Hello MHFU!!

After some time got back my broken psp and started to play MHFU, well played before for 2 days until it broke, so i knew the basics. I thought we live in new world and there are all kinds of tutorials, so i searched one fore mhfu, and found wikia . Well i am going to ask some questions from time to time to get better, hope you will answer them all and explain everything. So right now it shows 39:12... Dont know if its a lot :D, i am using GS. Well its funny when i played before i used lance, because i could shield and move at the same time, played deffencive... and now at beginning i ran with sword and mainly used draw attacks and thought hmm... need bigger dmg, how about GS? Well at first i used draw attacks with gs too. Later started to get better. Now i beat kut-ku so easily its funny. OK enough about shitty talk lets get to the queastions.

1. I watched some videos how you kill tigrex with GS charge - awesome, but doesnt work for me, i just dont get its movements, how many of them u kill until u pwn them??
2. OTHER would be about evade, for exaple pleshiot man he is ultimate that side attack and tail whimp, one of them owns me, i had to try like 3 times unitl i killed one... i mean on videos some ppl just jump into them and they are safe, when i do that i was like YES, and then neck appears and SLAM dead, in other situations tail whips me, and how u know when he shots water spray, when he does that it is to late for gs timing... or if i run into him guesing what is he going to do... SLAM side attack lol.... or i just need to play more AND YEH i use khezu shock plade ... for now. Compared to yan-kut-ku pleshiot is sooo hard. What special timings for evade? or evade to right direction.. tell me.
3.what quest do i need to do, well i am doing chiefs right now, almost killing tigrex and i am hr1... where are better items and all...
4. what is affinity? i mean what it does? when it is low? low dmg or smth? Cause i have executioner and waiting to upgr into sword of diablos and its affinity drops, i am worried, should i change my swords, well i run whit khezu blade for sharpness. THat reminds me when do i get diablos items to make diablos gs?
5. What armor should i make? I have battle set and its getting old, should i make two sets, for example anti fire and anti water...
Any tips?
Or mb gs guides? I know naijiao on youtube, he is awesome ;D

4.(awnser) affinity is GOOD it is your FRIEND.. if you have positive affinity.. you have a higher chance of hitting a critical hit.. (max hit) ((bringt red slash hit)) if you have negitive affinity you have a low chance of hitting a critical.. and a HIGH chance to kit lowest hit! (bad) ((blue hit slash)

lemme try..

1)you don't always have to aim at the head since you're using GS BUT tigrex will drastically shift from normal mode to rage mode if done correctly and that's your cue to STUDY it's movements. yes, it's only in rage mode where you get to see it's full potential and there's the timing...

in training school, you can practice that move until it becomes so familiar that you can GS the head every time it turns to face you. in rage mode, you might need to wait until it does a double leap and then growls after doing some charge attacks. that's your cue to GS charge the head. when tigrex is in rage mode, you can do more damage since it drops 30% in defense but it does more damage. so you can take your time and study attack patterns. pretty simple really.. yeah, bring lots of flashbangs..

2)plesy just reminded me of my early days playing the game and i just know how it feels to get smacked all over the place.. the only thing you might need to do in order to evade is.. dont get too greedy on doing damage. just place a couple of hits under the belly or feet or GS charge the belly and then roll and try to flank it again. sure it does have a large range attack for the hip check but you're using GS right? why not just guard the attack?? if you really want to roll your way out, then do it twice.. of course, do it in the opposite direction provided that you have already anticipated the move. it pays to study the attack patterns..

3)your third question's a no brainer so you can figure it out for yourself.. just keep on clearing those quests. i dont like to spoil the fun that's in store for you.

4)i agree with xakis, affinity is seen on your equipment window so you can scroll it to the left or right. normally you will see a 0% affinity since you're just starting the game but you will unlock more weapons at later quests. don't be blinded by affinity just yet. remember that some good will always come along with the bad. scoring a critical hit is a good thing but scoring a hit can be that tedious when the monster's just as tough. i normally go for the weapons with the highest attack power base so you can be sure that each hit is a powerful one and not relying too much on crits as they can induce greed and you know.. death!

however, if you should have an unsheathe attack skill from an armor available to you, then it's a great skill to pair it up with your GS.. well GS basically focus on draw attacks so learn that one from the instructor!

khezu shock sword is a good starting weapon but i suggest that you shift to a new one instead. try the GS agito and then upgrade it into diablos blade. yep, it's something worth your while and can be turned into one of the most powerful GS weapons in the game. and yes, clear quests and you'll eventually encounter diablos.

