Need help with equipment + weapon

Hey there, I'm quite a newbie with Monster Hunter, I'm now doing 4* Elder Quests.

My equipment right now:
Full Genprey Set
Some loose stuff, including Conga Greaves a.o.

Weapons:
Kut-Ku Jaw (Hammer, just started with hammers, Me likes!) --> Trying to get Raven Torrent, farming Garuga for damned ear!
Bone Katana "Wolf" (Long sword)
Iron Katana Grace/Gospel it was, dunno (Long Sword)
Hunter's Bow I
Sonic Bow I
SnS, with Flame Attribute, not really good one

And some swords ready for upgrades, but not having the sufficient material.

So, do you have any good tips?
I'm thinking about getting full Garuga equip.. Dunno what skills it has nor how to get them.
With the 4* Elder quests, stuck at Basarios, Monoblos, Shogun Ceanataur etc. Not really good at MHFU :P

So.. if you can, please help me!! :D

Maybe Kut-Ku first, then switch to Basarios.

USE A HAMMER ON BASARIOS, I can guarantee that this is the easiest method for taking him down.

Try to get the Crystal Nova for taking him on.

Upgrade your SnS into Corona (as this is the weapon path for the BEST Fire SnS in the game).
Upgrade your Sonic Bow I.

Also, try to use a Long Sword on Garuga, I found this fairly simple.

Now, Garuga is weak to Thunder, I think, so upgrade your Iron Katana Grace into Eager Cleaver.

Sure, you need a Rathalos Plate to get the Corona but it IS worth it if you can upgrade it into the Golden Falchion (which requires Rathian Ruby...).

And yes, Crystal Nova IS a hammer.

Anyways, what I said was that the Kut-Ku armour will eventually become better when you start upgrading it with Armour Spheres. It also gives Health +10 skill and Attack Up (Small).

It will be helpful for fighting Basarios, take my word.

First, haha, lucky you. You get to try out multiplayer. I'll probably get to that soon if my friend's brother has figured out how to play the game by now (I got it as a birthday present for him), so I'll be testing multiplayer out with him.

Also, Crystal Nova because I found it sort of easy to get and as far as I'm concerned, Water Hammers won't appear for a while. And I tried Basarios with Crystal Nova in Monster Hunter Freedom and it took me just about over 15 minutes to kill him. With the KO damage in MHFU, it should be quicker.

Also, the only Water element hammer I've seen so far is the upgrade of the high rank Shogun Ceanataur hammer, which is made out of G. Rank Plum Daimyo Hermitaur materials, which even I haven't got yet.

I'm now at 6* Village Elder quests, yesterday I did the 5* urgent, A Troublesome Pair (Kill 'los and 'ian) which was unbelievably easy...

All my armor sets:

Blademaster:
Full Vespoid
Full Genprey
Full Kut-Ku
Full Blango
Full Ceanataur
Tigrex Helm & Mail, need bloody Fangs for the other parts
Gunner:
Full Hermitaur

All my weapons:

Khezu Shock Sword (GS, only used for Tigrex) 624 raw, 220 thunder
Eager Cleaver (LS) 624 raw, 250 thunder
Wyvern Blade "Leaf" (LS) 528 raw, 250 poison
Dragonwood LongSword (LS) 576 raw, 190 paralyse
Tigrex Tooth (LS) 816 raw
Gunhammer Prototype (Hammer) 572 raw, 300 fire
Raven Torrent (Hammer) 728 raw
Velocidrome Bite+ (SnS) 252 raw
Red Saber (SnS) 154 raw, 150 fire
Upper Battleaxe (SnS) 224 raw, 300 poison
Sonic Bow 1 (Bow) 144 raw, 100 thunder
Wild Bow 4 (Bow) 228 raw


I use blades much more than bows, and think Tigrex is a decent armor set for now, but do you guys have any suggestions for armors and weapons?

Caenataur (5x artisan jewels) it's skills are
Sharp+1- biggest damage multiplier increase for blademaster
Razor Sharp- helps you keep your extra damage from sharp+1
Sharpness Inc- lets you sharpen 4x faster in the rare occasion you drop a sharpness level
Def-20-self explanatory not a problem if you lrn2play

or
Garuga Mask and the rest full garuga
High Grade Earplugs- Moar hits = moar damage and it saves you the rec tme from roars
razor sharp- read caenataur one
Reckless Abandon+1-gives you a 10% chance of making your attack do 25% more damage

both of these sets can easily last you through high ranked since tigrex is just a weakened garuga armor. As for weapons i suggest upgrading teh tiggy weapons to narga weapons when it becomes available. Also if you have pro skillz or limitless drive clear all of village elder quests and farm the quest called final invitation for rajang armor.

Can i make this one already? if i look in the armor crafters shop i wont get HG earplugs just normal... maybe you mean high rank?

get red drqagonsowrd, crimson rim( idk, the name I remember from this line was vermillion rim but I think thats 2nd or something), dual dragons(highest you can though), lao claw hammer( I have calw of doom, final upgrade of this line I dont remember the beggining name) basically all of the dragon blade weapons, they are amazingly helpful throughout the game on many occasions, just keep upgrading them to the highest possible level, of course if you dont use the calss at all you dont need to neccasarily make that one. DONT MAKE THE LAO SNS, seriously dont. the duals are better in every case until you can get hte very final upgrade of the sns, and even then it barely matches. also save lao gems, dont make earth dragon bow. both glorius victory and akantor bow are better. keep upgrading the gunhammer, it becomes an amazing weapon in G rank, and is really easy to make, I mean really easy. these are the tpop things that come to mind for me.
Edit: also, make chammy LS because it turns invisable which is totally B.A.
