| As I indicated before, I decided to do all village content without touching port... once I got to alatreon, I also kept killing it to get some gear made. Then, well... time to go to port I guess.. but I was surprised by the responses I got.
First: Remember, I can't join anything higher than HR2... which includes the quest to become HR3.
Random room with a HR1: Room title: Hlp Pls:-) . Upon joining, the room host promptly asked what armor I needed help with. (He wasn't at the tavern), so I just said: "Don't know." I didn't want to boast, and I didn't want to do the online content solo... Once he came in, he asked "How did you get all that?" and all I said was "Lots of hard work". One hunt in, with an overly easy rathian, he disconnects... o well.
Another hunt: distrustful player says: "Do you have high level friends that helped you get that?" Response: "HR1 ... so, no." I got kicked.
Fourth room: I greet the room, the host walks up to me... Kicks me (I did a check for rooms, and his was still there).
Fifth - Room had 1 HR2 and 2 G-ranked players. I was promptly sent guild cards, and I did the same. G-Ranked players were quiet, while the HR2 player was oogling wildly at the gear of the G-ranked players and making many comments on how cool these were. Very enjoyable group, and had to leave when we got to the HR3 Rank up quests (Still HR1). I can only imagine that the G-ranked players that sent me guild cards when I entered the room wanted to see if I got the gear legitimately, or through other means, since I sincerely doubt it would be of any advantage to them having my lowly toon in their port.
Final group for the night: a couple high-ranked (not G) player helping out a HR2 friend to rank up) - They were impressed at the gear I had, and all I said was that I just wanted to help out. The hunts, were quick and in succession, and had to take my leave the moment he got to the quest to Rank up to 3, since I couldn't join on the Rathalos+Rathian Quests.
Such a wide gamete of reactions, but I was particularly surprised at how hostile some people got at the gear. (Obviously it wasn't that I was too high an HR). Anyone else feel "gear hate" from other players that you just want to help while playing online?

| I did the same thing on my first character. Do all of village before port thing. I've been called a hacker and have been kicked from a fair number of cities when I started port. I don't understand why people think village doesn't exist. | |

| My policy is if you have a full set, or a decent set of skills (not just autoguard with HR and LR pieces mismatched, you can stay or I'm willing to help you move up.
I usually blow through HR1-3 (and HR4-5) by myself, I spend so much time training Chacha and Kayamba I never need other players till 7*
I've seen a few sides of this though, Ppl who beat the village solo all the way up, Ppl who play em both evenly (tried it, its alright, plus easy access to volcano) and Ppl who play multiplayer exclusively, of whom I find very annoying, because either they have to buy all their resources, don't have any of the farm upgrades/ dont know what the farm is and are broke ALL the time, or have armor they shouldn't because the got boosted and brought on quests they haven't unlocked themselves (Hallowed Jhen and Abyssal Lagi)
I really appreciate new players that have taken in most of the village or are willing to learn from veterans. I love going into help rooms with sets or weapons I'm not used to, and teach a few players some things at the same time

| While getting kicked for having decent armor at hr1 is completely ridiculous, I totally believe it happened. You would think that seeing someone with a full armor set would be a welcome change from the riff-raff you find online with no active armor skills. I did the village and up to hr7 by myself so I didn't have any adverse reactions when I went online. I do get kicked fairly often though. I think it's because I use the bow and bowgun often and people are distrustful. | |

| I'll admit, gunners kind of have to earn trust, just because no matter how skilled you are, the lack of defense can get you killed easily.
Although its BS to just kick one, because despite to high risk factor, a proper gunner can destroy a monster virtually on their own, and with Status, Element, and High Damage they are the MOST versatile hunters to have on a team

| I can agree that gunners should earn their keep, but they need the opportunity as well. It's a shame that people get kicked based on armor instead of skill. | |

Yeah. I've never kicked someone just because they are using a certain weapon type. The only time I've kicked people is when they can't read the city description and don't leave the city when asked.

| Those who booted you for "being carried" are completely ignorant and should research their game. If you had Alatreon Armor or HR armor below HR2/HR3, there's no way you were carried in any way/shape/form. They're fools. | |

| People tend to associate someone else's successes to external factors (outside events) and failures to internal (feelings, innate skill, etc) factors a lot to make them feel more special. If you beat them in an online game, they'll be like "he's probably hacking" or if you lost to them they'll be like "man he's stupid."
In other words, these are the typical scrubs.

| I remember doing something similar in Tri - started the Online quests with full Los, Ian and Lagi armors, and fully upgraded weapons of each element. Unfortunately, I found it got rather borning this way, since I didn't really have a goal for the first 30 HR's. Also, how the heck did you farm the village Alatreon in high rank gear? That's seriously impressive. | |

| Yeah, that's quite common. In tri when I first went online I had full offline set of ceadeus... And for a while no one I played with even knew how to carve. Most complained that I shouldn't have any armor yet...
It happens, so I wouldn't even worry. if they ask say they should play offline village more.
Whats really fun is to have a mix set of high rank offline armors with a good highrank talisman and set of skills. That confuses them even more because they have no clue how you got that at all. ;)
