Despite Tri being some marketing ploy to get western wii players into it, do you think they'll be a new Tri for the wii. Lets face it MHT is a wicked game and has more hours already than anything other game I've played but with 17 Small monsters and and 18 Boss monsters, there's only so much Jho/Jhen/Ala you can take.

I suppose Capcom didn't wanna bring out hundreds of monsters and sub species, weapons, armors ect when there is nothing really like monster hunter in EU/US but surely its time to ditch crappy portable games and make another big hit on the wii/xbox/ps3.

35 - MHt
72 - Mh3G

In monster hunter frontier there as so many more monsters and they update it. I know this is either impossible or very difficult without having to make a new game every time on the wii. And it doesn't make any sense in Tri that there are less 'prey' monsters to 'predators'. This alone is nonsense.

They could easily find success by making something bigger and better. 3G is local multiplayer only which is awful. The whole fun is meeting friends online around the world and thrashing everything together. Not HOPING 4 people you know buy it! J

If they just made 100 Monsters (Bring them in from old and new games) a nice collection. Make servers bigger. Better graphics? A more 'open' world. Surely this will attract attention. Add the ability to switch from Mature/PG game so younger people can get into it. I know I would buy it. Just something different.

A HARD end game monster? Like Raviente its more than 4 players! Make events like that. The Jhen event, High version could be against a massive Jhen, 2/3 Boats of 4 players? It would make it a lot more fun? More people could play together? Cities of 8? I have more than 4 friends online at once but I can never play with them all in the time I play.

Come on Capcom. Bring out a bigger monster hunter!

Just an Idea, thoughts add em in ... Before you bother saying anything ask yourself If I would HONESTLY care about hearing it first/other members of the forum.

I think Capcom have hinted at a MH game for the Wii U, and they've definitely said there's at least one more coming to the west, so... who knows. It's Capcom. No one knows for sure.

I suppose Sad by vort The Wii U looks rubbish anyway its a wii that links up with a DS/3DS.

They're just combining they're junky consoles together. Update your existing stuff. No-one is going to buy that. It's like 3DS the old XL's have seen more attention since the 3DS has been out. I was working at Game over Christmas and XL's tripled 3D sales.

If they made the Wii HD, added the standard DVD player, Updated the Motion plus (syncing every 5 minutes) and really take the graphics to a new level they'd have a good competitive console.

I mean its for kids so kids like DvD's?

why do people think a console needs to be a DVD player. You have a computer for that. Computers nowadays can connect via HDMI to a TV anyways, so who cares if a console has such frivolous features. Wii U is already HD, and has 50x better controller than the wii, that actually has the potential to play non-motion games in its raw form (as in not buying extra controllers to make it less of a stupid design). I don't see why people are so dickish about the system, other than its horrible name. It seems like a good step forward, and although it won't be sporting an nvidia 690 as its graphics card, in the end with super HD consoles, people don't particularly give a shit about having ultra hi res or normal hi res. I for one don't give two shits whether battlefield is on ultra, or just high, as long as the game works and looks decent.

This is how Wii U will be. Just cause it isnt SUPER OMEGA hi resolution with 300 frames/second, does not mean it is going to suck. It's already a great graphical system, what really matters is the motivation developers will have to make games that utilize what Wii U offers to make the very best experience. Too many haphazard games were released on Wii due to the fact people were like LOL MOTION CONTROLS? NO GAMES ON THAT SHIT

Anyways, with a system that isn't solely based on motion controls, the Wii U can really grab the better third party developers once again and actually have a better lineup.

I think a console should have a DVD player for a start It saves you having to buy a DVD player for your living area, Having to sit at a computer all day and watch something. Or moving your computing in range of the TV to hook them up.

The Wii U is still not a step forward. The Wii U is a DS you hook up to the tele, it's hardly a massive step forward in gaming you could hook a GBA to your Gamecube. I didn't actually know it was in HD (sorry about that one Yes by vort ) Its going to be so long before this gets out and companies make a GOOD game on it. It's not going to deliver the results Nintendo want. If the 3DS now is only just flourishing with better games coming out, who's going to have 300 off quid to buy a Wii U to do stuff they already can on a 3DS/Wii?

Its like the launch of the wii - It was massive, so many brilliant games came out quickly. They had it sorted. They bring out motion plus and quite frankly a poor Zelda game for it - 50 down the drain. Twilight princess was amazing and Skyward sword was a moneymaker.