5)since tigrex is one of your earliest nemesis then why not go create that tigrex armor? i started out using that one and it took me to HR6 and a longsword called devil slicer. it branches out from the iron katana so try looking into that one.

I made yan kut ku D armor cause it gives affinity, also small attack and thats ok for me. Well i noticed that guild quest are MUCH MUCH MUCH harder than village chiefs quests, i mean blangoga killed me 2 times, while during chiefs q, i beat him easily... also pleshiot... stupid... i hate him, tigrex was easier
Oh yeh i am still on khezu shock blade and i cant make any new better cause i cant get the material or it is too rare, i want new weapon because when i hit tigrex head on guild q it doesnt react to it ... low dmg?
well upgrade Khezu Shock Blade? Dont get any meaterial... that khezu tan and other shit...
Sword of the Diablos ? whats TwstBlkBlosHrn? and i killed diablos 3 times cutting his tail, and carving it and didnt get his tail, also whos blos? i need black blos tail too...

Also i think it was hmm dont remember it is all rocky and hides in the ground pretends to be a mountain :D, well most in lava zones, I HATE HIM all my attacks bounce off, whew while i killed him, but still pleshi is harder... monolbos and diablos (also most attacks bounce off) are the same-easy, just go for stomach , hermitaurs too, somehow i evade all their attacks well if i get unlucky-slam, sometimes i sacrifice my hp to hit others, is that ok? oh and kut ku, rathalos are practically the same too, well never fought rathian :/

Fish the Plessy out with Frogs, you can sometimes buy them from the Peddler granny ;)

okay, let's start off with what i can comprehend from your short story..

i suggest that before you decide to encounter a boss on the game such as blangonga, try the training school first. IT PAYS TO STUDY THE ATTACK PATTERNS. you'll naturally die from co-accidents as far as we all know. i died too ya know? too many times before i learned the easy way.. for blangonga, dont try to run as much but simply flank it and when it turns to you, hit the damn whisker off! :twisted:

when it howls in rage mode and your within range with no earplugs then it's okay, take a hit but you'll most likely to dodge the next attack. when it burrows, just try strafing from left or right then when it shows up, aim for the head. when it spits ice then just wait and hit the head again, when it does a body slam attack, just roll to any side or sometimes if you're too close, just duck! yeah it works. and if it jumps towards you, be sure that it will just go back and jump again from it last position. that's where you wait til it lands and hit the head but dont get in range of the donkey kick. it hurts..

actually, the guild quests and chief quests are pretty much the same (for me) some monsters can be endowed with much power from the first encounter but it's the same monster so apply the same tactic. but there are other colored monsters with the same species so it may have different attack patterns so study it. the sword of diablos is one of the most powerful GS in the game if upgraded to its final form. dont underestimate it. twisted black blos horns can be farmed from G rank black diablos so wait until you can unlock the quest but you need to pair it with skills like unsheathe attack and sharpness +1 to unleash it's full potential. you can try watching youtube and type in GS guides.. that GS pawns..

the one that looks like a mountain is basarios. it likes to pretend its a hump of rock.. try using bow with a piercing arrow charge and see what it does.

well, another way of attacking is without thinking but be sure that you gamble your attack with a sure hit and pray that it staggers the beast. :lol!:

and lastly, if you want to fish out plesy, bring a frog and make sure that plesy is on the same area with you. approach the water and search along the water while running until the frog is highlighted and can be used. plesy will rise up and get near enough to paintball.. the battle begins! :cheers:

Hi again, i am back after some vocation , well first i am surprised. Tigrex is hell of a creature, when i said i beat him hpf that was nothing compared to tigrex on guild, first thing i wanted to do is to raise my rank so i went against tigrex in guild and tried to kill him for two whole days... Well i cant say i am a noob when i can gs charge his head anytime he does something, until it gets to rage mode... the fun starts, i mean it is too fast for me, yeh so when he enters rage mode i just run and cream like little girl. Some of you say two hops? I know that after two hops enraged he does that hit me thing, but it is tricky, well ok he does 2 hops and i start charge, he turns BAM to head, i roll to right side and try to put my gun away but its too late... he already recovered from head slam and he runs and i go rolling, when i try to get up he is already near me and i go rolling again (in a bad way) until i see starts and he finishes me :D so i just run the WHOLE thing until he is enraged... Yeh i know i beat him after two days... but i dont fell like i did it... i watched some videos and those pros are not afraid of tigrex they some how jump between his leg and arm and manage to get out, also u say insta block? yeh... about that when i block i dot have time to recover from hit and tigrex comes at me again. So i wanted to say TIGREX IS really fast man. Well the point is i wanted to ask how they mange to get away from tigrex in rage mode, i mean it so fast that i get double hit, you know when i got send flying until that bastard gets up tigrex is alrady running into me again, and blocking i block and after i recover from that hit, again tigrex is coming and i block again but too low stamina and dead.

