Just wanna say some strange things on my mind about monster hunter.

Are all Gigginoxes female? because every one you fight lays eggs.

How does a hunter fall 100 feet and not get so much as a bruise, yet a large ant (Altaroth) ramming into a hunter draws blood.

How does a Monoblos "drop" it's heart?

How can getting pinned and then bitten by Jho not tear out organs?

How can getting charged by Diablos' horns not impale the hunter/huntress?

Why do hunters always stop and cheer about being healed by a potion? I mean after the first several hundread you think they would realize that it's going to happen and not be suprised by it any more or realize that stopping to be flex your arms is just going to get you hit and lose the health you just gained!!!!

How are you not sliced in two by the Shogun Ceanataur's claws?
How come Plesioth's pressurized water beam doesn't one-shot you by punching a hole straight through your armour?
HOW CAN YOU ROLL WITH A GIANT ROD UPRIGHT ON YOUR BACK!?
How do Bowguns work underwater?
Why are you strong enough to hold an iron hammer the size of your torso or a greatsword longer and wider than you are and not break your back from the sheer weight of those weapons?
Why does sharpening the hilt of a weapon (or handle in the Hammer's case) sharpen its tip?
How come with 1-4 passes your weapon gets spectacularly sharper?
How come hammers go through monsters instead of getting stopped dead?
How come a greatsword/longsword cuts cleanly through a monster's neck without decapitating it?
How do Hammers and Hunting Horns not break the monster's bones?
WHY ARE THE MONSTERS SO FREAKING HUGE!?
How do you get those skills from armour you killed monsters for?
HOW CAN YOU HAVE A GIANT SAND WHALE LAND ON YOU AND NOT BE DEAD!?
How can you carve a tail and only get a miserable scale?
When you do carve a tail from a tail (somehow), how do you not get its contents? This includes Wyvern Stones, Rath Rubies, Sapphires, etc.

PostSubject: Re: Strange things in Monster Hunter   Tue Nov 06, 2012 3:32 pm

Out of curiosity after reading this thread I decided to try out many of the things we see in Monster Hunter in real life to see if it was actually like that...... Unfortunately I discovered that not everything in Monster Hunter was easily found in my local area... So I improvised….
I figured I'd start with the easy things first… I drank and energy drink…. I did in fact feel a bit more awake than before I drank it… I drank 10 more to make sure it was not a coincident. I do not believe they woke me up any more because the next thing I remember it was 2 days later and I was lying on the floor feeling very sick.
I couldn't find any "Potions" so I just drank something green that had been sitting in my icebox for a while.. I took a drink first and flexed my muscles.. nothing.. next I did it and didn't flex… My stomach got very sick and I vomited. So I figured that the Hunters must flex their muscles after drinking potions to keep from getting sick…
Next up were the weapons and using them under the water… I had stuff I could pretty much use for each MH weapon and a lake near my house so that would be no problem. I started with the bow/bowgun underwater.. This was a bit tricky as it was hard to see through all the sludge in the water and my eyes burned a bit.. With the bow I kept missing the string but finally I got it all set up… and realized I couldn’t hold my breath that long and gulped in a big thing of water and mud. After an hour or so of hacking up gunk I tried again. Though I cheated and kept my head above water and only the weapons below. I pulled back on the bow with the arrow securely notched, let go and watched as the arrow kind of just spun back over it's self and floated downwards… the Arrow for the bow gun did a bit better but not by much. The swords I had were all hard to swing…
Now, time for the monsters!!!!! Sadly the only thing I had close by was the zoo with anything close to big enough in comparison. With my bag full of weapons I went to the local Zoo and upon trying to get in I was abruptly stopped by security. I explained that I had all these weapons for a very important reason and that I was trying to prove if the Monster Hunter game mechanics had any basis in a real world scenario.. They actually seemed interested until I explained I had to kill a few elephants, tigers and bears.. (oh my) and carve them up to see if it worked or not.
Well… defeated I went home.. But all was not lost!!! I accidentally stepped on a lizard who lost it's tail!!! Using my pocket knife I began to carve it up for anything useable.. There was nothing and the tail was ruined, so none p it could be kept…

as for the bow, you clearly need to press the fire button for a longer time. you probably just tapped it that's why the arrow didn't go far.

How come holding a greatsword behind you preparing to swing make the swing stronger than if you normally swung it.

How is it that a Pit Trap can dig an 3 Meter (At Least) deep by 5 Meter Diameter hole in under 5 seconds? And WTF did all of that dirt go?

Why do you eat last thing before departing on a quest, then eat meat or drink energy drinks first thing upon beginning? How fing long is that airship ride?

Why are there so many noobs in the expert servers? Or in "Skilled Players Only" cities on Recruiting servers?

How do the Mobs walk on Lava without taking damage?

How do the Mobs with severable tails maintain their balance after their tail is cut? (Especially Jho! His tasil has to weigh a minimum of a ton)

If I'm sitting in the Tavern, How can I whisper loudly enough that someone in the armory can hear me, but the guy having a pint directly across from me cannot?

How can I mix items and ammunition mid-battle, using the Combo Books, with my gun out, and scoped in? Even while getting the hell knocked out of, so long as I made it into that screen before taking the blow.

All of that being said, I will give credit to the Dung Bombs. If someone threw a ball of shit at me, I'd run away to the next area too.

One thing I saw lastnight..

How can a mighty fully charged Great Sword, brought down onto the head of the (not so mighty) Deviljho knock him out, rather than split his head in two?

^did you ever start a quest and found a monster with it's tail already cut? if not we can assume all monster with their tail cut die not long after (or regrow it? or hide out of shame never to be seen again?)

I mean as in the actual hunter/huntress. Not the person playing. xD

Gobul's Lantern will cause stun effect when used, however, Flash Bombs leave the fellow hunters unharmed. Despite the fact that it does exactly what the Lantern does.

Plesioth can ram into you without ever making physical contact with your body.

Rathian's severed tail can still inject poison.