They should let the 3DS get into its stride and focus on some more killer games for that and develop a solid system for the Wii U that on launch day/week/month has some big games. And not just a celebratory Mario Kart and Zelda game. But invest in a new series, new idea. Just sticking Mario Kart and Zelda in when Ninty launches a game gets boring. and they get worse.

Re: First Post

The proposals you have sugested are contrary to Capcom's sucessful style of development. MH3 seems to be a very calculated release to court a new audience period (not Western players). As such it was simplified but streamlined. A quality versus quantity. There are less monsters than in the main games, but each one plays very uniquely. A good example of this kind of thing is Tastunoku vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Although MvC3 has a huge roster many of the characters are fanservice and fillers. In TvC each one has a balanced playstyle and while tiers are there isn't such a huge dichotomy between them.

The portable games are essential to the MH life cycle and style. Yes Capcom releases the same game lots of times intentionally. With MH it's create a main game. Gather the opinion and data from the players on what weapons and monsters work or don't. Then release a portable that fixes these issues with extra stuff. Only die hard players will notice the flaws in the console version, actually care for the extra monsters, and be willing to buy another version. Capcom has done this enough times with other games for anyone to be upset by this.

As for ditching the portables, that would lose a huge number of the players. Community is huge in Japan. Playing the same game with people in person (include the friendly stranger) is infinitely superior and more enjoyable than on a computer. It is because MH is cooperative and a great game it is phenomenal in Japan. In fact MH is probably the only thing keeping the sony portables afloat for a while. The only thing close to it in the West would be Mario Kart or Pokemon in that if you go to another person with a DS they will have MK or PKMN on their person. Sadly the US doesn't have a culture where you can have impromptu matches with strangers say on the bus, the checkout line, or mall. (Interaction with strangers is discouraged. No I don't mean "stranger danger." I mean the source of resorting to "who the hell do you think you are to tell me what to do?!" for nearly everything.)

Capcom has MH down pat. Most of your suggestions are the generic Western improvements of HD graphics, autonomous online multiplayer, and lots of an lots of stuff for completion/points/trophies/achievements. Having something like another MH for the West, awesome 3DS-WiiU comparability like MHP3, street pass usage, or blatantly in theme but new mechanics like siege engine rentals are more ideal.

Btw there are means to join the more recent MH portable games on the Internet via Ad Hoc or whatever that service is called.

No it's not "Just" a wii that links up with a DS/3DS...
It's the next console iteration from Nintendo.

When was this, before the price drop or the release of newer games? The 3DS has been seeing a nice increase in sales now because of the price cut and addition of games...

DratosAIK wrote:

Huh?
ok ok, I agree with the motion plus thing, but syncing every 5 minutes? :/ Shit, there's a re-calibration issue, but there's no syncing every 5 minutes, that's just absurd.
The DVD player is not needed at all, the wii sold plenty without it.
What the wii lacked for other games was something to do with its architecture. It didn't have it like the competition so it lost out on quite a bit of games.
Now the Wii U is getting that.
Games can be made for it as well as having them made for the competition.

Now to take graphics to a whole new level, they'd have to literally surpass what we see on the PC, you know, that device that sits in the room that can surf the web and stuff?
It can be constantly upgraded with more powerful tech and improve graphics along with it.
This feature of the PC is what generally makes multiplatform titles on it the "best" version.
A game that's sub-HD upscaled and 15-30 fps on a console would be (with a good enough rig) can run that said game in true 1080p with a constant 60fps.
You can also have better AA too which can smoothen out the jaggi's that appear on the screen.
For the U to have graphics like the PC.... It'd have to be up-gradable, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

@KratosAIK wrote:

Or, you can actually buy a cheap DVD player if you're willing to pay 200+ dollars for a freaking gaming console, praying with whatever sanity you have left that it has a built in dvd player.

They can't own the newer games coming out on the Wii when the Wii U comes out.
It's not even close to a DS you can hook up to the tele, however I can see why you'd presume that, it's an entirely new console with a new controller with a screen.
It can have games with two screens (One for the controller, the other for the TV. The similarity between the DS/3DS is that dual screen functionality.) and a game that can swap between the two screens (Play on the TV, then swap that game to the controller and play)

Now for it to come out and get good games for it....
What console has had such a fortunate launch to have so many great games available from the start?
That was CERTAINLY not a positive for the PS3... The "top of the line" console priced at $599 that was supposed to "sell"...
It ended up not having many games for it (although it was kinda related to its architecture... But the Wii U is apparently very easy to develop game on).

I do believe that it won't produce the same results as the wii though... but only time will tell for that.

