This will seem petty to some but the reason I now reject MH World is that it lost one of the core fundamentals of MH that even Frontier did right. You know what it is?

MH World shows damage numbers which for me utterly ruins the immersion.

I will not be buying or playing it unless that changes (and no i dont want a toggle option either as i dont want morons online talking about their damage numbers).

Agree or don't, I don't care, just my view.

I can't remember which on but MHO or one of the other games showed damage number.

Regardless to some extent I sympathies with you. MHworld is very "westernized" and reminds me quite a bit of Dragon Dogma. Limitedly though.

I will really wait to past judgment once more details of MHW releases.

I played MHO, and the damage numbers are only shown to yourself (that I remember), as an indicator of how successful your attack was.

Right now, you have to guess as to how hard you are hitting the monsters. Regular Rath, weakest spot was it's head, but a Silver Los, Head was very hard, and most people would still focus on it, even though the back was weakest.

What this means, is that people in general will become more effective hunters, because they can see where their attacks are most effective.

I do agree that if others see what damage you are doing though, it will bring in an attitude of "git gud", and some just do not understand that certain classes are not there for damage, but for overall support. I would never tell a HH user to go try for damage. It's great if he can do it, but that is not his calling. Same for an insect glaive user. They are there to provide inmobility of the monster so that the rest of the people can do uninterrupted damage.

I am with MHWF on this one. I am willing to actually wait and see how it is turning out before passing judgement. Specially since I have already been exposed to "numbers on screen" and the world didn't end.

I meant that I despise the idea of seeing numbers at all, you know when you're hitting the monster correctly by sounds, visual cues, and just knowing how to hunt, having any sort of damage indicator even to yourself is just sad, we don't need that over casualization. Monster Hunter has always been a "git gud" franchise, you're either able to hunt or you aren't.

Funnily enough, the weapon showcases didn't have damage indicators, so I think it might have been simply a dev thing.

I pray you are right. Right now im getting back into MH again after a break thanks to watching a bunch of Frontier Z vids of the super version of Duremudira and White Fatalis G form... they are all so gloriously powerful and I can never fight them... but I need to fight something!

Been said on multiple occasions that it's indeed a feature that can be toggled on/off ;)

Yeah I would've assumed it was an on/off feature. And if that is the case then I'm glad it's something players will have access too. There really wasn't much of a way to tell otherwise where a monster was weakest on your own. Sure it seems obvious to us seasoned hunters now what spots to go for, but I know when I was plugging away at the beginning I had no idea Rathian was weakest on her head. I never attacked her there until I was told, instead opting for the safer legs and tail.
And again, being on and off means you don't need it on, you can keep your "immersion". I dunno, I find the idea of immersion in Monster Hunter kind of silly given just the number of dialogs open on your screen for sharpness, your own health, stamina, your item wheel, your minimap, etc.

Being totally honest i thought I would hate the number for being included, but i actually like them since shows when i am hitting a right spot and they are small enough if you are not actively paying attention you won't notice. On top of a lot of effects have been toned down to the point it's hard to know ehen you poisoned something or not unless you really pay attention.

I thought I would hate the numbers too, but I actually like them. In melee range I can hardly see them, and when using a ranged weapon it really helps to know what spots to hit. From what I've seen, they toned down a lot of the other special effects with bow that told you when you were at a good distance or hitting the right spot (flashes and screen shake, which weren't exactly immersive in the first place).
The best part is that only you can see them, so no one can start being elitist about dps or whatever. It feels good to see big numbers, but some weapons just end up with lots of little numbers lol. I thought it would be distracting at first, but it hasn't really affected my playstyle differently from other feedback methods mentioned before.

I thought I would dislike the numbers but turns out I don't. They're quite usefull for locating weakspot yet small enough to not steal focus from the main gameplay.
Oh and overall the effects have been reduced as well it seems!

Yeah, another thing I've seen people talking about is that there isn't any blood effects when you strike a monster. There's like dirt and stuff that goes flying, but no blood like before. This was what used to tell you if you were striking a weak part, so that's more reason to use the numbers now.

Blood still shows up on broken/damaged parts of a monster!

Blood was toggled off for the Beta. Release will have all its goriness back.
