| Now that I've hit the over hr8+ mark I've been meaning to get into bows. What's more important? Raw or elemental? Since I plan to try and use bow more that isn't kelbi. So any advice? So far as far as elem is concerned
Ice - Amber Arc Valanga Fire - The Ryssurection/selene moonbroken. (Ryssurection has far more elem but much inferior raw but has access to 4th charge without loadup) which one would be better? Thunder - Acrus Whitebolt (no 80 thunder, 5% affinity and losing 2 slots isn't worth using nether emprestador's lulzy scatter level 2 instead of acrus whitebolt's scatter level 5) Dragon - Stygian Patenta or alatreon incanconis when it's released Water - Aquasteed harp
Note I tend to avoid using arrow rain, and I also find pierce to be a bit too situational. Are there anything wrong with my bow choices? Also what armors should I go for? I do have access to load up earring if that helps.

| From what i hear in MH3U elements also gain multipliers now, unlike tri. so i guess its more preference and what the monster is weakest to. | |

| Actually, pierce, is one of the stronger and probably best bow shots to use on most monster. It does high damage to most monster and several body parts at once when well aimed. Also, if not in a group the Blast arc is great due to its body part breaking ability and also high damage.
To answer your question element or raw, I would also have to remind you not to forget your status'... Though not a lot they do help as do all the coatings. The answer to your question is, depends on the monster.
As Random said it partly depends on what the monster is weakest to and also depends on shot placement. If every shot was perfect. Sure one might be better than the other but overall..
Figure out what each bow does and which works best for you. Unlike most other weapons what may deal more damage for one person may not for another at first.

| For fire the first one I think would work vest on hallowed jhen just because some of the shot types reach level 5 and not maybe monsters are that big with negative fire resistance same with ala's would be best on elder dragon hunts just on the level of their charges. | |

| ^ this is well know and has been since 3G came out. 4 hunters + Kelbi bows + Awaken = Massive damage
there are videos out that you can take a look at if you want. How well it does Solo... well that id still dependent on a few factors. A 4 person group can pin down and flinch a monster quite often... A single person may not be able to do it as well. But that's still not to say the bow alone is not very powerfull.
The thing is, is it the best bow to use in a group with people not using kelbi bows as well? Probably not, as in a normal group depending on what it's made up of you may not be able to gget the best shots in they you would like to and other bows may be able to provide better accuracy and support overall allowing more damage from everyone together.
... Just a thought. | |