Oh? It's like the launch of the wii? So... It's gonna burst out sales but since it has a similar architecture as the competition, it's gonna get some multiplat releases?
I know people don't like Skyward sword right now (people didn't like TP when it first came out lol and called it a money maker zelda game, so I'm gonna wait for the next zelda game to come out so that skyward sword will get some praise XD).
Skyward Sword did things differently, and I like it.
The story, however, was annoying with the "prove you're the hero" constantly thrown at you... Even when you held the skyward sword!
I liked the game for what it was, and didn't dislike it because it was "not like other zelda games".

Funny thing about this post.... We don't know about the games for the Wii U yet... So....
They've been doing support for the 3DS though, and E3 can release a whole new batch of information about new games.

i don't really understand why they made a small amount of monsters in the game. It seems like all console monster hunters in the west will always have a small amount of monsters. Psp MH's had a lot of monsters. MH1 didn't have much, and Tri didn't. MH2 had quite a bit but its only in japan! Just face it. Capcom hates the west.

If they advertise the new games, they'd make more. Tri had success with it. If there were more monsters, i bet there'd still be a lot of people on. Oh how i miss having filled up servers. If future MH's are cancelled for the west, well...see ya guys in Japan.

There's about 5 games there I'd want to play on the Wii U, the rest on Xbox. Darksiders and Batman will be awful. Watched the E3 footage, the only thing that looks like it could be called progress is the introduction of Rockmin in Picmin 3. Batman Arkham city looked identical aside from being able to motion control your batarang and have anew power attack mode.

Microsoft has a WAY better line up of new games. Nintendo have recycled the same 3 mario/luigi games at every console launch. its getting stupid paying out for the Same mario 64, Same mario Bros, Same mario kart over and over because I comes out on a new console. They have really ran out of ideas. There was not one game on that list that made me think WOW they've made a new console and made a BRILLIANT new game for it. I can get every one of those games (bar maybe 2-3) on my wii/DS and Xbox. Why should I want to buy that piece of Junk

Its pathetic.

Spoiler:

Same Halo...same Gears of War... All of these companies are the same. They'll continue to rehash the games that sell. Nintendo just has a bandwagon of people against them.

Anyway, the reason Tri didn't have a large amount of monsters was to avoid overwhelming new players. If you'll recall, it was an attempt to introduce the world to Monster Hunter.

I understand that it was to introduce the west to monster hunter and to introduce MH to the wii, but surely they could do something else with that now. Make a new wii game now people know the concept and enjoy it. They've enough on the PSP.

Yes but with Gears and Halo there is a progressive storyline and they alter the game dynamics to enhance gameplay. The New super mario bros looks identical to first apart from you go gold.

I'm just hoping Capcom find a console/handheld and stick with it.
I'm getting sick of having to get a new console/handheld whenever a new MH comes out.
(Yeah..I buy my own consoles D; )

I like it on the Wii, it's great, it's a change, it works.
(Yeah, the graphics aren't the greatest but graphics aren't too important, take Minecraft for example, it's really popular + fun and the graphics look like distorted Lego.)
I think a new MH for Xbox 360/Next Gen Xbox is a hideous idea.
Xbox 360 is great but honestly, imagine playing online with whiny kids
(I realize I am a kid, I'm just not whiny, well unless what I'm doing right now counts as whining)
who think they are some sort of multiplayer gangster.
I'm not saying all XBL players are like this, the majority aren't,
but out of all the consoles, I'd need to say Xbox is the worst for players like those.
(Only IMO.)

However, a Westernized PC version would be pretty awesome.
(Totally not hinting that MHFO should be westernized..)

Actually, you probably wouldn't find the annoying little kids on xbox. Kids don't like a challenge, they whine about everything possible in a game, and rage quit all the time. They wouldn't be able to handle monster hunter's difficulty.

Plus all the kids are on cod 24/7.

Random story: I was at a paintball arena at a fairground like place, in the waiting room there were a bunch of little kids talking about cod. They talked about the "skills" in the game, like 360 shots. They thought they were gonna kick ass with their cod skills. End results come, their jackets covered in paint.

Looking at the WiiU it looks more like a psvita with a disk thing than a ds that can be hooked up the the t.v it looks to be an awesome console. Nintendo is not known to be like Microsoft and Sony, they get breaking new tech out there and then the other two try to improve it quite often Microsoft seeing the best results (the have a controller free set up while ps3 it almost the wii just the ps3)
It looks to be a console where you can play huge massively powerful games on the disk but anywhere in the house (I may be wrong but the screeny controllery thing looks portable)
