The return of Nimda!(FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY)

On April 20th, 2010 I began playing Tri on my Wii.. The same Wii I got at launch in 2006. By November of 2010 the constant playing of Tri and the age of the Wii began to take it's toll on the system eventually shutting it down for good. Having Bought a 2nd Wii System I began working on a new character Nimda.. This one was actually used to play with several forum members at the time... But never felt the same as my first character. The attachment just was never there I guess. Work and other duties kept me from playing as often as I had really hoped as well as the dream that maybe my original Wii would once again work, which in the fall of 2011 (or so) it did off and on and I was eventually able to find some on in early 2012 who was able to repair it fully. This lead to my abandoning Nimda fully and once again focusing on my original Tri Game.

In November of 2012 with the release of the WiiU we were informed that the MHtri and all Wii data could be transfered to the WiiU.. This was a wonderful thing as my original wii once again began to malfunction. Once the tranfer was completed I checked to make sure that my Tri data transfered correctly and sure enough it worked flawlessly.... Until a discovery was made that would lose my original Tri data and all My wii data forever.

The New WiiU I had purchased on Launch day had malfunctioning USB ports.. Not a single one worked and not external memory or other devices could be used on it.. ever.. I had to send it to Nintendo for replacement.. This lead to the loss of all the Wii transfer data.. ALL OF IT!!! The only thing that could be saved what the eshop information... or so I thought.. I recieved a 2nd WiiU which had a Malfunctioning HDMI port and therefore could not be used either.. once again it was sent to Nintendo for replacing.. They of course were very friendly and appologetic for everything.. The 3rd WiiU has worked great since I recieved it but without the Tri data and having already Done the Wii/eshop transfer I saw no reason to start over again on tri for a 3rd time with MH3U's release so near...

Last Night I decided to go ahead and redownload all of my Wii eshop games and virtual console games (due to the recent announcement of the WiiU virtual console and the disscount you will get if you already own those games and have them downloaded on your Wii/WiiU.) Well..... They didn't work... My download games and extra content would not work..

Once more I contacted Nintendo (we are now on first name basis.) After talking about MH3U and a few other new games announced I explained the situation. They looked into it and discovered that because of the multiple times they had to replace the WiiU and Transfer over My eshop account it corupted my data... Making it impossible to recover... HOWEVER!!!! They keep a record of all purchases made. They could not give me back the content I had purchased. What they could do is Delete the information on everything I had ever purchased on my original Wii since I bought it in 2006 and reemburse me the WiiPoints on my WiiShop on the wiiU for them.... Every single thing mind you... I though.. well I lost all my saves, all my data.. everything so I'd have to restart regardless so hey why not.. They appologized for the problems and stated that the balance could be used for anything not just the original purchases..

Upon further talking to them something else was discovered.... The WiiU is capable of having Multiple Wii's transfered to it not just one. Any multiple saves or games will be over writen by the last one transfered but to me this is no big deal as I have no save since the original one was lost anyways. I asked how that would work with the esho.. She stated that the points I got reembursed would be combined with any from the 2nd system or any others added as well as any games purchased on the eshop of the other system becoming available as if everything was from the same system.

That lead me to thinking.. I still have the 2nd Wii with my Nimda Tri data on it.. and other Wii save games.. !!! Though no where near as far along as my original Character it wont be starting over and It will give me a chance to play Tri a bit more until it goes away and MH3U is released for demo and sale...

So in other words...

A truly tragic tale, what you described about Nimda not having the same feeling as your original is the same thing that happened to me. I guess we'll be in the same boat heading to the shores of MHU ^^

I don't understand people and how they 'make' characters. I just have one character and that character had my name and is me.

It's very much like how an author makes a character. It's also like playing any RPG (even though this isn't an RPG pre-se) you still make and contol a character in this little storyline here. We dress them up, we have them run around, they fight, we make them eat... and sometimes we can grow to care for them.
I do the same thing to help me get immersed into games as well. Not all games, mind you, but some. And I have to admit that this is one of the games that I find myself constantly making stories for and caring for the characters. I even admit to thinking about what they might be doing when I'm not "playing the game"! Are they talking with people in the village? Making relationships? Flirting with Guildie? Nursing their Felyne/Cha Cha's wounds?
It's not something everyone does, but yeah... some of us do. /yes/
