube, nes, snes, n64 and other consoles via virtual, not to mention some wii ware games are quite good too D:

Sorry for double posting.

I think if I trade in the PS3 when it gets old, for the wii u, then I would get a better deal. It costs more and has better uses.
I'm thinking short and long term.
Over time PSN servers will shut off, then I shall trade it in, if I haven't completed offline on other games.

I'll ask my dad what he thinks and probably take his words as advice.

Axel, I'm confused. Why even post and ask. It seems like you already made up your mind before posting and every time someone suggest something you post why you aren't doing that or why it's not a good idea. Or that's the way it sounds. So, just do what you want, seems as if you didn't need any advice and no point in anyone posting here if there was no point in the post being made in the first place.

If I am missunderstand however please explain.

no bungie does not make halo anymore microsoft bought the franchise.

343 industries is owned by microsoft, and are the current game developers of halo.

This.

Slightly off topic, however GameStop related. Apparently, I can trade in my Wii for a whopping 40 American Dollars. So much for the WiiU fund. All the games I'd be willing to sell with it probably won't get me much more.

I had already partially made up my mind, but I wanted input. If I hadnt come here I wouldn't have known that halo is for XBOX 360. I will tell you guys what I will do, if I convince my dad to do what I want, or what he wants:

WHAT I WANT:
I want to trade in all my useless old wii games/equipement today so I may be able to get extra money off the $200 price of the PS3, it will be lowered to about $120. $120 dollars for a new PS3 and game is unheard of. I will give up on the wii, and keep MHT, SSBB, twilight princess, etc. (good games) as antiques with the wii.

WHAT MY DAD WANTS: he wants to send in the wii to nintendo, they will fix for $90 and it'll be back soon with my data. AND. he will by me a PS3 in summer.

I know what you guys think, my dad's option is better. BUT. I have to wait until summer for all those amazing games, and who knows how many servers will be shut down be then!?!

No today is the last day of the deal where I get $50 off the PS3 making it $200 and I get one free game. So I must convince him today.
Cross your fingers and prey to your deity of choice. If you want me toleave Tri and go to PS3 (I'll get MH dynamic hunting for iPad.)

Also if I get the PS3 I am not leaving the forums!

You're biggest problem with you're dad's idea is that during the waiting time, servers might go down? Trust me, you have nothing to worry about. Halo 2's servers were up and running even a good time after Halo 3 was greatest thing ever.

I get your point, but I still really have a lot of free time after my wii broke (about 3 weeks). I was bored, and still am. And I really am not a patient man when it comes to video games. I would w8 but another month and 1/2 is quite sometime to w8 for a PS3 IMO.

AH! I have an idea!

What I shall do is tell my dad that I will use the PS3 to go on the internet during the week for studying for my end of grade tests coming up. I will though, I won't lie.

Axel: now you've provided us with better information. That would have been nice to know from the beginning. So basically (you just don't want to wait).

Though you may get gratification now in the long run you may miss out on quite a few things more. As Zel said, I wouldn't worry about servers shutting down. Your dads option is Better and by waiting you end up with two systems and not just one. Also by waiting at least until E3 in June you will get more information on the release dates of the new systems coming out.

But whatever you decide good luck.

Also, when you make a post asking a request about something give the full information up front, let everyone know what it is you really want up front.

Edit: also look at the history of Sony and their new systems and how they work with older systems games. If you get a PS3 now and a ps4 or whatever is announced in June at E3 make sure you won't be losing out in the long run. Just FYI.

Sorry, about not giving enough information. I'll remember to do that from now on.
See I am leaving the wii option because the wii u is coming out in 2013? And by then I will probably have beaten quite a few PS3 games. Wii games I beat quite quickly, because they aren't that long (twilight princess, MHT, SSBB, so on are exceptions). As with PS3 games (batman Arkham city, uncharted 3, etc.) they are longer than MOST wii games. I think...

^ What hic said. On several occasions it has been said that they will release the WiiU between June (after E3) and December (by Christmas) world wide this year. (the popular US rumored date I think is November 18th?)

And hopefully they learned from the 3DS launch. Meaning... The WiiU should have lots of launch titles to choose from.

Sorry. Money earned off XboxLive subscriptions goes to Microsoft, not the developers who pay themselves to keep the servers running.
