Loka like not. Nintendo has always been more open on putting in the efort for western releases where as Sony has had a history of not doing as much. Looks like the same with the MH series. Nintendo did a lot in getting tri to the west.

I'm still keeping my hopes at level, it's not a strict confirmation yet... after that I'll feel the great joy~
But it's still even more good news for the chances of western localization. /yes/ Really do hope we get 3G~

Serious discussion:

So it appears Monster Hunter 3G will not support "online" play, only local area multiplayer. This leads to several problems. In the west StarFox 643D was heavily criticized for the lack of online multiplayer. Nintendo knowing the negative reaction that SF not having online caused may be apprehensive in releasing other games in the West that include non-online multiplayer. In small areas with heavy populations that play games such as MH having only local Multiplayer is not such a big deal as others to play with are usually easier to find. In many areas of the west gamer communities seem to be a lot more spread out. Hence the reason for the complaints about SF643D.
There are a few things Nintendo and Capcom can do:
1: Release 3G in the west with local areal Multiplayer and hope the want of the game in the west outweighs the complaints of no online Multiplayer. If however the complaints are great enough it could lead to the game selling poorly and cause a profit loss for both companies. This may also influence both in not wanting to release later installments of the MH series in the west.
2: Capcom and Nintendo could work on a 2nd version of 3G for the west which will include online play. This could end up costing a lot more in the long run and may prove to be pointless. With MH4 announced (and the likely hood of it having online play being very high) by the time 3G gets a significant update to include online play MH4 could already be coming out. It's unlikely that they would want to then release 3G in the west at all.
3: Nin/Cap could announce 3G being Japan only with a promise of MH4 coming to the west. This of course will have mixed feelings for most people. Some will be happy with this but many will complain that we have to wait another 1 to 2 years for a new MH game in the west while Japan gets P3rd, P3rdHD, 3G, and 4.

My thoughts are this. I personally would be happy with MH3G coming to the west with only local Multiplayer. It would at least give us an MH game to play until 4 comes out. But again I think this option would be more up to the fans of the MH series and not just nin/cap. We will have to be happy in getting a MH game with no online play. I would be fine with that but I think few others would be. But I could be wrong.

How would you feel about getting MH3G in the west even without online multiplayer? You can still play the offline game and occasionally when you do find others with the game play multiplayer then. What are your thoughts?

Personally, I'd be getting it without without online multiplayer. Although local multiplayer would mean that I could play the game with fewer people (I know one other guy who plays MH in my area, he's the one who introduced me to it), it would also mean that I'd be trying harder to get more of my friends to start playing the games. And that would benefit Nin/Cap as well.

I don't mind a lack of online play, as long as I can access all of the games content without it.

I say release it as is.

I was saying this from the beginning and today i readed it.

Now , Capcom is making stupid mistakes since MH2 , Tri was a new start and i hoped for the best wich was seeing 3g or MH4 released for a homeconsole and brought to US and EU with a good online ( and a great gameplay ) .

Capcom went from "making an hardcore game with an high learning curve with a great gameplay to we want your money" and in the dumbest way possible wich is bringing the series to portable consoles , i mean the ones who are real mh fans were always ignored by Capcom by never bringing a REAL CONSOLE MH until Tri and when they did we got it several time after Japan (wich hurts the fans and the sells ) , this made Tri a commercial failure in US & EU for Capcom ( opinable ) .

And now they bring AGAIN a good series to a portable console? On top of that no real online or any way to play it with ppl around the world? ( Kai may be the solution ) That's the epitome of stupidness and i feel like Capcom is making fun of every old date MH fan.

I am angry with Capcom , no way i'm going to buy a 3DS just for a crippled MH , Capcom can keep their incomes from Japan , no need for us to enjoy a real MH. Cool story.

Imma say this , screw Crapcom , i'm going to play Dark Souls wich will be an interesting and challenging game on a homeconsole with a good online.

^ Good example of why Cap/Nin shouldn't bring games out of japan...

Crathen: "this made Tri a commercial failure in US & EU for Capcom"

Tri actually sold really well in both regions and had fairly decent ratings. It also introduced a large new population of western society. (Also the forums membership sky rocketed after tries release.)

In fact here are the scores given to try from several different places.

Review scores
Eurogamer 9/10
Famitsu 40/40
IGN 8.8/10
Nintendo Power 9/10
IGN UK 9.3/10
GamingUnion.net 9.0

Crathen said: "in the dumbest way possible wich is bringing the series to portable consoles"

The list of Monster Hunter games includes: (not MHfrontier is considered a spinoff game and not listed below)

Home consols:

Playstation 2:

Monster Hunter
Monster Hunter G: JP only
Monster Hunter 2: JP only

Wii:

Monster Hunter G: JP only
Monster Hunter Tri

PS3:

MHp3rd HD: JP only (modled off of the handheld version)

The total of home consol games for the MH series consist of 6 games. Only 2 of which were released outside of Japan.

