Before i start gettin trolls, alot me the room to say, yes i know weapon preference doesnt really matter if you have skill, yes i know that as long as your having fun doing it it doesnt matter. What i'm asking is if poison is viable for a damage dealer, no i dont expect to kill things faster than with, per se, ala's ls. I'm more curious in the technical aspect of poison (damage per tick) or however one might say it. Also if poison has any other viable aspects, such as the rumor that if a monster is poisoned rage mode lasts less time/cant get enraged ect. ect.

Usually I poison Brachydios first with my bow in groups and usually the brachydios rages right after I poison him too so that rumour is a bust (idk about duration and this is the first time I've heard about this rumour...)

I don't think there's any strategic value from the poison status aside from the alternate damage source.

Poison has since been buffed from tri. Their weapons have received both a raw and sharpness and status bonus as opposed to tri. Also since the poison status itself got buffed significantly it's actually really good on monsters weak to it (ujra,s jhos, black blos, etc)

yeah, one of the first SnS I made was the poison one (well, one of), I tend to like it when I'm lazy and couldn't be bothered changing weapons from one monster to the next.

For most monsters it's ok, for a couple (ura and plesioth) it's excellent.

Ive done some fairly extensive testing with the carmilla bloodsucker (nox ls) on all the monsters you mentioned, and some you didnt. Overall it seems to work well, but it really gets a +1 from me for being very effective in multi monster quests. I did multiple quests with multi-monsters and even completed mark of a hero with it in 28 mins. Being able to poison one monster, switch focs to another while the other is still taking damage, seems to be a very viable tactic.

This exactly,

Multiple monsters = poison is a god send.

You're doing it wrong. You seem unaware of the significant buff poison has received. I'm going to disregard actual damage poison does since I cba to find them. You mentioned something about poisoning a monster and then aiming for the other one while it is poisoned. You chose the worst quest to use that example.

Unlike in past games where you have to inflict x amount of poison and wait for it to wear off before poisoning again (at a higher tolerance mind you) poison received a buff in the fact that you can still apply it while a monster is poisoned. Quick example with made up numbers.

You inflict 400 poison on g jaggi.
It recovers at a rate of 10 poison per sec.
In order for poison to wear off a g jaggi has to recover from the poison which is around 40 seconds. However due to a change in poison you can still apply poison status on a already poisoned monster thus keeping it poisoned indefinitely. So as long as you inflict 10+ poison per sec then g jaggi will never recover from poison. What does this mean? This means that poison tolerance will not increase since a monster never rid itself from poison.

Now with your example of using mark of the hero. Wrong quest to try and make a point. Your poison isn't doing shit as opposed to enraged brachydios constantly triggering slime on Los. After which brachy becomes an easy target. If you really insist on using a weap for mark of a hero use slime since it works on everything as opposed to poison which some monsters take next to nothing from.

Before I begin alot me the room to say....
1. Nice troll
2. I hate when people try to tell others what equipment to use when they were not asking for advice/help.

Now to the reply.
1. How does one "Do it wrong"? I may not be using the weapon as you do, but that does not make your way "correct".
2. I poisoned one monster, and then aimed for the other to inflict damage to both at the same time thus completing the quest faster, versus trying to smash one constantly (mind you I was indeed unaware of the buff poison had recieved)
3. There really wasn't much of a point, except to say that, yes, after I had done every HR village quest minus 2, with the carmilla bloodsucker, that poison indeed viable as a decent damage dealer.
4. I completely agree that enraged brachy did indeed do a lot of damage to los, even killed him as a matter of fact. Never did I say poison was the best damage dealer, more of the question if it is viable as a decent source of damage. Could i have used a slime weapon? Sure could have, would it have worked? Most likely. From personal experience, slime explosions do next to nothing to brachy, I've used demolition lance on him, took roughly 20 mins. Using the ceadeus lance (the name escapes me atm), almost 15 minutes. I believe the exact time was 14:52-56 somewhere in there. I've tested this extensively, because I'm the kind of person who would rather test something myself, and give facts that I've found through testing, to people, versus opinions.

/e: Testing this poison buff tonight and tomorrow. I'm going to try to keep Uragaan "poisonlocked". I've got 3 other local hunters on board, poison weapons in tow. I shall post my findings Saturday night/sunday. Wish us luck :p
