Dark materials: What is their best use before HR9?

I guess the title pretty much says it all, but going into specifics is a lot better than leaving it on a foot note. So here it is:

I have enough materials from the giant sword in the farm cave to make any of the black weapons, but I feel as though that'd be an awful waste because I can't kill Fatalis to upgrade the weapons at all.

So essentially, what I'm looking to do is better use these materials. I think, /think/ they're required for Death Stench, but in reality, I have not the slightest inkling of an idea. Furthermore, I'm wondering in regards to said armor, how does one go about getting striped skin and sinister cloth? I have one sinister cloth, but it was a random reward.

you get sinister cloth from trenya and striped skin from remobra. Death Stench armor does not require any dark materials, but it does need elder dragon bones. The weapons are good for dragon element, especially with how early you can make them (right after village tigrex urgent if you are lucky) so you can use them to break special hitzones on monsters that require dragon element or are weak against it. You're kinda past that point and have access to other dragon element weapons, so meh...

I've found that Titernia is much more useful than any of the Black weapons, so I'm thinking that at this point they are essentially just collectors weapons, or if I'm feeling bold at one point, 'challenge weapons'. As it stands, they don't seem so appealing anymore.

As for Death Stench... That doesn't sound too difficult to get. Perhaps a tad annoying, but nothing too very difficult. Do you know where I could send Trenya to get the sinister cloth?

from the desert on you can get it iirc, except for the great forest, don't know if that gives it since I haven't sent trenya there.

Most of the stuff from that materials weapon line is mediocre and beaten by other materials. For example the Dragon Element GS is pitiful compared to making a Brunhild.

The only weapon I like truly in the line is the Dragon element ls from dark materials and fatalis materials, and I sorta like the white fata hammer. But that too I think is beaten or on par with another hammer.

The only good material weapon IMO is the SnS one since you can upgrade it to reach the dual dragon tree which gives some pretty good dual swords.

As for death stench ... It is a pretty good armor but you'll have to gem the hell out of it with health gems...
ESP it pretty good skill but it soon gets outclassed by other armors... Also , make the high rank one , not the low rank >.> I dont think there is a g rank death stench so there is no need to keep the materials needed for it.
Great armor just to have so you can wear from time to time as it looks awesome

I'd avoid death stench, instead go with a mixed set from other things: find a set from this link that suits your needs then go for it:

Meh , I am just saying that it looks great and it is good for a little while if you gem out the health decrease

In regards to those armor combos, they seem fairly difficult to er... accomplish at my rank. I only just hit HR2 last night. I was happy enough breaking 1000 attack, but even that's only because I managed to get Power+Armortalons and charms.

Actually, I reckon the best use they have before HR9 is the Black Bow series, which can be upgraded into either Glorious Victory I or Exterminator Bow I with High Rank Fatalis materials, both of which are pretty good bows. They're in competition with the Dragon Bow series and Akantor bow, however.