Handheld:

Playstation Portable:

Monster Hunter Freedom

Monster Hunter Freedom 2

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd: JP only

3DS:

Monster Hunter Tri G: release area currently JP only

Monster Hunter 4: release area currently JP only

6 total portable games for MH have been developed or in production. The actual MH series did not however become as popular of a franchise as it is today until it was released on the PSP in 2005.

Outside of Japan we have only gotten 2 home consol games but have gotten 3 handheld games and a possibility of 2 more.

Crathen said: "On top of that no real online or any way to play it with ppl around the world?"

It still supports multiplayer and has a full offline game. So does a game have to have online to make it a good game?

Crathen said: "no way i'm going to buy a 3DS just for a crippled MH"

Then don't. Not every Game is for every person. You may not like it but I am willing to bet there will be thousands that do. Not everyone will be happy. Most never are. Even the best games have people who hate them. BUt there is no reason to be upset. Don't get this MH game and don't get a 3DS. Just wait for it to be on a system you want it on or like you said, find something else to play. But don't become that upset over a game.

Dcj i respect your opinion , but:

1 Internets / magazines ratings never interested me , never mentioned in my post , Tri introduced a large new population of western society because of being an home console game ( Wii , wich is the best selling homeconsole right now ) and commercials.

Tri is a great game indeed and got many things right , however it didn't sell well as you want to think outside Japan , at least for Capcom.

2 Read what you wrote: factoring Frontier the MH series is spread across 6 gaming systems ( PC , Ps2 , Psp , Ps3 , Wii , 3DS ) , is that how you build a real fanbase?

Oh and on the " The actual MH series did not however become as popular of a franchise as it is today until it was released on the PSP in 2005 " , it's not true , a good amount players are from the ps2 days , they spread the word of MH , but we may agree that the PSP MH's were the only way MH fans could still be playing MH after MH1 servers were shut down.

"Outside of Japan we have only gotten 2 home consol games but have gotten 3 handheld games and a possibility of 2 more." And that's bad for me and many players who wish a homeconsole MH instead of switching / buying handlehelds systems , not just to play , but to experience MH at his best , i swear i can even wait another 2 years for a homeconsole MH instead of having a portable one right now.

3 "On top of that no real online or any way to play it with ppl around the world?"

It still supports multiplayer and has a full offline game. So does a game have to have online to make it a good game?

So did MHF1/2/FU , the game will be decent by itself , i'm criticizing ( and quitting ) Capcom because of the MH diaspora from homeconsoles to handlehelds ( especially 3DS and we all know that N is not really known for good online experience , not for the game itself , but i would have hated it too if it was announced for vita ) , Djc worldwide online is a must today for cooperative games like MH ( wich is meant for multiplayer from the beginning too ) , not implementing a worldwide online for a console that could be able to do that is just dumb,

4 Then don't.

Don't worry , i'm cool and calm , i will not buy it. And it's not just MH3G , MH4 too will be for handleheld console , i'm not upset with the game itself , i'm just annoyed by how Capcom is making the MH i / others that played the first MH a cash cow and constantly denying a home console MH wich everyone in EU/US awaits since MH1/2.

So...in the end , i'm not upset over a game , life goes on , i got work , a girlfriend , a band and lotsa things to do , i'm just sad of the way Capcom wants MH to go.

Cheers! /yes/

I wasn't trying to sound mean or negative towards you though rereading it did kind of sound that way.

I agree to a point. It would be nice to have more home console games for MH. But I am in no way unhappy that another handheld is coming out.

I started with MH one as well and I think more for me I Just don't care what system it's on as long as there is one. I may never get to play it but at least it exists.....

dcj has a good point most people cant seem to play without online and starfox3d is an example of that even though i didnt mind starfox with no online cause thats how i played the played in the past and it was still awesome.

I dont mind triG with only local play it will give me something to play till MH4 comes around.

I find it hilarious though, when people always say that they play single player games more and actually prefer them.

thats true people do claim that and filp once it doesent come. I really dont see what the big deal was with star fox i mean if their true fans of the game they shouldnt mind playing it the way they enjjoyed it the past even without online the game improved its local multiplayer and graphics and i love it without online.
but on TriG the only reason i worry is cause i dont want certain quest to be available only in local multiplayer and not in single player. if thats the case i would prefer if they did add online due to the fact that none of my friends play monster hunter so it would be hard to get the quest, but if not im sure the single player will deliver plenty to do with all the extra content. If all the quest are available in single player that would be excellent for me. I do agree though gamers act like nearly every game should have online and seem to have forgot that we all had fun without online when it was rarely available.

In all honesty I would like the game to have online. However, that's more because there aren't a lot of people who play monster hunter in my area.

I'll be perfectly fine with the game even if it doesn't have online though. It's monster hunter, I'll be playing it until the universe ends.

As for the rage on the first page, I have my own issues with capcom, and aside from frontier none of them are monster hunter related.

I'm just really excited that I don't have to go buy a vita to play some new monster hunter... I would, but then I'd probably have to wait longer to get the money for the console.

I wasn't part of the ps2 monster hunters (I don't think I was actually aware the game existed because as far as I can remember I never saw it in any stores in my area) however, I do like the ability to hunt monsters on the go without having to lug around a console.
