I've been searching for a while and apparently I found no fishing sets on the internet. Can you guys tell me what armor do you recommend? What skills affect fishing? I know Fishing Expert is kinda vital here. But are there any others?

Nope. Fishing itself is only affected by fishing expert. If you're only going on a fishing trip, something like great luck could help a bit for quest rewards. Or flame aura to keep some mobs away.

But don't do it for resources or materials, fishing is pretty useless when it comes to that.

I used to have a Fishing/Transporter/BBQ set that was nice, but I deleted it from my Box (Memory thing for sets, w/e it's called). I found it to be terribly inefficent compared to the Hunting Fleet.

Plus, if you use the hunting fleet, they will bring stuff to trade with the Argosy, and you can troll other mobs for LR parts that are good for trading the trade lady online. You will also get stuff like Dash Extract, Pale Extract, and other useful stuffs, not to mention turn your farm faster.

IMO, fishing = useless.

Chaimail Armor. In addition to Fishing Expert it has Combination Pro and Combination +25%. Fishing Baits and Ammo are the only craftable items that have a chance of making more than one when crafting. Goldenfish quests are very easy if you bring both Goldenfish bait (max 5) and crafting materials (and a Farcaster.) Also Fishing Expert is optional since it's -harder- to get two fish with one bait.

Why fish instead of just using the fleet? Fishing is a valid and simple way of getting stuff early in the game. Small Goldenfish sell for 300z and Glutton Tunas produce Steel Eggs and Black Pearls. More importantly though not every has the fishing fleet. (Yes there are some people who are new to MH3 or started new files.) Fish are still super useful when if you get them by fleet or hook.

Well fishing quests despite being pretty useless compared to Fleet, are quite fun acctualy. I found it relaxing Yes by vort After over 1500 hours I'm looking for some new experiences in Tri, because normal mobs just bored me (hope it's temporary). I've seen recently many hunters doing fishing quests so... i feel like, why not to try it since i skip it during single and low rank.

I was asking (mabye didn't express it properly) about some mix sets, because things like Chaimail and Leather are quite obvious.

Fishing expert is irreplaceable as well as Combination Pro and Combination +x%. Great luck will suit here pretty nicely. Thx for tip. Next thing which comes to my mind is Gathering +2 and Speed Gatherer to help if you run out of bait. What do you think? Divine Whim doesn't affect bait i guess so it's useless.

Just think outside the box and don't take this game too serious. I'm not new to this game and knew about benefits from the use of hunting fleet. My question is what is theoretically the most usefull set for fishing quests. Set which provides the most effective way to deal with them in every possible way.

How's this for a set?

http://mhtri.comeze.com/armor.html?0_1r_r.1Q_o.1H.1H_1g_1K_f.19.1B

Skills:
Combination +45%
Combination Pro
Gathering +2
Speed Gathering
Fishing Expert

There's a lot of possible talismans that would work. If you use a 2 or 3 slot weapon, any talisman that gives you 10 skill pts in Fishing or Combo Plus will work.

Other skills I thought about getting would be Detect, so you'd know where the monsters are, thus allowing for fewer interruptions during your contemplation of the meaning of life while looking deep into a Mystic Narwhal's eye.

Actually, I happened to just be doing the Moga Woods free hunt last weekend, and decided to stock up on Frogs for Gobul. And ended up with worms. Little did I know that you can fish out Mystic Narwhals! So I spent almost half an hour trying to catch a Narwhal.

How I felt after:
