| This is about where Randies get their info from, like lance charge is good, upswing is more powerful than superpound ect. I'll start I went looking for the lance contorls and saw this guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/wii/943655-monster-hunter-tri/faqs/60132And I quote; I want to make a note about the dash attack while I'm on the topic of status. The dash attack can used to close distance between a monster and you, but it also has many other uses. The dash does a quarter of the normal damage dealt from normal thrusts, but does half the normal status damage compared to normal thrusts. This makes the dash attack a valuable source of inflicting status quickly on a monster. Dashing is also very useful on a limping monster. You can easily inflict enough damage to make it stagger and allow some free hits from your allies.

| Well the problem isnt the attack with randoms, its the way they use it... Like the lance charge, it CAN be useful...but majority of the time they spam it and knock around team members. As for the hammer upswing, bad timing maybe? | |

| Yeah I just checked with MID. I used nega-babylon(it has huge paralyze) and an infinite pitfall. Lance charge definitely does half status damage per hit. That's where I stop caring. I'll believe element is .25 without question.
The reason I don't care much about the faqs, is because sometime they're wrong in the worst way possible. Like the gun ammo data. One day I'll find it in memory and make a nice table for the real gun ammo data. Hopefully without "sometimes multipliers". >.>

| I find it irritating when they use pellet shots without seeing if I/other teammates are the in way. I'd say lance charge can be useful sometimes although, I only use it as a way to move faster xD. Off Topic somewhat: I hate it when there is someone who CANNOT use Flash bombs to save them selves and freaking blind me. (: | |

| Can you lance charge Ceadeus to repel it? Like with Spiral Heat or something? | |

| As has been said, lance charge does low damage, and fairly good status/elemental damage. So it's okay to use if you want to inflict status a lot (there are better options), but not for dealing raw damage. As far as ceadeus goes, he can't be inflicted with status, making the lance charge subpar for dealing damage (the biggest problem is usually the drain on your weapon's sharpness).
Now, as ceadeus is fought entirely underwater, you'll use the charge a lot for moving faster. This will allow you to get a few hits in when you've broken his beard, and most of these will be on his tail (a pain to go for otherwise). So yes, you can use the lance charge for moving faster, but do not use it when you could be using stab combos.
Note: This is kind of an old thread, and you could have asked it in the question hotline.

| Lagiacrus armor and Spiral Heat for high element damage and low impact on the sharpness? So charge and then stab until you're near the tail then charge back to the head? Alrighty. | |

| Well, with sidehopping, you should just stick on him untill his beard breaks. At that point, just try and get in a few hits with the charge, not like you'll be able to catch up with him.
If you're lancing, lagi armour isn't that important though (olympic swimmer doesn't matter much if you can lance charge). So you'll probably be better off with rathalos or something else that boosts damage. Element attack up is nice, but is almost always outclassed.

You are lancing, right? Try out dorris spear (Yellow) instead. Unless you wanna keep the lagi lance un-upgraded so you can get the luminous organ or upgrade to high lagi lance. :> You'll do the same amount of raw, but the dorris spear will get more damage in with its element type. Lance poke that tail :D Oh. and you could also try lagi armor and gem it up to get attack up M :>

| I'm lancing because I find it easier to fight Ceadeus with a lance rather than a longsword. Personally, I still find myself failing to hit the Dragonator or sucessfully bomb his horns, which is likely the reason I keep failing the mission in the first place. I'm trying to do that without needing the Dragonator.
The water itself isn't the problem, I can destroy a Lagiacrus with my Dancing Flames.
