Don't you just love it when an article partitions itself into several random segments so you have to constant click NEXT PAGE>> to see it?

woah!
How is mh gameplay like? It looks very similar to dark souls, but is it?"

I love how people don't realize how long MH has been around and think "it's" like other games and not the other way around. Anyways.. Not to bad of an article.

i think when talking about something you would compare it to something else that is familiar to the one you are talking to, saying it's like dark souls doesn't seem wrong to me if they have played dark souls and have not played monster hunter before.

simply comparing one game to another doesn't imply that one game ripped off another game, only that if you like one game you might like another similar to it.

As long as it gets more people interested in the series and helps us get more MH games localized, its tolerable. ;)

@tirith I think you took it the wrong way. We were mearly pointing out how much longer MH has been around and is still relatively unknown here in the west even after 6+ games. 20+ if you count the Japan releases and the fact that MH came out in 2004 and souls only came out in 2011.

It was not ment negatively in anyway.

as if mh was the cover to dark soul. =)

^ Nah, not at all.. If it help people understand MH a bit better and then learn more about it.. it's a good thing. A lot of forum members first learned about MH through Tri then went back and played it on the PSP... So even though long time fans of the series may have a bit of an edge on some veiws, I try to keep an open mind.

The more "new players" in the west.. the More games we actually get... So it benifits us old guys/gals as well and if calling Laggi a croc or comparing it to dark souls help a bit.. I'm ok with that.. As long as they don't take it too far.

Godzilla is copyrighted... so they went with its opposite:

God = Devil
Zilla = Jho

I know that whenever I hunt with people recently turning high rank, they often scream: DEVILJHO! Whenever he sneaks into a quest. I like to pretend they are all little asian people and laugh as he eats them up for trying to go up and smack him. lol, get some high rank armor first, then come back.

All exposure to MH is good, since once people actually give it an honest go, they seem to get hooked.

Geek response in 3...2..1.

Though I like the way ya put that...

Godzilla in Japaneas is actually Gojira based on how the it is writen and pronounced "ゴジラ". Like most creatures in MH it's a Kaiju (or Giant Monster).

The actual word Gojira ゴジラ comes from ゴリラ meaning Gorilla and kujira クジラ, which means whale... So Godzilla is actually a Gorilla/Whale.. DevilJho can not swim as of yet which would be nice...

So, though Jho would fit the part in ferocity, Laggi actually does fir it a bit better in overall description of name and the ability to be both in the water and on land.

...... Geek moment end...

Though just going off the "western" pronunciation of the word... DJ fits the way you put it.

Seriously, Pokemon look so cheesy in COMPARISON (keep that in mind, since I'm changing the way I think of some of the pokemon) to MH monsters.

And I take that back, not all of them look stupid. There are some which are rather cute. (i.e Pikachu)

Honestly... I've played both pokemon and monster hunter for years I can see how people can see that there was some inspiration for MH from pokemon, but that is where I draw the line this ariticle was done by someone who only went on the wiki for information not someone who actually spent some time playing it to make a fair analysis. It's unfair to both games because they play nothing like each other. I can see why fans of MH take some offense to it but it can also go the other way around. That isn't the point I am trying to make here someone with such limited information on a series like that should not have been allowed to make an article like that it sounded more like a joke than a serious article I would have rather had someone give an analyzis and it be completely negative but pointing out those issues instead of making a joke of the game.

dont need a wall of text to understand some online articles are written by people who want to satisfy their job requirements and not by people who actually enjoy what they are writing about, and are frequently done based on wiki pages and nothing else.
