Lets look at this for a moment...

Current ly we know the 3DS version of MHU/3G has a few less overall Monsters that MHFU. 72 on MH3U and 81 on MHFU (Still more details about the WiiU version to be released)... But MH3U has overall more content, better graphics and so on on for both the 3DS version (Portable) and the WiiU version (online)... (I'm not comparing p3rd as it's not a world wide released game and the content/monsters are much less than both MHFU and MH3U)

Any ways here is the question:

A lot of people were buying the PSP to play MHFU and were starting to buy the Vita for MHFU until it was taken off of PSN (though many hope it will be put back on at some point). A lot of people were getting it just to play online through Adhoc. With the WiiU/3DS it's a bit easier to play online than with the adhoc mode (You still have to have two systems for the portability and now need to buy two games but.. you still have a choice.) With the WiiU/3DS combo you still get to use the same character and all as well. So each choice offers some advantages depending on how you look at it.

In the end however, here is the question. With MH3U and the systems it will be on likely being (and with MH4 already confirmed to have online and likely to be released in the west as well) the home of MH games for a while, will MH3U take away many of those who are currently playing MHFU and those who were planning on buying a Vita for MHFU when it returned to PSN?

What are your thoughts?

Dcj MHFU was never taken off PSN. They were GOING to take it off but then ended up fixing the problem.

Ahh so they left it on but made a mandatory update to block the exploit. Good to know.

Same question still stands though. Those buying the PSV for MHFU, do you think MH3U will draw them away from it?

Well, I guess it depend on how hardcore a fanboy/girl you are for either company. Also, just which one you feel like investing your hard-earned dough into-a classic or a new game.

Aside from what Tri Ultimate adds, if those that want to travel to multiple different areas.
They'll love Freedom Unite more since:
Spoiler:

Freedom Unite has a ton of different locations in it.

^ That is true... and that's the whole point of the thread.. MHFU has more content in some areas and MH3U/G has it in others.... as far as the areas go MHFU does have more when it come to number of areas.. but I wonder... I am not sure but are the areas in MHFU as large and open overall as the ones in MHU to include the fact of the water locations?

I wonder? what would the Total area mass of both games be?

I assume the WiiU game pad will MAKE online play because of that wonderful second screen.

Really though I'd like to compare what the online services have to offer against each other.

As far as content is on offer what do the two games really have that's separating them?

Good QUESTION!

Well as of now we can only full compare MHFU to MH3G not MH3U for the west so it's not going to be... an actual comparison of the final product, so keep that in mind.

So.. here we go:

I am going to leave out Graphics and all that because hands down the newer game wins on that so lets just focus on content for the most part.

Areas:

MHFU: 22 Advantage: More areas to explore

MH3G: 11 Advantage: Underwater areas and a bit larger space in some areas.

Weapons:

types (For the ammount overall of weapons I was unable to find a compiled list of the total numbers... so I just counted the amount of (Main path) great swords..) so the amounts may not be fully accurate..

MHFU: 11 Amount: About 60 GS'

MH3G: 12 Amount: I counted 97 GS'

Armors: (I only posted Blademaster Full sets numbers... but i don't think their fully accurate)

MHFU: 222 LR: 74 HR: 94 GR: 54

MH3G: 154 LR: 33 HR: 59 GR: 62

The numbers are not 100%.. especially for 3G as.. well we don't reallt have good source information for it. If someone finds better numbers please post.

But that's just scratching the surface.. Content includes a lot more than just the number's of things, it also includes what the games have to offer. in that area:

MHFU:

You have your online quests as normal.

MH3G/MHUWiiU:

This (from what we have heard so far) will likely have multiple DLC event quest content. For the 3DS if it remains the same as 3G will have Automatic downloads through spotpass and location downloads through the Nintendo Zone offering special event items.

On the WiiU it is likely to offer "Seperate" online event quests that will work the same way Tri and MHFU does. So MH3U will offer an abundance of events over MHFU in this regards. The 3DS will also offer StreetPass hunter Card information sending your hunter ID and information to others you Streetpas.. Sort of like a trading card.

Arenas: this is in MHFU and will be in MH3U as well much like it was in Tri.. But if it will be the same as in tri for both the 3DS and WiiU is still not fully known.

Well it looks like the numbers are incomplete as it is.

Le sigh. I guess we'll just have to wait until launch.

I'm saying MH3U over it all, end of.

Though less monsters, still more variety because of the new weapon classes (Switch Axe wasn't in MHFU), better graphical design, better/easier online play, ON THE WII U, what more could you ask of?

Well, I'd ask for Melynx to be removed but hay ho.

About the areas in MHFU, I don't like how they just have old versions of the other areas, that's a waste IMO.
