So, I've been thinking about buying a WiiU and get MH3U of course, but I do have some questions I hope people can answer.

First, is it possible to play MH3U online using an internet cable instead of Wi-Fi? I have an adapter for the Wii and the standard internet cables.

Second, how does the linking between the 3DS and WiiU version work? Do they simply connect, and the game will ask if u want to transfer the save file?
Because my idea is to play MH3U on the WiiU when I'm at home, but on the 3DS when I'm going away, but I would like to continue the same save file on both systems so none of my work will go to waste.
Basically I want the following: I've played for 3 hours on my 3DS, then I transfer that to my WiiU and play there for 3 hours. Then, I transfer the data from my WiiU to my 3DS and play for 4 hours on my 3DS. Than I transfer my new 3DS data back to my WiiU, and so on, basically using and continuing the same save data on 2 systems.

Yes on both situations.

As long as you have a working internet connection and a method for your WiiU to use it, it will connect.

For the 3DS, you will have to download a separate app from the Nintendo store. "MH3U Data Transfer Program". In the WiiU, you go to "Data Transfer", and in the 3DS, you open the aforementioned program. They will communicate right away, and then you select from what to what you want to transfer the file. Note, you cannot have any MH3U saved data on the 3DS if you want to send information from the WiiU to it. The 3DS automatically deletes all MH3U save data when it sends your information back to the WiiU, that way it will be easy to transfer the data back into it.

I have used them both for some time now, and I believe it is one of the best ideas they have had... I don't like how they implemented it, but beggers can't be choosers.

JUst a little fyi.. With the WiiU it is made for WiFi connection, so if you have a wireless router that supports wireless it is better to support it for a few reasons,

1. you have more choices of where to place your systems
2. the data transfer over wifi for the wiiu and router (if you have a good IP) is actually quicker and can transfer more data at a time.
3. the USB slots are limited on the rear of the WiiU to two, which may be reserved for a seperate hard drive or another device so using an adaptor for your wired connection may limit your use for other devices, keyboard, head phones and so on is you use them.
4. the data will slow down a bit when having to be routed through a secondary device...

Now there is an advantage... the 3ds' version of MH3u does requier the wired conection to play online and though for the most part, yes, the Wiiu will be faster without the wired connection.. you may want to run a few speed tests over your system it's self (not a seperate device) to see which works best. my own experiances and many others you can look up online have all shown that the wireless connection has been faster on just about every test.

And to add to what Seph already said.. read everything that is said in the transfer app and always backup everything... many people who have lost their data lotst it because they tried to rush through without reading the steps..
