| These skills, do they really help with getting stuff in a quest? Are they at all decent for farming things?
I heard they are not applicable to items over RARE4. For example, wearing a jaggi mask does not make it easier to get a gem/ruby right?

| I think what Good Luck does is increase your chance of more items, meaning you have more chance of getting that oh-so-rare item. Also, a LOT of monster items are Rarity 4+, so it's not really likely. As for the Capture skills, in most cases capturing a monster will give more chances of that rare item (For example for the Rath Rubies, it's a 2% chance from carving while a capture will give 4%).

| that's a lot of misinformation, good luck increases the chanche to get many (quantity wise) reward in the first row of the reward screen (quest specific rewards). sometimes rare items can be obtained from that row so it does increase the chanche of getting rare items but not selectively: it simply gets you -more- rewards. capture expert does the same thing but only for the capture rewards which are i think on the right side of the thirdrow of rewards (maybe it was the 4th?). if someone could find the old thread about the reward screen it'd be great. EDIT: found it myself, also looks like i was remembering part of it wrong. | |

Quidam was referring to the portion of that "guide" which was decent: the picture describing the diferent sections of the reward page. Most everything else in that guide is misinformation, it is terribly old and contradicts in-game descriptions as well as other sources of data. It also contradics most players' anecdotal observations.

| Is there a non-misinformation version I can read somewhere? | |

The wikia explains the Fate and Tranquilizer skills pretty well, with the odds increase and all. The Felyne luck skills are far less impactive and only kick in (maybe!) when you get the minimum number of base quest rewards on either row. The "Quest rewards guide" on gamefaqs is well-written and probably does the best job explaining how quest rewards are generated including how to qualify for them and even a quest-by-quest odds per box. The Fate and Tranquilizer skills are detailed, but the felyne skills are just referenced. mhtri.comeze.com contains data from the old Divine Whim site and is also good for reference once you understand the sytem in general.
