First the Armor Set
Now my character in that Armor Set
Spoiler:
So yeah, after using it a few times, I think the developers meant for these armor pieces to be used together. Anybody else starting G-Rank with this set?

The point of The Crazy Cat Lady armor is how easy it is to get, you do the Two Baggi and two Lago quest once, maybe twice if the desire sensor is in a tiffy. Then you do the double Wroggi quest once, then the Qurupeco quest (Key quest by the way). And finish it all off with a couple mining runs in Sandy Plains, kill some Jaggi and Rhenos, then a single bug run through flooded forest (which if you can multitask can be done during Supply Constraints)
It tool me not even an hour to get all that done, worst thing I had to do was the Baggi + Lago fight twice cuz i needed just one more Piel

I used that set. just look at me the picture on the left. this set is good to keep you going unlike most people grinding gold ceadeus 6-10x(depending on mats) to forge their armor. The best combination for this armor i was able to create was sharp+1, SAU+1, Evade+1. however beware, there are people out there that will judge you on wearing it as I came across plenty of them....

I was laughing at myself using it, its ridiculous looking, but having white sharpness on weapons I can't upgrade yet is nice.

I made the armor set for shits and giggles, but never used it. I had full Helios Z with a charm to gem out blunt edge.

I'm a big fan of mix sets in the first place.. "mostly to get the look I want" but partly because I want some skills that you jsut can't get other ways.
But playing around with the armors and the time it takes to discover wat works does take time.. especially in 3U with the numbers of armors, tali's and deco's out there.
Point is.. if a set works FOR YOU.. doesn't really matter what it looks like.. lots of people may not like it.. But if something works you can't really argue with it. Whine yes, argue no.

Personally, when I see a new person I do inspect them... Doesn't really matter what they look like,.. I just want to see how they setup their skills and their stats.
Something that really irks me are those people that have tons of skill points, and no skills whatsoever. This one person had 2 skills... one of which was autoguard from his talisman, and he was a longsword user... and 9 points into a skill he could definately use but didn't gem or tali in.
You can look like crap, but if your skills are all there and your stats are up to par, then more power to ya! I used the Bone S armor with 6 total usefull skills gemmed and charmed in, and while some people said my armor was ugly as hell, I did more than my fair share in the fights.

I'm a big fan of mixed sets too and will probably forge this once I hit online.
Right now to get me through high-rank I'm using what I like to call the Mardi-gras set. It;s P.Rath head and legs, C.Peco body and waist and Gobul arms. It's a multicoloured assault to the eyes, but Windproof Hi and Crit eye +2 is really nice.
I think more people should use mixed sets, or at least experiment with them.

I agree and disagree with more mixed sets, I ran into some 12 year old random the other day, trying to make fun of us Dual Bladers, using only four peices of armor half Lagi half Brachy, no skills and the first Brachy hammer, no upgrades. (and not to pile on my negativity towards him, but he was the only person to get carted, or even take significant damage)
As long as people know what their doing with a mixed set, for getting certain skills, its cool, but I tend to run into these types of randoms more often than I like. Maybe the game could do a better job of explaining Armor Skills, for text and stat based features I wouldn't mind a pop up tutorial (if I was asked for it in game) maybe it would help a few randoms with armors and skills
Also It takes getting to G-Rank, or certain High Rank Armors with good Talis to make decent mixed sets. I noticed LR Armors only extra points are all Negatives, and not too many HR have alot of Extra Points or overlapping points with other sets

While we are talking mixed sets... has anyone actually made mix sets based exclusively on getting the highest possible resistance?
Most sets are setup that the total resistance always gets to 0 or negative, or only very little points in a resistance. I have seen head pieces with +5, only negated by the waist or legs for example.
It is something I am going to look into... Maybe there could be ultimate resistance sets that could be used for certain monsters... hmmm..

This set looks pretty nice i must say. Many great colours and not too skinny, just as i like.
Once i hit G rank i made set with Sharpness+1, with materials which were easy to obtain. I got S+1, Evade+2 and Focus. Skills are great but the problem is that whole set looks gross...
Helios Z helm (Fastcharge+4) Nargacuga X Mail (evasion+1) Rhenoplos X Vambraces (evasion+3) Vangis coil (from Jho in Village) Arzuros Greaves
Vangis coil and Arzuros Greaves have Torso up so no problem with jewels. Without any decorations you got clear Sharpness+1 and 9 in evasion, 2 in Fastcharge and also 6 slots. I use it with Fastcharge+5 tali.
Works great with pretty much everything from GS to LS, SWAX etc. but the look is just terrible... That Crazy Cat Lady set looks way, way better.

I have done this on tri and have started doing this on 3U.. Rhen set giving you high fire and dragon and 0 in everything else is a good start.. What I am working on is finding the pieces that will give me resistance and slots... even if I have no skills and still have high defence. Since I am an archer it will focus on that however.
But... what I would like it to be able to do (if possible is have max resistance and ngate hot and cold) with a decent defence just to see how it does.

Honestly, I don't care for the set very much because Sharpness/Handicraft is not the beast of a skill that it was in Tri because most G Rank weapons have white sharpness native. Rather, the reason why Helios X/Z is such a nice set is because it is also packaged with HG Earplugs, which is another nice skill to have.

White sharpness is nothing like it was in Tri as most weapons in game nowe have acces to purple. White is just horrible... Even though the skill description says Sharpness+1 boosts one level of sharpness, that's not entirely true. There are some weapons which without S+1 got only blue. Uragaan hammer for instance. This skill is still vital for blademasters. Also with white sharpness your weapon will most likely bounce of monsters parts unlike in tri.

Just got this set and I think for my main weapon which is Hammers, sharpness really boosts my damage output a ton. Might be more situational in ultimate than it was in tri, which is just fine in my book. I felt like in tri once you got sharpness +1 you never wanted to use something else.

speaking of ugly armor sets... I wish we could change the color of every detail on the armor rather than just the accents.
That way my Helios Z set with Helios X coil wouldn't look so crappy.
Plus... I am not a big fan of yellow which helios Z is all about yellow.
I could also match my sets to my weapons. I love tri where my helios set and my ceadus SA looked SO COOL.
Does this make me gay?

I dislike the Goldbeard Ceadeus equipment, they lose the sleek designs the Regular ones have, the black and yellow clash alot, plus most of them aren't just recolors, they change the designs.
