PostSubject: G-Rank Questions   Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:47 pm

Hi everyone. This is my first topic on the MH forum and actually my first day of being a member (though I've always been a frequent visitor). I have a few, well, actually, a lot of questions about MH3U, mostly involving G-Rank amors and/or skills but also other stuff. By the way, I apologize if any of these questions have already been asked/answered on other threads, I'm kinda too lazy to search for them when I can just ask them myself. So here they come:

There are a lot of new skills in MH3U that weren't present in MH3. So I wonder if some of these skills are actually worth getting? I know what they do but I'm talking about the following skills: Sheathing, Tenderizer, Destroyer, Survivor, Gloves Off, Spirit, Unscathed, Teamplayer and Teamleader

In MHFU I remember that Pellet Shots were OP. Diablos was a pain in the (***) in that game but I could kill 2 of them in like 10 minutes with a HBG Pellet Set. So basically my question is: are Pellet Shots still so powerful in MH3U and is it worth to make a Pellet Set? And if so, is this set usable for some of the more difficult monster in MH3U (= Diablos, Brachydios, Nibelsnarf, Deviljho, Alatreon)?

Is the G-rank Jhen Mohran weak enough to be soloed or do you really need someone with you? I'm not a very good Jhen fighter (I generally just grab a SwitchAxe with a Dash Juice and Might Phill+Might Seed and then just keep swining at his weakspots) but I do know when to hit the Gong and stuff.

I have been fighting G-Rank monster for a few days now and I can't help but wonder: are they really just the same monster from High Rank but instead with 50% more health and the ability to 2-shot you? I fought the Rathalos a few times now (to upgrade my Djinn SnS), but he's not very different from the High Rank version except the fact that if he hits me once he does his Fireball-Take-to-the-Skies attack where he shoots a Fireball at you with pinpoint accuracy and starts flying and kills me. That's not how I felt in MHFU. So: is G-Rank really little more than 30 minute marathon quests where 2/3 hits will kill you?

All of those skills are not worth it except for destroyer or gloves off

Normal ammo became the new pellet. It is very OP with Goldbeard and Abyssal HBG

This game was strictly made for solo, how can you ask such a question.

G rank quests took me at less than 20 mins for me; you're probably not strategically hunting.

Pellet shots are good for Zinogre and Alatreon, however, Diablos is no longer a pellet magnet

Sheathing is a very useful skill actually, especially when I'm playing a support hunting horn build, i have it in. deffo.

G - Rank isn't just, more HP and Atk, they have some new moves, obviously theres a few monsters that're G rank only, and alot are faster then HR counter parts and have better AI in order to piss you off.

Sheathing a HH? You should always run with your weapon on, why u need sheathing skill lol just play standard melody for running speed up and never put your weapon off.

Sheath works well with GS with addition of Crit draw or punish draw. Also DS, LS. Other than that it's no use imho.

This game wasn't made for solo lol. It was made for japanese market which rules differently than other regions. Local there is as popular as online in europe or USA. While some quests are easy, some like Alatreon or Miralis, A. Lagi, Silver los & Gold ian are hard when soloing. This game IS soloable but not MADE strictly for solo lol Some quests were made to be done in groups. Not to mendion jump events.

I can easily solo G rank Agnaktor in less than 10 minutes, but also can't beat Miralis in less than 40 minutes... not to mention Hollowed or G rank Alatreon.

Yes, if you're a full support HH user, you'll have wide range +2 and eating +2 and horn maestro. meaning you need to put the weapon away to spam pots or antidotes, use adamant seeds etc, it's useful, I gem it in because with those 3 skills already, and the ability to have another, that just seemed perfect. do you not understand FULL support mode? I have don aby lagia with it, and i think i hit him like 5 times? as I was constantly healing and horning.

This game wasn't intended for either solo OR multi, it was made for both, therfore had to support the weaker ( solo players ) by making the game do-able with just one hunter, learn to use your companions as they are pretty nifty with some of them masks of theres and anything is possible. in under 30 minutes.

I understand "FULL support mode", but there are better skills to support the actions you stated above. Item Use Up for instance. Sheathing doesn't support anything at all, only makes your life easier to a certain degree. Speed up sheating by what... 0,05 second? It's completely useless skill unless you're using GS, DS or LS with proper skills. But even with them compared to the alternatives it always seems like a waste of slot. It's good skill for begginers to help them handle weapons easily. And that's all.

Also it seems weird that you solo aby lagi with only 5 hits. You sure you were playing alone then? If not, why do u need sheathing? Focus on supporting other hunters with Item Use Up, not on cutting your animations, for god's sake.

I never meant I did it solo, sorry for the implication, With 3 others, i just healed and supported.

Item use up yes, I see it's value, but with the HH fast sheath makes a huge difference, no the 0.05 you inaccurately quoted.
It allows me to go into battle make a few hits here and there, and if anyone needs it, i can swishly put away, and heal. it allows me in and out of battle more and allowing the other 3 hunters the safety of knowing they can just keep at a monster therfore reducing the time they spend healing, furthermore increasing 3 other players DPS, as opposed to item use up which will not have the same affect on DPS for 3 people, as I can just eat another seed, sure, more often, but as I said, the other 3 peeps, still pounding away. with the same armor and attack boost, with or without item use up

It can also makes resistances last longer if you use proper seeds.

I guess everyone plays differently, i got nothing against that skill if it's originally on the deafult set account but if it's not i'd go for Item Use Up. Sheathing has not as slow animation as Lv3 charge from GS. That thing need focus to make it usable as it shortens the time of an attack. It really helps. Sheathing on the other hand is way faster and imho doesn't need parallel skill. But as i said that's just me and everyone else can have their own way.

No seeds boost resistance in 3U.

And As before, i'd just eat the seed again to keep levels up, the item use up just allows you not to eat them as often, quantity isn't the issue, its the time consuming to eat i spose.

I guess we're both right because the extra time i gain from Item Use Up (and in process don't have to hide my weapon so often) is equal to your extra time gained from sheathing your HH faster (it's balanced by necessity of using more seeds i guess your 3 equals mine 2). It's mabye because i'm lazy and like to run with my HH all the time Yes by vort Everyone likes to play differently.
