| Between those two, I'd choose focus. I forget what the modifier for hammers is with attack up, but decreasing time to a super-pound is always a good option :3 | |

| AuX
There are very few times when focus will get you an extra superpound. There are more times that focus will stop you getting in an uppercut. AuX adds damage all the time however.

| AuX. I like Focus for hammers, mind you, and I'd advise you to try both. Maybe Focus will make you feel like fighting more switfly, which is always nice, but AuX is more effective. | |

| I prefer AuX Because I tend to fucus my attacks more on triple pounds then super pounds. So I am always dealing high ammounts of damage with just the triple pounds that super pounds become non essential to my technique. Don't get me wrong I super pound when i have to I just don't focus on it. | |

I completely disagree with you from past experience I hardly ever focus hammer only time I MAYBE will use it on ala. From past experience the higher my raw damage the faster I will produce ko's good example is alatreon metamorph and devils crush P I get more ko's with crush than I do with metamorph. Meaning that raw damage has to fit in somewhere with the ammount of ko damage you deal.

| both are good ; focus helps having a superpound ready (it really does on raging monsters, they turn faster) but you can live without it ; i use sets with and without focus, so i know i miss some oppurtunities when i dont use it
For aUM, you can't be wrong using it

| Is this even debatable? Maybe I just play too much solo but focus guarantees me four dizzies where as AUx shortens the time it takes me to cap the monster by a min or two. AUx on another weapon is preferable but hammer's job is not damage, its dizzy. Focus and HGE will land 2 1/2 super pounds before the fight starts.
I guess to answer the question more accuratly: If your hammer skills are low then shoot for AUx but as they develop you will see that focus helps you to fulfill your role in the group.

Meaning that raw damage has to fit in somewhere with the ammount of ko damage you deal. Huh? KO damage is inflicted by sharpness level, not how much damage you do. Superpound isn't the attack that is effected most by focus, it's actually your level 2 charge. Ala would be the one monster I would chosse AUx instead of focus on. With Ala you are concentrating on those horns so go for the damage. With focus, you can follow up any stagger attack with a level 2 charge attack before the monster can react. You can't do this without focus. AUx saves you a few more hits on a monster (5-10 at most) but when I KO more frequently using focus I have three other hunters getting free shots with me which more than makes up for my AUx deficiency. It all comes down to personal preference. People who have seen me hammer would probably choose focus, but to each their own.

I'm not an expert at the hammer, but I never found that focus gave me more opprutunities to superpound. It charges faster, but it doesn't mean I hit the monster any sooner. That's just me. though.

| FOCUS, I will not rewrite all Rene said, but I agree with everything he exposed.
The hammer is a DPS weapon, but before that it is a "disable" one, more stuns = more dps overall. (my opinion ofc)
I have seen Rene hammering with an Iron Devil, the guy is a beast, inflicted a lot of para and knocked the boss a lot too.
I cant do with a DevilĀ“s Crush what he have done with the Iron Devil.
tl;dr = Focus | |

TRue I have used both but focus harms my play style honestly so I stay away from it takes me longer to get used to focus hammer again. I would love to see you hammer it is so rare for me to actually see someone use a hammer I syopped using it because I was constantly my teams hammer and it gets old having people depending on you for ko damage. I am trying to pick it up again and I never realized I had rusted so much. So for now I will definitely not use focus until I learn the basics again. I think my answer would have been focus 6 months ago.

Also if I get Focus I also get the skill negate stun or sneak. Getting negate stun would mean you're just getting hit too much. But sneak? Focus is for getting more superpounds/lvl 2's for KO, not for damage (that's what you have AUX for). If the monster isn't going your way, what would the point be?
