I'm wondering if there is a good all-around armor set in tri or if you have to change constantly. Also, is the alatreon armor the best or just ok? Iv'e played with high HR players and though I've seen plenty of alatreon weapons, I can't recall seeing any armor. Thanks!

You don't need to change your sets constantly.
Vangis Set: http://divinewh.im/s/1.s_1b_1h_1a_1g_1e.q.s_11.t (AuL, Sharpness +1, Autotracker). It's not like you'll necessarily need autotracker, but those skills are good enough for every quest.
Ceadus/vangis: http://divinewh.im/s/2_1f.1S.1R_1l_1e_m_1e.1S.H_19.j.1S (Sharpness +1, HGE, Evade 2)

Also, is the alatreon armor the best or just ok?
It's okay. There are certainly slots available for you to use to take out demonic blessing, but overall, it's skills aren't as good as others. http://divinewh.im/s/2_1j.1O_1p.1S_1i_1o.1S_1m_19.j.1S
Evasion up is nice, and you can gem in evade 2 if you really like. However, the awaken skill is only useful when you use an item with a latent attribute that can only be triggered with awaken (ei, something like reaver calamity will only exert raw damage unless you have the awaken skill to awaken its latent dragon element). Personally, I've always thought blightproof was a subpar skill, because you can just bring berries on your quest. If I had the choice, I'd replace blightproof it with something else.

Preference really is all it's even about. Blademasters don't worry about resistance, therefore your best defense and skills. Get your favorite skills with your armor, and you're good.

I use full Alatreon set, because i like the look, and the skills are nice when you gem in some. There is enough slots to take off that recovery skill, and put in some other good ones. I put in evade +2

Dae answered this fairly well but she left out my favorite super try hard set
Vangis and Helios max damage mix set thing-a-mabobber

This'll serve you real well with any weapon once you get better at evading attacks and no longer need Evade +2

Ok there is a thread I posted for people to share custom sets like this thread, but what in the heck.

http://divinewh.im/s/1.1s_18.1t_1l_1e_1g_1i_t.J.r
nicknamed this the "powersuit set' (because i got bored lol) The set's simple yet works like i never thought it would. holds up very nicely against just about every monster if you can time the evade hitmarks right. any one-sloit weap goes well with it, but my weapon-of-choice with this set's Alatreon Metamorph

http://divinewh.im/s/1.1R_1m_1h_s.1M.1M_1g_1e.I_c.j.g
Pretty similar set here, just a few tweeks. still get that sharpness +1, but now alil attack boost to boot. You can do anything with with evasion skillz, so putting hunter vambrace+ with its attack & evasion skillz already in was a no brainer with the tali. autotracker was just kinda a "ech might as well i have slots left" addition, but without the 2 psychic gems you still have detect. best recommendation on a wep here would be any jho weapon; purple sharpness, 1 slot to fufill the gemming and the highest attack weps with attack up (s) gives this set a great edge all around.
