So there's a new trailer out for MH4:
Make of it what you will.
The new snake monster looks badass, it's great to see something like Raviente being added, although toned down in size (drastically).

Antari18 already posted it in the charge-axe thread, since this video also shows a good chunk of how it works, and what it can do. I do like the snake-like monsters they have added. I really just think they should localize Frontier and make it a pay service. I would gladly pay to play this MMO style.

Ah I see, just read that thread now...
On the topic of frontier though, let's look at some aspects that if we COULD get it, would make for a bad idea to bring it here... The game's almost 6 years old now. It feels very dated compared to Tri, despite it being able to sugar coat its age. It's an outdated MH game compared to what we have now and what we are getting in the future (MH4). Pretty late to bring that sort of game here now, don't you think?
But what's wrong with playing the console MH games mmo style? There's no real reason why one can't; the only difference is lobby size and abysmal drop rates in frontier (although not as bad as in some other games). Same HR system, and with MH3U on the horizon, same goal to rank up higher than what most quests cap out at. More content. You can fight more monsters in Tri U by ranking up higher than HR8. The only thing "mass multiplayer" in MHFO really is the Raviente fight. And even so you're still limited to 4-man parties with 4 NPCs, in up to a 32-person battle. You're not all in the same party fighting it.

Honestly... MHFO was a bit outdated when it was released.. in some ways, the look style and feel just never seemed to match up to what large scale MMO's were doing even at that time.. Though a good game still a bit lacking..
As yama said and I agree, why not just make a console MH MMO and leave out MHFO all together.. From the way MH4 looks so far it's not that far from being one.

Oh man I am so excited for the bug staff, forget the lance counter, now you can just fly right over em and bop em on the back mid air. Also it's a bug weapon. So I am contractually obligated to love it.

That serpent monster with a bird's head! I swear, when I saw him I paused the trailer, turned my head to my wall to glance at the poster I have of a creature which looks the EXACT same.
For a moment I had to wonder if they weren't the same. Of course not, since my poster is six years old, but yeah. Stupid coincidence.
I'm loving that monster so much already. It looks so cool! (otherwise I wouldn't have a poster of a serpent with a bird's head, duh) And I am so glad they are finally making new serpent monsters!
And what about that monster during the final seconds, of which you only saw the gigantic slithering tail of?

Okay, so what I'm about to post is complete speculation and mainly just me being extremely hopeful, but about 2 minutes in, the trailer shows this:
Spoiler:
The globe in the background leads me to believe that MH4 is going to have region-free online. It's very likely that the globe was purely a design choice made just because it looks pretty (we still don't know if MH4 will even reach those of us in the West), but that's what I'm inferring from it.
Also, there are 3 receptionists at the counter, which means we'll probably see a G-rank or a G-rank equivalent in MH4.
Edit: An after-thought about the 3 quest receptionists. The third receptionist could also mean the return of Tri's Arena quests, rather than G-rank, but I'm leaning more toward the possibility of the Arena being separate from the Online quest hall.

It probably has more to do with the fact that MH4 will take place in several villages.

You can see the hunters are crouched down; it's probably part of a hunting area. Would be nice to see those felyne and melynx enclaves have more use though...

I'm aware its in the hunting area, but it looks a lot bigger then the puny felyne cave that was in Tri. But I guess they would never put a whole village in a hunting area, so it's probably just as small as the cave but more fancy. What a shame. /sad/

This trailer makes the game look very cinematic, I saw at least 5 cut-scenes! And the multiplayer looks really fun (one player clinging on to the monster while the others slash at it XD)
EDIT: guys, look at about 1:29 in the video, what is THAT? Some kind of mass crafting with little hyrulians and a flying monster that you can only see the bottom of...
