Btw, heres HGE, sharpness+1, awakening and destructor. It does require weapon slots and a FreeEelemt+5 talisman though.

right now im wondering if rock steady is useful to prevent LSers from constantly knocking me over when i lance.

If so I would really want to make a Guard +2 Rock Steady Honed Blade set... but i need a crazy charm for that to happen lol

I can see that in the future Nether armor with different legs and head will become new Helios + Vangis Legs set from Tri. I mean endgame set overused by everyone, well suited for speedruning.

Steel Uragaan is what I would choose for non-mixmatched sets. I am also disappointed at this lack of sets. maybe I'll get around to making one.

on another note, would it not make more sense to separate some of these sets out by weapon? I understand the grouping, because they are similar weapons. however, I personally would pick drastically different skills for bow than bowgun, lance than gunlance, or sword and shield than dual swords. on another note, why is there no switchaxe section?

Added switch axe section

Also, I will post end game sets in the G rank section for all weapons.

Imho combination of Sharpness+1 and Challenger+2 is better than honed blade and there are many more flexible sets out there than nether variations +one usefull skill.

inb4: challenger buff only in rage mode and is useless.

PostSubject: Re: MH3U Armor sets library   Sun May 19, 2013 8:18 pm

Yeah i was doubtful too but test it out few days ago. The first set consist critical eye+3, pierce up and second challenger+2, pierce up. I tried G rank duram. The result with the second was way better in terms of overall time for solo and it took less ammo to kill it.

Basically what i learned is that Challenger+2 is like AuL+Critical Eye+2 when mob is in rage mode. Honed blade is AuL and Sharpness+1 all the time. So if you combine Sharpness+1 and Challenger+2 when monster is enraged you get free affinity boost. But that thing does not end here. Because those two skills are very easy to get (there are literally thousends combinations) you can gem in other skills like guard+, evade, focus, artillery etc.

From what i saw this combo is killer in terms of double monster arena quests because there's always at least one monster enraged, so it's like permanent buff there.

Don't get me wrong i fully respect honed blade and i think it's a great skill to have. But the fact that literally one armor in the game give skill points for it makes it kind of limited. Or maybe i'm wrong... meh just ignore me.

You can mix almost anything you want with honed blade.

Already have honed blade evasion focus and stamina rec up in one set, challenger and sharpness up is for people who don't have an edgemaster talisman.

Also, as I said, I always want high attack, not only sometimes. The most important time to have high damage is when the monster is tired, IE not in rage.

I only use lance GS and LS though, so LS is really the only one I see challenger being useful for me. GS I always crit with anyways due to crit draw and lance is best with guard skills.

Well try it yourself on arena and you'll see what i mean. It's hard to get both monsters exhausted at the same time. It's like always one of them is enraged. And i don't agree that challenger skill is only for people who doesn't have edgemaster tali. I have +3 and still don't use it. Why? Because for me challenger+sharpness combo works better. But it's each one right to have their own opinion. So let me have mine and i let you have yours.

Btw sorry about that much OT. I didn't present even one set and yet rumbling about buffs and stuff :P

Edit. Also forgot to mention that i love my red glowing hand :D

i dont do shit in the arena, prefer to not throw my controller when it doesn't get me much in terms of weapons or armor /wink/

I always wanted sets with attack up L and sharpness +1 in tri, since those were hard as heck to do, when honed blade existed in MH3u i was like oh shieet and got it instantly. I don't really think about other skills because my way of playing is with attack up L always. I'm sure all skills are more beneficial at some times in comparison with others, but as I said, I just want to have the highest attack I can all the time, not sometimes.

Actually, Critical attacks are highly important. Since G rank weapons have incredible power, critical attacks are superior to sets with AuL. The following raw damage must be present in the classes in order for CE+3 to be superior to AuL:

Greatsword: 1296
Longsword: 891
Sword and Shield: 378
Dual Blades: 378
Hammer: 1404
Hunting Horn: 1242
Lance: 621
Gunlance: 621
Switch Axe: 1242
Light Bowgun: 351
Bow: 324
Heavy Bowgun: about 405 (This doesn't matter because most HBG are well above 440)

Of course, a combination of both Ce+3 and some form of attack up is always good. AuS is good on its own.

I hope you know this one of the best or the best armor you can get for GS , think twice about having focus and quick sheath .

i used Mhag for the GS set but there is no Grand Yamato Kote ?
