First topic message reminder :

Sir,

Let me begin by explaining that I am a supporter of Nintendo and really enjoy my 3DS. I am also a big fan of the Monster Hunter series as I am the Lead Admin of the Monster Hunter Forums for the MHWikia. As soon as Monster Hunter 3G was announced for the 3DS I became very excited and glad at the oppertunity this gave many of Nintendo's fans. After the great sucess I felt there was in Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii I felt that Monster Hunter 3G for the 3DS would be a wonderful game and a great gift to all Monster Hunter and Nintendo fans. However, I have recently become very dissapointed in several coments I have read of yours. Mainly refering to and article posted here: http://www.n-europe.com/news.php?nid=16527

There are several things I am confused and saddened by. It is stated that you (Mr. Iwata) said that games like Monster Hunter 3G are designed to keep interest in games up for Japanese gamers in Highschool and College who lose interset in games, what about those of us who have been out of Highschool and College for many years and are not Japanese? Your research that is sited referes to the Nintendo Wii. Which is confusing as the Wii is not a handheld system and you and Nintendo has said many many times that the 3DS is a completely new system. So in what way does the "Wii" have any baring on the "3DS" and the decision to refuse the release of Monster Hunter 3G to the West for the Holiday season?

Also, Sir, you compare Mario and Monster Hunter. I do not understand how those games can be compared in any way. I enjoy and play both games all the time and get a different experiance from both but in no way see how one influences the decision to release or not release the other.

On the same note however it does not saticefy me that we get one and not the other. In fact it offends me. Though I do not believe it was your intention it seems to be insulting to just about the entire western gaming community that:

"...Please understand, however, that if anyone has the notion that the absence of Monster Hunter will create a less enthusiastic market condition in the overseas markets than in Japan, it is different from my belief."

It may not be your intention but in many ways that is exactly how it feels. The gaming market from nintendo does feel less enthusiastic. Not just due to the refusal of Monster Hunter 3G for the western market but with many other games as well. Monster Hunter 3G just seems to add to that.

I understand there is probably a lot more than what is stated in this article but unfortunately this is all the information you, Mr.Iwata, or anyone else has given us. So until we recieve more information what else are we suppose to understand.

Thank you for your time.

Operation Cherry Blossom? You mean P3rd right?

To be precise, it was socialdissonance's try to organize support for a western release of P3rd. But i'm afraid it ain't gonna happen. Actually, pretty sure now that tri G is almost released in japan.

On another note, i kinda understand where Iwata is coming from. The extra 3DS sales from a tri G release here would be...slim. Most buyers in the west are driven by mario/zelda/metroid and other classics. The release in japan WILL make a lot of MH addicts buy a 3DS. So basically, we fucked.

Though in the end, i think it's a pretty bad decision. MHTri established somewhat of a foothold in the west, to give that up now by ignoring the fans...they might be unable to really establish a solid fanbase. Of course, there's a small group of devote fans (us...and unity), but that's not enough to warrant success if they let the big audience slip away now.

If they release a monster hunter game here, pretty much every member on this forum will buy it, get their friends and family to buy it, and make youtube videos telling people to buy it. If they release it here bundled with a 3ds, many more people will buy it, especially with a special edition 3ds. Heck, if they relase it with a special edition one ill buy it even though i already have a 3ds. Id go sell my body on the street to get that if i had to.

From a IGN review of tri
"Tri is a historical moment, it brings hardcore gaming to a casual console and great graphics to the most noticeable weaker console of the generation"
Saying this and the sales made by tri, MH isn't unknown anymore, they arent any rustshard waiting to be discovered, they are something now.
If TriG is released then Nintendo would enjoy that their 3DS sales to go up a 120% more and Capcom would enjoy to the series to get know here in the western areas. Capcom said that they wouldn't stop, whatever it takes to make MH as great as it is in Japan. This does not explain P3rd case(maybe P3rd will be seen on the Vita, but until next year folks) but Tri G would not only boost sales, but make MH known around the world.
Capcom must know that they are being fools by not releasing G, dos, Frontier, P3rd and Diaries to the western market, and we are waiting to them to make their move, but if the president of Nintendo is stoping this progres, the what can happen?
We will see TriG the next year, don't worry, but know is a difficult moment, if we just flame around then we aren't going to do anything.

... It really saddens me to think of what the higher-ups in video game markets think of their loyal Western customers.

Now, some people seem to think that the Wii can't be used for much more than "Wii bowling." Quite obviously, that's going to effect your sales on people who don't believe in Nintendo.

So what I don't see, is how you can take the sales information for a home console that most people only buy for "Wii bowling," and apply that information to a completely different title, and not only that, but a handheld with completely different intentions!

It's impossible to make a console that pleases everybody. It's about time we learn that. But that doesn't mean you can take two completely different things, and make an assumption based on only one of those factors.

^ do you see p3rd yet?

Main difference though is that 3G is with nintendo not Sony and historically Nintendo has been more open on bringing games out in the west than Sony has. Though with a delay usually.

Maybe 3G will be like Unite and Tri and will come about 9 months of the Japanese release... Lets see, December 10, add 9 months...? It ends in September, that is almost in fall...

*Looks at MH1, MHF1/2/U*
*Looks at Pandora's Tower, Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story*

I think they're pretty even...

Read Hic's posts on this. Basically that is what he and what the projected "fall" eta time frame aims at us the 9 months. I personally however feel that is insulting but that's a personal opinion.

Also read what he just posted as I posted this.

The only way to have this even get close to Iwata is to have it correctly translated into Japanese and mailed to his office.

It's no easy task, apparently hundreds of people solicit him about games every day.

That's my point...

Though yeah, I don't think there's a huge chance of it not coming here at this point... I hope.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic for what I usually am.

Or we can write him some fanmail and use google translator, it may not be effective, but its better than nothing. And who know's if he gets a swarm of fanmail asking him to bring tri g to west it just might persuade him to definitely do it.

With a massive selling game like monster hunter, I think they'll care... even if it's just a little bit. XD
