| I was wondering why when I kill certain monsters I'm not getting the ability to craft certain parts of their set?
Examples are the Barioth set and Volvidon set. I like both of them, but I do not have the ability to craft an item for each slot. Do I need to kill them a bunch to unlock it or something?

| You only get access to certain slots once you get at least one piece of the material to craft it. You will have to kill/cap the monster a few more times to get all the pieces needed to craft full set. | |

| Are you talking about the skills attached to armor? if so you need to get armor that has the related skill. When you reach a certain number for example Evade +1, you will need to have armor peices that have the evade skill and add up to 10 to unlock that skill. you can also talk to the blacksmith to craft jewels (decorations) of almost any skill to add to armor slots. hope this helps. | |

I was talking about crafting items period, and as to why I didn't have certain ones.

| As seph said..
Some items (even certain parts) do not unlock or appear until you have obtained a key piece..
I have not seen a list of the gear online and what unlocks it but the Brady Games guide has it..

| Armor becomes available to craft once you have the key mat required to make it, most of any monsters armor the key items are basic mats so you see all those after the first kill because you get plenty of the basic mats. However certain pieces of armor the key item will be the rare drops so you won't see them till you have at least one.
A good example is the G. Jaggi set as you get higher up it requires a Bird Wyvern Gem so it won't be visible till you have one.
