| I have been playing since tri, and I got fairly far into that game. I am now playing MH3U.
I have noticed while playing that I tend to get certain items more often when carving from monsters at certain parts of their bodies. for example, monster guts come from the gut, fins come from fins, tusks and teeth from the head. you know, things like that.
So, Am I crazy or is this actually something real. It could just be my luck, but the wiki always just lists % chances of items, but they always seems to come from specific parts of the monster.

| This isn't MH1 anymore. All items are probabilities. | |

| Well obviously getting a Rath Medulla from a tail means carved items are a probability. There is no difference between Tri's and 3U's carve system except for minor percentage increases/decreases. There is a guide with the probabilities for the items; they wouldn't make that shit up; they would have to get them from official sources such as Capcom. | |

| There are exceptions. You can only get a tail, from a tail cut, or from the rewards screen after a tail has been severed.
There are higher chances to get scalps, when you carve them from the detached scalp portion of monsters like the Barroth. And you can only get Tusks and horns, after said items have been destroyed from the monster in question, and only in the rewards screen.
Everything else is just a probability from your rewards screen or carve.

Everything else is just a probability from your rewards screen or carve. That isn't really carving a monster. That is carving a break or cut. He is talking about there being a difference in the carves you get depending on your position relative to the monster, which does not happen. I think everybody has tried to see if that were true at one point. :D

| Yeah, this isn't true. Especially because whenever I carve, I never move, and I am always getting a variety of items. | |

| There are a few things that effect the % of carve rewards and the # of carves such as food skills, armor skills and petting the pig but body location (aside from breaks/cuts) don't effect the rewards you get or rarity. Maybe in future MH games this might be something for Capcom to think about though. Giving you a higher chance on some items if you carve in certin places? Ya never now in the future, just not today I'm afraid. For an example on carve %'s here is rathalos' http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Rathalos_Carves | |

Actually I've gotten a number of tails from quest rewards after capturing a monster using a hammer. I'm not sure if it cares at all about damage done to the tail, or if you just get tails as quest rewards, but most of my tails are from capturing Wyverns as opposed to actually trying to lob their tails off.

was this wrong? It was a placebo to begin with. This never existed in Tri or 3U.

In MH Tri it was changed to increase the % of some reward items by a small margin. (If you do a search here on the forum Sai there's actually an article that explains it completely and even talks about the developers speaking on this.) As far as if it is in MH3U or not... It's had an effect in many other MH games as well as Tri, so I would not see a reason for them taking it out but you never know.
