by Tencent Games made with cryengine3 , but for asia (china) only.

ps: i work for a big mmo publisher in europe and if you ask the people responsible for buying&publishing games about monster hunter online, you'll hear that nobody knows monster hunter as mmo game in europe/na. some know the psp games and thats it. its capcom beeing capcom. easier to publish 10 korean mmos per year than getting in touch with them.

How the **** does this look westernised? >.< Just because it's using a different engine doesn't make it different. It looks and feels like a MMO version of MH4, which looks very good to me.

I'll tell you one thing, this will be a much easier game to play then mhfo or mhfoG because of free to play. I'll defiantly try and play it when the game comes around

No... please... just NO. I want it subscription based! I don't have enough money for a F2P game ;_;

They will nickle and dime you to death, and you will never get to full potential unless you dish out extraordinary amounts of money.

I can see it now: armorspheres failing, and the need to purchase "powders" to make it not fail... weapon ingredients requiring some sort of paid component that will almost never drop of a monster. Combination ingredients that only come from the cash shop, and Rarity 10 items straight from the cash shop...

I really love the MH series... I will, however, never pick this up, if it is F2P... /versad/

I didn't realize this was going to be F2P, I thought it was going to be guild wars 2 style...

Black Rain said it was Free to Play, which everyone knows means you will NEED to dish out money to properly progress.

I have played MH-like games, and this is how they make money. You don't "have to" put out money... but it would be a severly hampered experience if you don't.

F2P just means that you don't have to pay for the initial cost of the game, but you will end up paying much more than a box cost in the long run.

My vote goes to subscription with absolutely NO cash shops what-so-ever... not for appearance only, or home decoration or nothing.. nada, zilch.

I am going by what has been mentioned on this thread. If it is NOT going Free to Play, then all is fine. If it is going Free to Play, that means that they are getting their money through a cash shop. And a cash shop + Monster Hunter upgrade style just does not mix at all.

Yes, and nothing has been mentioned in this thread in regards to it's payment style.

Then what is this:

I am done justifying what I said though. I still stand that if this game goes F2P, I will not be one backing it.

Nah MHFO is pay to play and you still have to pay for certain things on the side. If I read correct it was going to be F2P. I'm pretty sure it will be using a system similar to one in frontier.

I don't even understand any of that. You could replace "free to play" with anything in that sentence and it'd still make just as much sense.

Okay what I am trying to comprehend is what would be the big issue with free to play?

Monster hunter frontier could have easily gone free to play. Almost everything was available but there was still premium courses and other things that you could pay on the side it didn't give anyone an insane advantage.

Monster hunter isn't so much about the gear it is more about the players skill. You can pay for all the best gear possible but if you didn't know what you were doing it would not matter at all.

Spoiler:

I'm pretty sure this is going to be a free to play game. I'm sorry if I am wrong but this post on silicornera (which has never let me astray on anything game related) suggests otherwise.

That is in no way viable. There's no official source that says it will be free to play.
