Because Master Onion wouldn't object! Simply discuss about the Sword and Shield... Also, no negative things about it like "SnS is sooo bad! Go Lance dawg!" Okay?

The most fun to use, yet the least practical or powerful?

The deadliest SnS is hands-down without question the Deadly Knife.

So deadly it doesnt even need status/elemental damage :l

It's rank 3 with BLUE Sharpness. It's that badass.

I'm working at making it for my most recent character.Decided to do more SnSing with this alt.

Forgot how much fun it can be using SnS,especially on lower ranks....well,at least I'm having fun with it.As I stated in my previous post,I would normally only stat SnS but it grew on me this play through.

I doubt I'll ever be as pro with any weapons as some of the forum members, but I know I'll be pro at having fun. :o

MODBUMP

I pose to you a challenge: make a sns setup for fighting against a specific situation but you may only bring 3 types of item (you may not use supply items). Paintballs only count if you bring bombs and you may gather more items in the field. You may use any armor, weapon or item as long as it does not conflict with the scenario

The first situation is trying to kill a diablos in the desert during the day without using cool drinks at any point.

Nardebosche, Dat Diablos killer. It's all I use anymore, It's a ton of fun to rip into him with the icy toothpick, surprisingly strong too. I haven't tried with the added no hot drinks though, HR or LR?

EDIT: all I use on Diablos anymore... (i <3 hammers)

High rank. What armor set would you use?

Hmm...generally I prefer overforged lagi for sns-ing but in that scenario I guess I would attempt to gem in Heat Cancel (Hi) while keeping the ele atk up. I'd have to tinker with that a bit..

Id probably use LR Rathalos with los+ helm...seeing as you cant use cool drinks, heat cancel would be your best friend then. Just gem it with heat cancel (Hi), AUL and crit eye+2 and you should be good to go.
Nardebosche already has very high affinity, so I think AUL is better for it than crit eye+3.
It is a shame there isnt evade+1 but hey, its still decent imo.

That sounds like a nice setup, personally I would prefer to have ele atk up on nard in place of the AUL that will come with raw, if its possible to get a set to do that. May have to utilize some torso up somewhere or something. It has decent (for an sns) raw as it is and massive ele

You could use this maybe...its the same thing but with Element up, Heat cancel (Hi), AUM and Crit Eye+1. The tali isnt too rare either, Ive got one like it.
No Torso Up needed~

That would definitely be a strong possibility. I will probably make that and give it a shot after jhen+ week is over. I was looking at a lagi based as well to keep razor sharp since they dull fairly quickly but really it will come down to testing and retesting.

What are some of the sets that you use? Also, what are your best sns times in the arena?

Also i think my best times in the arena, the one with ura and blos, was somewhere around the butt end of 7 minutes, almost 8. i had help but i was using the poison sns and Kaiko has been playing for two years and told me it was the fastest time she had ever gotten on that quest. also i solo jhojho with ala star in like 32 minutes at my FASTEST without dying. i almost soloed ala the other night but ran out of time. his tail was gone and one of his wings was shattered but someone told me if i had used nardebosche i would have won instead of using ala star. oh well, try try again right? :p

Nah, I was just curious about what she likes to use. I don't really meet a lot of people that use sns so I like to ask that question to all of them, just in case they have a really awesome set that makes me go http://i47.tinypic.com/vxdpwo.jpg

Hi people, just had to sign up to add my 2 cents to this thread, though I've been lurking for a while.

SnS is by far and away my main and favourite weapon, I'd played through offline, then got to HR140 before I used anything else, so I might be able to give Tiffy a run for her money.

Compared to the other weapons I think Sns is underpowered, but hey it's not like I care if a quest takes 20 min rather than 15 min.

As has been mentioned a great advantage is being able to use items quickly, which helps both as team support and when playing solo, you need a very small gap to quaff a potion then block the incoming attack.

I think an under appreciated aspect is the shield bash, Ura is just asking for it and it also does a good job of slowing Bari down.

It also punishes you for button mashing, you'll often pay for that extra swing or 2.
