See topic.

I am currently playing as a straight user of Dual Swords.

I currently have:

Full Wroggi Armor

In the way of weapons, I have:

3 Chief's Scythes - to be turned into Snow Slicers, Brother Flames, and a Ludroth Pair +

a pair of Jaggid Shotels+ - to be turned into a Twin Acrus

BTW, I am currently armed with the Jaggid Shotels+.

I recently beat Gobul - is it worth it farming him for his armor or his DS?

Hello Jake,

I did a quick overview of the weapons/armors you mentioned and I have a few suggestions for you.

First of all, you are going to get much more benefit from switching weapon paths right now. I am not saying you shouldn't upgrade all those other weapons you mentioned, but there are much more effective weapons that will increase your damage significantly early on.

Upgrade your Base Matched slicers -> Matched Slicers+ -> Dual Slicers ->Dual Hatchets -> Dual Hatchets+ -> Twin Chainsaws - Twin Chainsaws+

All that can be done at low rank, and with mostly materials you mine, so no long monster battles. Your attack will change from your current 158, to 210 and 90 lightning... a huge boost overall.

Your armor is good for what you are doing, since it gives you razor sharp. As you know dual blades loose sharpness very quickly, and that skill is super helpful in negating that. You should also add "Speed Sharpening" with those 5 slots that your armor has. This would mean that you can stop mid battle, sharpen in a couple of seconds, and be ready for battle right away.

Gobul armor is difficult to make useful at low rank. It only has Crit +1 as a useful skill for dual blades, but that doesn't justify all the other skills that you will not have when compared to your current Wroggi Armor. As for Gobul weapons, it is a VERY good low rank weapon... but it requires alot of bug farming... both with bug nets and Bhanabra killing for wings.... and those buggers don't drop the wings often at all. The best luck you can have is to use some poison weapons... hit them till they are poisoned, stop, and let them die from the poison. Or make many poison bombs and hope to catch them on the poison cloud, then harvest the bodies on the floor.

It is a good weapon, but getting to it is very very tedious. You are more likely to enjoy yourself doing some mining and getting the chainsaws.... and I mean, who wouldn't like carrying around 2 chainsaws to slice up monsters!

Thanks.

I will make the Twin Chainsaws +.

However, is there a good DS path that I can farm Lagiacrus for? (I am to the quest to hunt the over-sized electric eel?)

I didn't want to mention the Lagiacrus, but yes, if he's not a PITA for you to fight, his stuff is pretty much the best low rank stuff you can get. Both in armor and in weapons.

Sorry for the delayed responses, I wander around this site a couple times a day, so I miss some responses at times.

Happy hunting!
