If you have a set with awaken it has a slime element to it for extra explosive damage, plus if you gem and tali it in you can get decent status attack out f it for para and sleep runs on Alatreon to break the horns. That's all I use my Kelbi bow for really, Alatreon.

But tonight, I was in a Grank room where a guy was using it on level 1 charge spread shot for small monsters like Nibelsnarf, Gigginox, etc. etc. I know it seems like it may be quicker to slay monsters but is using Kelbi bow on every monster really better?

The Kelbi Bow is actually quite good against weak monsters. The amount of damage the Kelbi Bow early in the quest is a fair bit (Because it can inflict allot of slime really fast at the start while the monster's tolerance is still low) so it's actually most optimal to use it on multiple monster quests, or just quests where the monsters don't have that many hit points (i.e. not the Jhen Mohran). So using it against the Gigginox is fine.

The thing I hate with most Kelbi Bow users is how they don't use the Kelbi Bow like it's supposed to be used. To many of them don't use Sleep/Para Coatings at all. And some of them that do use them decide to try to paralyze/sleep the monster by spamming their level 1 charge shots, basically wasting their coatings.

Gone through the Lagiacrus mission about eighteen times now. Still no plate.  Very Sad by Kasumi Starting to get a bit discouraged at this point.
Why the heck did they have to make the Ceadeus armor set require a Lagi plate of all things?

I'm assuming you are making the Low Rank Helios/Selene armor. If you don't mind losing one slot, you could always use leggings that have torso up. You'll still have all of the skills (Including the negative one) so it can still work quite nicely.

As for getting Lagiacrus Plates. If you're fighting the Low Rank Lagiacrus, then (Assuming you break the head, cut the tail, and capture it) you'll have a 13% for one. You'll also have a 2% for one from shiny drops. High Rank has a 17% for one assuming you do the same stuff. Except High Rank doesn't have a chance to give one from shiny drops.
The High Rank Ivory Lagiacrus has a 23% to give one assuming you cut the tail, break the head (Which isn't always easy to do), and capture it. It, too, doesn't have a chance to give one from the shiny drops.

I'm not sure what rank you are and what weapons you have, but if you can break the head, the Ivory Lagiacrus might be your best option for getting Plates. Unless of course, you just don't do nearly as well against them.

I'm actually quite skilled in dealing with Ivory Lagi's, but this is my newer file, so I'm limited to low-rank. It'd actually be a 14% chance, considering the 1% of just getting one in the rewards. But I might just go with the torso-up. Thank you for suggesting that.

Oh yes, I forgot the 1% from the quest rewards. And you're welcome. That's something I often do. I See if I can make an armor set better (or easier to make) through the use of Torso Up.

I think this is my issue with the Kelbi Bow. It makes using the bow too easy. You see, I started using bows in Freedom Unite where it took finesse and skill to become a good bow user. The Kelbi bow is easy mode bowing for dummies and I just do not like that, not when I've spent the past several years honing my bow skills.

The Kelbi Bow just as hard to use as any other bow if you want to use it to it's full potential. Most people don't use it to it's full potential and just spam level 1 charge shots. That works, but isn't optimal. Saying that the Kelbi Bow is "Easy mode bowing for dummies" doesn't apply to all Kelbi Bow users. So you should make sure you word what you say next time something more like this: "The Kelbi Bow is really easy to use pretty well, but just as hard (If not harder) to use if you want to maximize damage output from it." Or something like that.

It's unfair to those of us who use the Kelbi Bow correctly. Because we use it just as skillfully as any other bow user out there. We treat it like any other bow out there.

I don't think its as hard as other bows to use, personally. You're only using 2 different shot types, and rapid is probably the easiest shot type to use. Moreover, I don't think I've ever seen a Deershot user use the Arc Shot, so that's a massive part of the weapon going completely unused.

That being said, I think I'm pretty eletist when it comes to the Deershot. If I see someone using it, I just get inwardly mad, because I feel that other hunters might come to think all bow users are like that.

A lot of people don't use arc shots because of how outrageously disruptive it is for comparatively little returns. Considering Blast is easily the best arc shot, and in group settings never fails to blow your allies away; you're lowering your group's dps in the long run.

Of course if you're some kind of bow god and never hit allies with your arcs then fine, blast in particular does good damage and KO; but then there aren't any bow gods stomping around random rooms online.

I thought it was something like Crag S. Somewhat damaging, but serves its purpose... while Clust S still outpowers by a large amount.

I always thought Focus Shot, if used correctly, was the best of all Arc Shots.

Of course, I'm no bow/gunner specialist, so I'm only speaking out of little experience.

Well, blast does the most damage iirc, but can also blast (haha, get it? :P) your teammates that are around the monster and send them flying.

With certain bows I do not use the arc shot because their burst is a big bomb that knocks the poor blademasters off their feet when it explodes. That's not a very nice thing to do to your partners.

What?
Lancers online "turtle" all the time. And Gunlancers guard poke all the time. And great sword users just combo.

These are randoms, after all. Even at the highest of ranks, they still play like beginners.
