Agreed online play is great, and, yeah, you should be kicking yourself for not being excited for this game long ago. I have never played a more addictive game.

These forums are chock full of knowledge and experienced hunters. There are also guide sections for each MH game/generation. Specifically one for Jhen, which will explain all of the finer mechanics of that battle.

You, also, may want to take a minute to fill in your Hunter Sheet, so that everyone knows which region you play, as well as how to find you online. You can find this under the profile tab just under the forum banner. Click on the far right option that says "Monster Hunter Information".

This game is seriously addicting, haven't stopped playing it since I got it back in September

After me and my bro got help from two HR 742 ppl for Jhen we saw them use some tactics we were still figuring out, like how to use the gong to stop his horn slam into the Dragonship, how you can still hit the inside of his weakpoints after breaking them, etc

The proper uses of the Dragonship weapons on a Jhen hunt are not very widely known, but are very simple:


* Gong: Only when he's going to Belly Flop the ship. These will always come from Portside. In the second phase of the Jhen hunt, when he's creeping up on the ship, don't use this until after he is close enough. Literally right up on it. It takes 5 muinutes to recharge (iirc).

* Ballista Binder: At the beginning, while he is Starboard, he does 2 different kinds of shoulder nudge, a minor and a major one. Bind the major one. You can tell it bc it has a much longer windup. You will also use this once he jumps the ship, and is coming in to ram from Portside, and a little aft. It takes 3 minutes to recharge (iirc).

Once he jumps the ship the first time, you can tell the difference between if he is going to ram or flop by where he appears when he surfaces. If he is far out and aft, get ready to Bind. If you see dem horns coming out of the sand close to the ship, Gong.

* Dragonator: The instant he pops out of the sand after his first breach, hit the nator. In the 2nd phase, this can be used to stop a flop, just like the gong.

* Cannons and Ballista: Unless you are using Jho or Ala weps, these are the weapons you should be using. Jhen has extremely resistant hitzones. Use the cannon when he is within range. It outdamages the Ballista. When not in range of the cannons, use the ballistas on his horns.

hopefully I wont need to fight him anytime soon, my bro did a little research and I think he said jhen runs if you get his health below 60%, well we failed about 2-3 times because he destroyed the ship, and another 3-4 times because time ran out, turns out the amount of damage we were doing was pitiful.

And I used to have a big difficulty with Jhen at first as well because he always destroyed the ship. Just keep trying! You'll get the hang of it, especially with all these people giving you great advice.

I figured we just needed stronger weapons, since you only get 30 minutes to do damage maximize that.

My cousin was over the night we tried to fight him, once we decided to ask for help wee were just gushing over these two players, rank 742 and 744 with full Deviljho sets, and they just wrecked Jhen, seriously we had our jaws on the floor 70% of the fight, both of us mostly sat on the ship firing the ballistae and cannon because our weapons barely scratched him

I can tell MH is a great series since it only took me a month to get excited to the next release, even after dismissing this one at first

I can't imagine being that strong, i tried capturing a Qurupeco high rank (turned out to be my smallest one) It called Deviljho, which from videos I've seen looked small, it killed my brother with a single hit from full health, and when it chased us down again it took me down to about 10 health in a single blow, It woulda killed me with its second head swing if it hadn't knocked me into the next area

Thankfully we had felyne dungmaster and were able to chase the Qurupeco far from the Deviljho.

Its kinda crazy for me how strong High Rank armor is. Let alone the monsters we've had to fight, if it wasn't for two players dividing their attention I doubt we'd be as far as we are

Lol if you want I am willing to help today also get to use my secondary character if the mood hits me.

My brother is in school, and I don't like leaving him behind in HR. Right now we were planing on doing Cold Call, to get Dark Metal.

We did it yesterday, but one of our cats disconnected the modem and kicked us just as we were about to beat Barioth, and when we did it a second time I got a Dark Metal, and he got squat.

Ah okay I understand well if I am ever available I am willing to help though lately I haven't been on US server all that much lol.

If your on around 4-5 we could play, the only things I really do if I play during the day/morning are mining and farming, since the harvest tours give you only like 5 HR and Moga Farm is a cheap way to get honey and dragon toadstools
