no, they are similar, but they aren't the same. The wii U pad offers a resistive touchscreen so pressing two keys at the same time is not possible so having to put something in caps, you'd be hitting the Shift EVERY TIME unless they give an all caps button on the touch screen. Set phrases were also on tri with quick access of the keyboard btw. The pad just removes the need of memorization by just showing you the shouts XD.

And as stated before:
"Don't forget the Touch screen offers the option to have pre-set phrases that you can place anywhere comfortable on the screen that you can just touch without having to navigate to the keyboard..."
You don't have to make things complicated ya know.
But don't see why your getting upset.. the option is still there for you to put down your controller and take longer using a keyboard.. so be happy. I just think it's funny how you think it's more trouble using the keyboard when it, in fact, saves so much time is all. Phrases are great for things like setting traps or doing certain actions, but not for things like "watch out for the charge!" or "it's about to dive!" which differ per monster. When you're seconds away from getting tossed like a ragdoll the keyboard can really help. Also, touching the screen with a finger is something I try to avoid. Fingerprints just peeve me.

They do make screen protectors you know.. and if you are making things more difficult to use then that's your choice not a fault of the gamepads.

Well said, the best way to determine which is better would be through use in the game. If the game pad keypad feels anything like an iPad screen, it'll be fine.

| So I started looking at the slew of new screenshots which you can view here, and I came across this little gem. It's not a picture of any monsters or cool looking armors or weapons, or anything exciting for most people. But it still has me excited more than any of the other screenshots. Note some of the options for creating your own room. Option such as Room Names (custom names? "MHWF lobby?"), Max Players (it only shows 4 players selected there, but it still has that option...), and Password Protection (that alone will solve just about all problems we have with noobs, leechers, and stalkers. No more can they follow and spam us with butthurt!). Just that image alone proves it's way more improved than Tri! | |

| I dont like how it looks. I mean, password for cities and people capacity sounds great (I hope we dont see the time were every city is a coded city) but that looks more like a menu than an actual city, I kinda liked tri gates more :/
Also, does anyone know what will be the capaticy for people per port? I heard it could be 8, on the previous image you mcan still change the 4 players to something on the right (either be back on 1 player or actually allow 5 or more)

I'm sure that's when the custom room names will come in handy as well.

| Ahem, now then...
I will admit that Tri's gates were also pretty cool. especially with the city searches, arena searches, and the update on sales and event quests. But I'm sure these will still be implemented somewhere in Tanjia Port. As for the capacity, I've also heard (unconfirmed) that it's a maximum of 8 people. It'd be really cool if the list included 1 person (for solo lobbies, but I'd understand if they don't do that: It'd be easy enough to just lock the room), 2 people (for people wanting to do arena quests, but they don't want to deal with a third wheel complaining about being left out), 4 people, and finally 8 people (for the large parties/ community get-togethers).

Also, the fact the searches only searched your current gate made it completely useless. If they added server wide searches it would be great.
