| http://www.polygon.com/2013/9/5/4696570/japan-review-check-monster-hunter-4Well here we are again, more reviews and more MH not yet out in the west. Overall the reviews are fairly positive with the main complaint being, "A sense of done-it-all-before". Which several Japanese comunities seem to be complaining about against the reviewers... You hunt monsters... of course we've done it before. | |

| To be fair MH4 probably does have a sense of "done it all before" thanks to the fact that they seem to be bringing back more old monsters instead of adding new ones. | |

| I don't dissagre.. but on the same note people kept asking for them to be brought back and not just add new monsters, which is what capcom did.. And if it's anything like MH3U vs Tri... New move sets, new AI and with new mechanics and gear and random quests...? hmmm, I think I would like more information on why they feel that way but.. I don't think we'll get one. | |

| Well I think new changes are good. But I hope they add more new monsters in their future games as well bringing back old ones. New monsters = new armors and weapons | |

| I've seen fewer new monsters than there were in tri, in fact the wiki has only 10 new monsters listed so far. I'm not sure how up to date that list is but I hope that there are more that the wiki hasn't put on that list or that they haven't revealed yet. | |

| They haven't shown any varients of the new monsters.. only them alone. so compared to that.. (and since only large monsters have been shown for the most part) how many new monsters were in Tri compared to the ones shown in MH4 so far?

| Most of the new monsters for tri were not revieled until it was actually released in japan.. also Jinathin, don't for get everything else that was added as well.
also, Tri large monsters: 15
Great Jaggi, Qurupeco, Royal Ludroth, Barroth, Gobul, Great Baggi, Lagiacrus, Gigginox, Barioth, Uragaan, Agnaktor, Ceadeus, Jhen Mohran, Deviljho, Alatreon
MH4 Large monsters so far: 8
Kechawacha, Goa Magara, Nerusukyura, Tetsukabura, Garara Ajara, Aruserutasu, Zaboazagiru, Generu Serutasu
so far just 7 less large monsters.. which isn't a lot overall.

| And technically you can add two more to MH4 since we've seen that big snake worm thing they showed at the end of that one trailer and the new jhen clone, but I think it's debatable as to whether or not HP tanks count as "new" monsters. | |

| No, dcj, I think that if there were no other new monsters added besides the ones shown so far, this is going to feel more like a sequel to MHFU than a new generation. That doesn't mean this game doesn't have the potential to be the best MH yet, it just means long-time veterans will get bored faster.
I don't consider myself a long-time veteran, since I started with Tri, so either way I (and most American players) will feel the game is fresh. Watching videos of the PS2 era games, though, I get the sense that, "wow, fights were boring as all get out back then." I can see how Tigrex and Nargacuga were such a breath of fresh air back then! Even though a lot of the gen 3 monsters were re-imagined versions of gen 1& 2 monsters, they were just better in so many ways that they didn't feel like "redos," I don't think: Barioth fights totally different from Nargacuga (I'm not saying Barioth is better, though, just different); Gigginox is almost nothing like Khezu; even Great Jaggi moves and fights like a real boss, as opposed to the Velocidromes... who mostly just hop around and barely attack you.
Anyway, I kinda hope there's another new monster or two. They already showed us, like, 80-90% of the new armor designs that correlate to the monsters they've shown. Seems like some of the old monsters have reworked armor (Rathian), but that might simply be the rusted/ancient armor they've detailed. I shudder to think we'll be making the SAME OLD Rathian armor yet again...