lesson 2 that 45 angle slash, i just dont get it mb i dont undersyand something? When tigrex turn i should draw slash near leg?
And look at 6:39 he jumps between his leg and arm, and manage to survive also tigrex is raged and again 6:43

i know you don't need the info anymore, but for others reading on here affinity shouldnt decide wether or not you get a weapon.
that diablo gs, it has negative affinity but becomes a very strong gs later ingame, hell all ukanlos weapons have -30 or -40% but im not gonna stop using them. affinity is more important with weaoons that are going to have a high rate of hits, and even then its iffy. don't ignore a weapon because it has some negative affinity

thanks for the gs tutorial xakis. on the video (for 45 angle slash) he's actually telling you to position yourself on the left leg and do a draw slice which in turn would basically hit the head if the timing is right. as stated on the video, its under advanced tutorial. i would not recommend that you go ahead and do it but rather it's a high risk move and you're just what? HR3 right now? your current armor can't take on a tigrex on rage mode yet as you would die within 2- 3 hits..

as you can see (4:23) on the video, he did roll twice just to evade tigrex after a gs charge but on an angle that would enable you to evade and not go into tigrex's attack radius (well he did at the latter part which really baffles me but just to be safe, don't do it yet). he also mentioned that the move takes a lot of practice to master. as you can see, he's wearing a full rajang armor with unsheathe attack skill and quick charge so you may confuse yourself with the gs timing. i suggest you watch the moves under the diablos armor instead coz' that's under normal gs charges. i must say it's pretty amazing he's thought of a more easier and organized move instead of plainly guessing the distance or assuming too much of what tigrex is going to do next. there's a "logical" explanation somehow..

the real secret here is just reacting as fast as you can, it's like you see the first few frames of animation of the move that tigrex is going to do next and do something about it! (a good ex. is frame 4:50 and a mistake :lol: 5:26)

affinity interesting thing... i dont get it why tigrex weaps have like -30 affinity, i would disagree with you nasalsniper312, cause i have kut ku D armor with +10% affinity and it feels MUCH MUCH better when you see red spark, you feel that you did some dmg, while - affinity monster doesnt even react to your hit. I looked up rajang armor - i have to say OMG best ever focus sharp + gem affinity = kickass, lets not forget diablos sword, well i think thats my goal :D getting rajang set, final diablos sword and kicking ass.

Yeh i got one time 45 angle slash, i liked it cause you can hit head and get out safe, if timing is right, also about that jump into body and get out safe, is freaking awesome and i freaking cant do it.

I fought gravios, man what a big lump of rock, and he had to do side attack with tail whip like pleshi, man i hate them. And like tigrex after hitting its stomach i cant roll out safe, 90%of the time i hit his leg when rolling and i see my self flying :D man got to work on predicting monster moves, but yeh i beat him, broke his stomach 2 times, take that sucker.

Next was rathalos, passed some time until i got used to new monster, man his charge is unpredictable also i cant evade his claw attack, but i cutted his tail, broke his wings off, and slamed his head, fell unconsios 2 times in a row and beat him. Well got unlucky there, he grabbed me while flying with nails so i passed out from poision, next when entered he ran into me, HE FREAKING RAN INTO ME and i just entered after that K.O. with tail, that third time wanted to abandon q but i saw him dragging his one leg, so i went ant found him sleeping, yeh charge head and one more upward slash finished him, next is diablos (got mega lucky cat skill, hope i get some items for diablos sword :D ), and last is rajang.

Oh is Shen Gaoren THAT EASY? I mean i watched some vids, and he practically doesnt hit you, you just run around hiting his leg, and if u reach his head...? WHATS THE POINT?

