I'm hr 42 and I'm after his hammer and lance I've gotten 1 kill in and I play on farming him for when I'm 51 and can do ala, < ignore that just answer the question XD so for farming him should I get his hammer or lance? I'm pretty good with bolth but hammer cant hit that belly alaywas, But it can do knock out, but lance is nice defense and It can reach it's tail and I do need tail's. with element up it seems to work alright, please don't go off topic, why I shouldn't get this or this or this will do that better later, Just witch would YOU choose to farm with if you had no other choice, as this is way better then what I'm using against him currently. choose one and tell me why I should choose it over the other, and I'm only considering his hammer or lance. Thank and this is my first post so if there's an issue tell me!

Tl;Dr - Lance or hammer?

Against Jho I'd advise going for lance, unless you're really good with hammers, but even so, you're going to be dealing more damage with a lance, since hammer hits are situational for what Jho is doing, since you won't be at the feet disturbing team mates by smacking set constantly. So a thunder lance might be a more efficient option, especially with element up.

Personally, I'd go for hammer, since I don't lance. Though for Jho I'd usually use a longsword or axe.

I didnt understand your question... do you ask what is good against himor what weapon should you get?

anyways... as stated before, lance is pretty good against jho, if you get barrioth+ armor or agna+ you can kill jho really easy with lance, I wouldnt recomend hammer since the head is really small...

You should get jho hammer, it has nice raw.

I think the lance is not that good.

I'm going to get hammer or lance and I'm going to then be using HIS own weapon against him to far for further upgrades.

Okay..Id get Jhos hammer hands down. Deviljhos hammer, Devils Crush P is the best hammer for raw in-game. It can attain purple sharpness like Alatreon Metamorph can, but Jhos hammer is better than Metamorph on monsters not weak to Dragon element due to its higher raw.
Deviljhos lance is not worth getting in my opinion, its outclassed completely by Alatreon Gleam and is fugly to boot.

On a sidenote...welcome to the forums Shealio, hope you enjoy your stay on this forum.

Hammer on jho isnt the best choice, as he doesnt stay still often enough to get many KO's off. Though if you have a support or status gunner, it could work pretty well.
If you plan to hammer him, bring plenty of para meats as jho is a glutton and will eat them to induce paralysis. First time he eats them it takes 1 meat to para, then 2 for a second etc... but dont expect more than 2 paras without a gunner.
You could also pitfall him when hes hungry making it easy to triplepound his head, as monsters that are hungry stay in traps twice as long.
Sometimes jho will simply be too big to hammer however, so be sure to bring plenty of pitfalls and shock traps for when hes drooling (hungry) to help you pull off KO's. If hes too big for superpounds to hit him regularly, then Pitfalls are your best friends.

If you got room in your inventory id take 1 pitfall, 1 shock trap, 2 trap tools, 1 net and 1 thunderbug. That way you can take 4 traps if you have combo books to help the success rate.

Lance on Jho is godly in my opinion. If you have Barioth+ armor, you can evade though ALL his attacks (even his hipcheck and Dragon Breath). You can use Agna LR or HR too for guard+2 if you arent confident with evasion just yet, that still works well.
As for damage, Lance has amazing damage output on Jho if you aim for his stomach alot, due to the pierce type damage that lances can have (they can switch between piercing and impact damage types, depending on which is stronger), which goes right though Jhos defence.
Id suggest either High Undertaker, Amphritrite P, Alatreon Lance, Alatreon Gleam or Skyscraper lances if you have any of them.
Alatreon Gleam is the best choice lance here and its not terribly hard to make as it doesnt require Skypiercers or Azure Dragon Gems to make it. It does need a fair amount of tails, but a few tail runs on Ala makes short work of it.

This.

Gleam + High rank bari armour + Mega dash juice = solo jho all day every day.

I apologise, Vivi, I'm going to have to disagree with alot of what you said there.

First off, leave the status meats in your box, especially if you plan on hammering him. Jho will stay fatigued most of the hunt, so long as he is not fed/does not eat. When jho eats, he regains stamina (and a lil health, iirc). With that he gains some resistance to status effects (because it bumps him into a non-fatigued state or rage), aside from the resisitance gained from exposure to the status or trap itself.
Also, the recommendation for multiple meats- only if you want to look like a total noob. You can rely on 1 status meat to do its' trick, but I have never seen him eat two status meats of the same type fast enough to inflict that status again. Personally, I don't feed him at all, and try to keep him from eating Popos/Aptos/Rhenos.

