| I heard you liek moneez... Alright so, we're all excited about MHU, and a few of us are wanting to get both the Wii U version and the 3DS version. That's fair enough, I do too, but what about dem pennies?
On release, the Wii U will have two packages available, Basic, and Premium.
Basic will be selling for $299, or £209. Premium will be on for $349, or £251.
Already pretty pricey, but it's a next (next) gen console and it looks pretty cool so whatever.
Now, the 3DS. Many of us already have these, some at launch. However, the price was dropped later on, cause sales weren't up to scratch... or something. I wasn't really paying attention at the time. Also worthy of note, in America, retail price was fixed (as far as I'm aware), while in Europe, the retailers were allowed to choose the price.
So, at launch, the 3DS went for $249 in America, and the prices fluctuated from around £200 to £230 over here in the UK.
Later on however, after the price drop, the sum dropped to $169 in America, and to £130-£150 in the UK. Pretty hefty but probably called for, since I believe sales were boosted well after this.
Ok so now we're into guess work. I personally am assuming that MHU will hit the wallets for around £40-£50 in the UK, meaning (according to a currency convertor) around $65-$80. Couldn't really offer a suggestion about how the prices will change based on the system, but the difference if there is one would be around £10/$16.
SO. Let's do some maths. woot.
Assuming you're like me and don't have anything but want it all $349/£251 + $169/£150 + ($80/£50*2) = $678/£501 (Premium + 3DS after price drop + both MHU versions)
Assuming you have a 3DS at launch and want everything else $349/£251 + $249/£230 + ($80/£50*2) = $758/£581 (Premium + 3DS at full price + both MHU versions)
There you have it friends, the ugly truth. We are all sons and daughters of Tal- AHEM. I mean, yeah that's pretty damn pricey. Obviously that won't apply to everyone; those who only want the 3DS version but don't have one, those that want the 3DS version and do have one; those that only want the Wii U version etc etc.
Ow. My monies. still liek 'em?

| I can't help but wonder if $30 of that price increase is just for the colour black, since 'white consoles don't sell well in the West.'
Also, inb4 maths is all wrong.

| MHU 3DS Same price as any game: $39.99
MHU WiiU will be the same price as all the other WiiU games: $59.99
What that translates into the EU price.. Not sure..
And yes in the US the 3DSxl is $199.99 which by all accounts is much better to play MH3G/U on.
Now.. going back to the WiiU price (again)... Out of any "Next Generation" console released as far as price is concerned it's been one of the least exspensive ever released (curent market prices taken into account) as far as what tech it has in it and what it is capable of doing.. I mean look at how much even the 3gVita is still selling for along with the original price of the PS3 and 360 as well as how much they still costs. The WiiU does everything those systems do (Including the 360 conect) and you can pick up the lower end one for $299.99 and the high end one for just $50 bucks more which comes with a lot more and unlike the other two current home consoles to exspand the memory on it you can just go to your local WalMart or wherever and get a 2TB hard drive for just $60. (or at least that's how much the one I got costed)
You also have to ask... when the other 2 companies come out with a new console how much are they going to cost based on history of their pricing.. Will they be more powerful? Most likely, but will it appeal to developers who will also have to pay more and charge more for their games and will you want to pay more?
But lets go back... Because our main concern here is Monster Hunter not the system it's on.
With just one copy of the game you can get a great experiance. out of the two which should you get... IMO, the WiiU, simply for the online. All together it will cost you $400 for the Delux WiiU and MHU. That's a little less than 6 months away so saving up you would need about $67 a month to make it.
Heck a few of you can request the 3DS for christmas and the MHU game for t for your birthdays and get the WiiU's on your own.. Just a suggestion...
But.. Putting my love for MH aside..
YOu should never get a game system for one game and you should always do your research. I've had the ability to play the WiiU in advance and have played all the US released MH games and have researced the series quite a bit for this forum as well as tried to keep up with news and information for everyone..
I would suggest others do the same as well. Look at the WiiU/3DS, learn about it and see what it offers don't just go off of rumors and peoples opinions and set your own opinions and misgivings aside. Weigh the price options and the games you like the most. With the Monster Hunter series we know the WiiU will be getting 1 with online and the 3DS will be getting 1 and most likely a second that will include online.
Do that then decide what is best for you... Then after you get the system Play Monster Hunter ;)

That's the version you want for MH3U. Not really that kills too much space I want to be able to be able to easily fit it in my bag and not have something as big as some of my smaller college books.

No game console, phone, ect. can keep up with a computer.. that is a given... But no computer price can keep up with a consoles price either. The amount you would have to constantly spend on a computer to keep it up to date and virus free... well, I think that far exceeds anything you would pay for all the current systems out plus the ones coming out in the next year or two.

| If you want the processing power of a computer buy a computer if you want to just play video games buy a console. A consolw can only have so much in it before it physicaly becomes a home computer | |

| Randomhunter: "Next Gen" does not always refer to what is inside something but often how it is used when it come to electronics and Videgames. In general it's a basic term meaning the (Next generatin of systems) not always an advancement per-se.
Just as you are the next generation in your family tree but not necessarily an advancement. The WiiU while having "Current" or slightly older techknowlogy uses that in a way to have several advancements over the current systems out. Higher graphics resolutions, some faster speeds and fetures that are currently not in use.
BUt as said "Nex Gen" in the case of video games is used more as it is with families, The WiiU is the first in the "new" generation of consoles. WiiU, PS3, 370 and so on... as before it was the 360, PS3, Wii, and before that GC, PS2, Xbox... and so on... Like the example I gave with a family tree...

| I just really hate the misuse of the word "Next-Gen" something NEW does not necessarily mean its "Next-Gen" and then people start thinking because its new its allmighty godlike powerfull future stuff...
Ofc only people who dont understand whats inside a console believe that..and thats a good ammount of people.

| No offence but so far unless I have missed something.. you are the only one that has seemed to make that comparison....
The WiiU "As nintendo often does" uses current and older tech to do new things. That's part of the reason you see their systems costing so much less than their competators.
I think what a lot of people seem to miss is that "Next Gen" with game systems and Games (Such as the Monster Hunter series) is often the "IDEA'S" it introduces and not the graphics or power it produces.
... Now... can we get this back on track with Monster Hunter?

| There is always ways to make extra money... Legally. Help people in your neighborhood with things they need done around their houses, yard work and stuff. Let them know you are trying to save up some money. Look for a part time job. Show people you are a responsible hard working member of your community... You know, Lie. | |

| Hey I just turned 16 and have had a paper round for the last 2 years, the money situation fairly good for me. Plus now that I am 16 I can look for either a better job or a job on top of the round. Look in places no one else wants to, and you'll find something.
... Might not be good, either in pay or what it calls for, but it'll definitely be a job.

good thing I never get presents for christmas/birthdays & just a shniz load of money, save it with my graduation money I still have & get the WiiU ASAP That doesn't sound wise at all. You're better off using some of that gifted money to get yourself in position for an improved income stream. You know, get a better job. Sometimes that takes investment capital: tools, a suit, a truck, training, etc. Bettering yourself is always more beneficial than instant gratification and then being broke. In other words, getting a better job and THEN buying a WiiU + MH3U with your new income is far wiser than just blowing all your dough and then looking for bottom-of-the-barrel jobs. MH3U isn't even coming out until March, anyway. That's a lot of time. A lot can happen in the world between now and then...

and theres no need for me to get into detail with work/financials/ect.
But I always plan ahead & keep organized with stuff, this is no different. I rather budget stuff far in the future than be 'in-the-moment' with stuff concerning money.