Oh i made long sword out of some hornetours, nice attack and+ affinity.
Also watched some bow videos, man i think that using bow is SOOOO EASY, just run around holding charge and SHOT, i beat tigrex from second try on training school, well first try was fail, forgot to learn how to use bow :D

thanks man! well. im not really keeping the forum alive but it's quite interesting to know what hunting is like from other hunters. i've practically mastered the game but some of the weapons, not that much. im still a noob at using gunlance!!

if you read the thread on shen gaoren, yeah he's easy to pawn but when you know that you're not doing any damage, that's where the problem starts. you actually need to bring down that beast with enormous effort using any kind of weapon you can get whether its a ballista, dragonator or just plain old hack and slash.. the point is, you need to slay shen as the quest suggests: its a slaying quest.
the hornetaur sword u made is a pretty cool sword to start with. good affinity, good sharpness w/ 3 slots and good raw damage.

i've got no idea when will the next MH sequel will come out. actually, im dying to play that one and i can't wait! i really want try out the switch axe and use it against new monsters. i cant buy a wii just to play MH3 and then ditch the console. not really a fan of wii.. im more of a playstation fanatic. they say it'll come out late this year and that's it. it's kinda cruel but it's worth the wait.

i actually like using bow?they help me save those precious, precious honey and mega potions and not tire myself chasing monsters. i'd recommend using bows that has rapid charges and piercing charges. it's more of a concentrated fire unlike the scatter charge. rapids help you break something and pierce help you inflict damage against large monsters like gravios. pair it up with auto-tracker and runner, you're good to go. you can get those skills at the quest one-horned demon? it's a diablos with one horn and get the one-horned ticket to make the rare diablos armor with auto-tracker,runner and concentration. perfect for bow users. 8)

I felt it for the first time, that i know how to play fighting rathian, i mean it was so perfect, i evaded all tail whips and charges, didnt have to use any of my items, only suply items, AND I FUCKING LAUGHED when u know she runs to sleep and gs charge to head, but omg when i came there she was sleeping and there where 2 giadromes or giaprei? dont know... anyway i ran into them and i thought one of them is going to jump on me so i stopped and wanted to slay him, BUT HE TURNED AND RAN TO RATHIAN i thought OMG WTF AND HE F*** JUMPED ON HER AND WAKED HER UP, i mean i was standing in front of him and he ran away from me, at first i thought wtf, but then i laughed and thought "OH YOUR NEXT TO DIE DUDE", but still killed rathian in 2 hits.

VICTORY yay did i kill it? Well the earth was still shaking, so i gues no, didnt get that part, but who cares.

About diablos gs, i still dont have it... and i am confused, now that i am high rank (yay!!) i wount have any quest with diablos, so how should i make that sword? i can somehow get tail, (man 60% chance) tryed 3 times got 1 :D, but dont know where to get TwstBlkBlosHrn

LOL, it seems you're having quite the playthrough of the game. And you seem to be enjoying it alot. XD
I'm on the 9* Village Quests and am on the 8* Guild quests as of now.

Ok I'm Hr 999 in MH3 and HR 9 in MHFU, and my main is Great Sword so ill give you a few tips.

1. Art of Unsheathing/Critical draw: Great sword best friend, critical damage when you unsheath your weapon. Take oppurtunity of this by charging right out of the sheath to add massive damage.

2. Focus: Makes charges faster, can help you still get charge damage in less time and you have a less chance of getting hit.

3. Attack Large/Reckless abandon +3: Ok so these are really good skills, Both are about the same damage output in MHFU, but Attack Large is better in MH3. Attack Large adds raw power and Reckless Abandon adds affinity. Affinity = Critical hits. But you dont want to add high affinity with critical draw/art of unsheathing. Cause then you lose the affinity in the long run. So try to use attack large if you are using Art of unsheathing to get more damage and high affinity with focus to add damage.

Good sets:

Rathalos X and gem in Sharpness +1, Attack Large, Art of Unsheathing: My favorite and use a high raw great sword to add ALOT of damage. Like King Allitirat Sword or Ukanalos Destructer. This is the best damage output set in the game if used correctly.

G rank Rajang: Sharp +1, Art of unsheathing, Focus: Good if you dont like charging as long but still want damage. Attack Large still outputs more damage in the long run if used right.

Notes: There is 1 rule to great swords. CHARGE CHARGE CHARGE. The more you charge, the faster the monster dies. An easy way to get free charges is waiting for a monster to pass you and you follow and charge at their back. They will turn around and you can charge their face like tigrex, nargacuga, etc. Use these oppurtunties to your advantage.