On the Hammer: I consider the hammer to be more of a support wep due to its' class multiplier. Hammers, on average, do far less damage than most people think. If you go this route, I would suggest using a set with Focus and Sharp+1. That will increase both raw output and the amount of KO/Exhaust that you inflict. Also, the triple pound (Atk, Atk, Atk), only while he is KO'd. The rest of the time you should be Super-Pounding (Fully-Charged Overhead Slam) his melon, not his bellah. The easiest way to train yourself into this, is to watch him as he turns, predict where his head will be, and let it fly. Takes alot of practice. Also, when you're under him (as in not approaching from the front), face his head with the Charged hammer. That way if he takes off while you're laying it in, it still hits his leg or belly or something.

This is also where the "No-Meat" comes in. He's easier to KO when he's fatigued for 2 reasons: 1.) He stays still more and moves slower on average, and 2.) He takes more KO/Exhaust damage when hes fatigued (Lower Resistance). As far as the hammer itself, exactly what Vivi said.

On the Lance: I personally wouldn't waste the mats or monies to make it. It's far outclassed by the Ala Lance, and has no applications that are specific to it.

Evasion+1 and alot of practice is all that you need to effectively Evade-Lance Jho. You can hop or slide through everything that he has, with the right timing. What they may have been trying to tell you, is that a set of full Bari+ armor is a good way to familiarize yourself with the basics of Evade-Lancing. I would put Item Use Up and Speed Sharpener on that set and use Dash Juice instead of Mega Dash Juice if you do go with Item Use Up. MDashJ does'nt receive a benefit from Item Use Up, just as Mega Pots don't.

If I were in your position, I'd go with the lance. It'll have higher and more consistent dmg output. Plus if you find yourself all alone against him bc too much has changed in your fellow hunters' past (LOL, they all dc), you'll have a much better chance of finishing him off yourself.

Hope that halps!

Isn't the class divider/multiplier useless? I mean, comparing all the Alatreon blademaster weapons, they all have the same true raw... Or are you meaning something else?

The class multiplier (As in hammers have a multiplier of 5.2). Meaning that the final calc in the hammer's damage formula is going to divide by 5.2 (As best as I can recollect, been awhile since I've actually done any damage maths). It has the highest reduction of all of the weapon classes.

I'm not calling it weak. Merely stating that it is better defined as a Support wep, rather than a primary damage dealer.

Well, you can evade through his attacks without evasion+.

:D

It just takes a bit more timing.

The switch axe in Tri has the highest class divider.
It's a massive 5.4.... Not that means anything other than a higher "displayed attack pwr" XD

And no, there is no real reduction being done at all, since the class divider/multiplier doesn't really matter at all except for displaying your total attack power.

The true raw of most weapons are somewhat similar for most weapons.

One advantage to the hammer is the KO and exhausting properties, which allow it to effectively slow and stop a monster, while also being a VERY effective heavy hitter too.

I was mistaken on the SwAx multiplier. Thanks for picking that up Meh. Don't want to dish out incorrect infos.

And to clarify, I wasn't ever calling the hammer weak, only stating that I consider it to be more of a support weapon due to it's KO'ing/Exhausting attributes, which are the wep's main focus.

As the previous posts have mention, you are better using your materials on the Jho hammer, as the Alatreon Gleam/Lance way outclasses the Jho lance.

I myself tend to take full agna+ gemmed with evasion (as I tend to use guard for his body slam and evasion for his dragon breath) as I myself being a lancer primarily I have played support roles of status gunning, for when people want to hammer Jho's head, or followed in JFizzle's footsteps and Longsworded him, after all Jho, I find is one of the most easiest monsters in game once you are prepared :D

I think you may be mistaken there, oh my brother. The only time you will catch JFizzle with a LS is during Land Lords. Otherwise the wep does not accomodate my styles of killing.

I think you may have been referring to Andrew's suggestion.

I should've probably elaborated on here, I only used long swords on the land lords quest too, sorry for the confusion there...
